U.S. Political Heavyweights' Support for Serbia

Warning Light on Kosovo
By John Bolton, Lawrence Eagleburger and Peter Rodman, Washington Times
The Bush administration has indicated its readiness to recognize a unilateral declaration of independence by ethnic Albanians in Kosovo, a province of the Republic of Serbia that since 1999 has been under United Nations administration and NATO military control.
Such a declaration may take place as early as February. American recognition would be over Serbia's objections, without a negotiated solution between Serbia and Kosovo's Albanians, and without modification by the United Nations Security Council of Resolution 1244, which reaffirms Serbian sovereignty in Kosovo while providing for the province's "substantial autonomy." U.S. recognition may be joined by that of some members of the European Union, which has been under heavy diplomatic pressure from Washington, though several EU states and a number of countries outside Europe have said they would reject such action.
Attempting to impose a settlement on Serbia would be a direct challenge to the Russian Federation, which opposes any Kosovo settlement not accepted by Belgrade.

Freedom for Serbia, the U.S./EU Colony

Western Leaders Try to Throw Serbia's Election
By M.V. Pejakovich, SerbBlog
Let me start by saying that I don't care one whit who wins Serbia's election for president. I am an American and the US is my country, not Serbia. As far as I am concerned, Serbian citizens have as much right to elect "a savior" or "an idiot" as we Americans do (and will do in the near future), and no other country (or countries) calling themselves "progressive democracies" have any right whatever to interfere in their election process.
However, this is NOT what is happening with Serbia. Western leaders, impatient with the Serbian election process, are acting like a bunch of bullies by trying to force Serbia's citizens into electing the West's "chosen one" candidate, Boris Tadic, and unfortunately, the Western media (both print and internet) are cooperating in this extortion.

Amnesty International: Crimes in Kosovo Province Go Unpunished

Seven years since the UN started to make efforts for building the judiciary system in Serbia's Kosovo province, hundreds of war crimes, crimes against humanity (including rape and disappearance of people) and other crimes based on ethnicity still remain unpunished, warned on Tuesday Amnesty International.
In the latest report of the Washington-based NGO on the judiciary system in Serbian province of Kosovo and Metohija, it is pointed out that war crimes, crimes against humanity and crimes based on ethnicity from conflicts in the late 90s must not remain unpunished.
Amnesty International called on international and temporary Kosovo authorities to complete and publish the results of the review of the work of the international and local judiciary in bringing to justice those responsible for war crimes, crimes against humanity and crimes based on ethnicity.
Hundreds of cases have been closed for lack of evidence, which was not quickly or efficiently collected. The relatives of the disappeared claim that international police and prosecutors, who were newly appointed to the case, questioned them too frequently, but that no headway was ever made, said AI investigator in Kosovo Sayan Jones.

“In Kosovo there is only hate”

Peter Handke lights candle with grieving Serbian woman at Orthodox cemetery in village of Retimlje (Photo by Darko Dozet, April 2006, Kosovo-Metohija, Serbia). Visit to the Christian cemetery alongside Serbs exposed Handke and his friends to verbal attacks and insults by the local Albanians.
An interview with Peter Handke, translated from Italian by Timothy Fenton
“Without involvement in the wounds of the Balkans I would not be a true writer”.
“There are no human rights, nor democratic guarantees. The remaining Serbs are not even allowed to tend their graves, they are living in terror. And the EU, headed by the Slovene Janez Janza, a leading criminal of the Yugoslav drama, will recognise its independence, otherwise the Albanians are threatening a new war”
By Tommaso Di Francesco, Paris
Wary but frank, Peter Handke receives us into his house on the remote outskirts of Paris. Diaphanous, tall and bony, in a white shirt which he wears when he comes to meet us despite the cold, he appears like one of the angels from “Sky Above Berlin” [aka Wings of Desire (1988)], the film by Wim Wenders for which he wrote the screenplay.
For many years he has lived here, he popped up in these parts like one of the mushrooms for which he looks during his long walks in the woods near his house. He is one of the most politically incorrect of writers, practically persecuted by the cultural institutions of the world, as when two years ago in Germany his award of the “Heinrich Heine” prize was rescinded, or straight afterwards in France La Comédie Française dropped one of his plays from their programme. Moreover only two months ago Handke has won a case for defamation against Il Nouvel Observateur which had written, mendaciously, that he had laid a red rose on the grave of Milosevic. What is his crime? Peter Handke is accused of being pro-Serb, now, during Nato’s bloody “humanitarian” bombing of former Yugoslavia and in the period of the interethnic war. We are meeting him while he prepares to leave on a new “winter journey” to Serbia where he will take part in the Festival of Cinematographic Schools which takes place in the city of cinema planned by Emir Kusturica in Mokra Gora, meanwhile the battle over the status of Kosovo rages and everyone waits for the presidential elections in Belgrade on 20 January.

Turkish PM Erdogan: “We Got The Immorality From The West”

Photo: Antisemitic turkish mob
Then why join the EU, Erdogan?
"PM Erdogan: 'We Got The Immorality From The West,'” from the
MEMRI Blog (thanks to all who sent this in):
In his speech to Turkish graduate students going to study abroad, Erdogan made some controversial remarks that met with strong reactions in Turkey’s mainstream media. Erdogan said, “The poet who penned Turkish national anthem [the Islamist Mehmet Akif Ersoy] said that we should compete with art and science of the West; but unfortunately we adopted the West’s immoralities that are contrary to our values”.
He added that Turkey would continue sending students abroad for graduate studies for them to [learn and] compete in order to reach beyond the art and science of the West and asked the students to come back after their studies and work in Turkey.
The PM’s remarks were questioned by the media that asked what he meant by “the West’s immoralities”, whether or not he was talking about Western women not being covered, and how Turkey could become a EU member when the PM thought the West was “immoral”.

Berlin parley warns against 'appeasing' Iran

By BENJAMIN WEINTHAL
BERLIN
While German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Germany's Federal Parliament commemorated the victims of the Nazi regime on Holocaust Remembrance Day, and an expert international forum debated ways of combating anti-Semitism, a non-governmental German organization shone an uncomfortable spotlight on German-Iranian relations during a two-day conference last weekend at Humboldt University in Berlin entitled "The West and the Iranian War Against Israel."

Protest against Kosovo recognition held in Norway

SERBIANNA
An association of Serbs in Norway held protests against illegal recognition of the Serbian province of Kosovo in front of the Parliament building in the capital Oslo.
This is the first such protest of the Serb immigrants in Norway who were surprised as to how little the media, the politicians and the public know of the events taking place in this Serbian province.
Leader of Norway's Venstre political party, Gunnar Garbo, came to support the protesters and took part in the protest against recognition of Kosovo. Garbo was member of the Norway Parliament from 1958-1973 and Norway's Ambassador to Tanzania 1987-1992.

No New Church without a Mosque, Macedonian Officials Warned

(Balkanalysis.com)
When government officials in Macedonia recently proposed rebuilding a church that once stood on the city’s central square, they received an abrupt warning: for the Islamic Community (IVZ), the recreation of Sveti Konstanin & Elena, destroyed in the 1963 earthquake, should guarantee them their own right to build a mosque in the prominent downtown area.
According to a report from A1 Television, among its other ambitions the IVZ is most keen on rebuilding the Burmali Mosque, destroyed in 1925, a year after the official dissolution of the Ottoman Empire but 12 years after the Ottomans were finally expelled, following a long period of bloody crackdowns on the Christian populations of Macedonia. A Royalist Yugoslav army house was built over it. Today the area is near a pedestrianized street where modern cafés cater to locals and international guests, considered to be one of the nicest modernization efforts in the city in recent years.

‘Jew’ still an insult in German schools

By Toby Axelrod, Berlin
Offensive use of the word “Jew” among young Germans is the result of failings in Holocaust education, new research suggests.Around 60 educators were interviewed for the study by the Bavarian State Central Office for Political Education (BPB), the Federal Foreign Ministry, and Munich’s Ludwig-Maximilian University.According to BPB historian Robert Sigel, who oversaw the project, teachers were asked about successes and failures in covering the subject. It found that pupils of all backgrounds were interested in the Holocaust, but this could be stymied by poor or indifferent teaching. The phrase “Du Jude” — “You Jew” is heard regularly in schools, on the street or in football stadiums. Mr Sigel suggested that the use of “Jew” as an insult might be “superficial, reflexive... Most pupils come to see Jews as victims,” who suffered through numerous expulsions, pogroms and other persecutions throughout history. However, Isabel Enzenbach, an educational expert at the Berlin-based Centre for Research on Antisemitism, believed that young Germans “still have access to a large resource of antisemitic attitudes”. Gottfried Koessler of the Fritz-Bauer Institute in Frankfurt argued that Holocaust education should “focus more on the German side than on the Jewish side. Not only perpetrators, but also bystanders, and dealing with the ‘grey zone’ questions, about how people reacted in everyday situations”. But Mr Sigal insisted that “the history of the victims remains the decisive point. There were Jews who rescued both Jews and non-Jews. And that broadens the understanding, away from this misperception that they were merely victims.”

CCD applauds Harper government for withdrawal of support for UN 'anti-racism' conference

Ottawa, Canada - The Stephen Harper government has withdrawn its support for a UN anti-racism conference scheduled to take place next year in South Africa, according to a media release today from the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.
Jason Kenney, secretary of state for multiculturalism and Canadian identity, said today that the conference, like its predecessor in 2001, "has gone completely off the rails... Canada is interested in combating racism, not promoting it. We'll attend any conference that is opposed to racism and intolerance, not those that actually promote racism and intolerance".
"Canadians are shocked when they hear the clear and simple expression of reality by their leaders," said Alastair Gordon, president of the Canadian Coalition for Democracies (CCD). "We are used to hearing double-speak from our politicians -- fantasies that are at odds with the reality that most Canadians see and the values that they hold."
The last UN anti-racism conference held in Durban in 2001 degenerated into a hate-fest of anti-Jewish and anti-Israel vitriol, while the most egregious human rights violators escaped criticism. The Toronto Star today reported that "all of the non-governmental organizations invited to the first conference have been invited back to the second, including those that were at the 'forefront of the hatred', some of which posted pro-Hitler posters at the 2001 gathering."
The United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) is in charge of planning for the conference, an entity that has directed 93% of its resolutions on human rights violations at just one nation - Israel. Iran is a member of the organizing committee, despite its government's open call to wipe the Jewish homeland off the face of the earth.
"The Stephen Harper government has again demonstrated that Canada can project power as a moral leader in international affairs," added Gordon. "A nation does not need a massive military to provide the moral leadership and clarity that denies legitimacy to Orwellian UN agencies that hijack the language of human rights to promote Jew-hatred.
"Stephen Harper has signaled that Canada will act on principle, regardless of UN consensus. This is the stuff of global leadership."

Kosovo Albanian PM proud of atrocities against Serbs

SERBIANNA
Kosovo's Muslim separatist Prime Minister Hashim Thaci refused to apologize for crimes committed against Serbs in 1999 while he was a leader of the Kosovo Liberation Army. Over two thirds of Kosovo's Serb Christians population has been either murdered or expelled by Thaci's forces.
"We have made all achievements together with help from the international community," remarked Thaci when asked at a press conference in the Caglavica Media Centre as to whether he felt guilty of crimes committed against Serbs and whether he would apologize at the beginning of his term.
Thaci added that he was very proud of his past and the past of his people, who, together with NATO, had achieved their goal.
"Now, we should focus on the future, a decision on the status or the day of proclaiming independence will come very soon," said Thaci.

Most Europe’s Parliamentary Groups Urge Continuation of Kosovo Province Talks

Reporting from Strasbourg, Tanjug informs that most of the parliamentary groups of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on Tuesday voted in favor of the continuation of the talks on the future status of Kosovo and Metohija, underscoring the necessity of a compromise solution.
During a debate on a draft resolution on the situation in Kosovo tabled by Lord Russell-Johnston, representatives of the European People's Party, European Democratic Group, United European Left and Socialist Group did not agree with the conclusions of the British parliamentarian.
Lord Russell-Johnston’s report said that “chances for the search for a solution had been exhausted” and that a decision on the status of Serbia's southern province need to be imposed. The Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe was the only parliamentary group to back his report.
There is still enough room for a dialogue, while halting the dialogue would be a negative factor, and victory of one side and defeat of the other is not the best solution, said representative of the Group of the European People's Party, warning of the dangers of a precedent.
Russian deputy Konstantin Kosachev evaluated that another cause of the Kosovo crisis was support to separatism coming from America and some European countries, which had been sending clear messages and thus made the talks on the future status nonsensical.
The European Parliamentary Socialist Group stated that this is an exceptionally sensitive and explosive issue, which requires more caution. The Group urged for respect of UN SC Resolution 1244, which guarantees Serbia's sovereignty and territorial integrity and urges for an international framework for resolving the issue.

American Serbs: Vote Romney!

Yes, I’ve been torn between the one that talks the liberty talk, Ron Paul, and the one that will actually win and enhance the liberty, even for just a bit as some argue, so I endorse Mitt Romney and urge all American Serbs to get behind Romney.
For all the talk of his Mormon background, Romney actually worked on building a family as oppose to acquiring one for political benefits or holding on to one for political gain.
…and yes, Romney knows few things about making wealth rather then just spending it. As President, Romney will be more effective in creating wealth for Americans rather then just using one’s wife wealth to gain political power.

Hollywood Support for Serbia Grows

Carrying the information from Frankfurt daily News, RTS reported on Sunday that, after two among the most popular Hollywood stars, George Clooney and Sharon Stone, announced they will organize a protest against severing province of Kosovo and Metohija from the rest of Serbia, they were joined by Richard Gere and the all-time favorite James Bond — Sir Sean Connery.
“In case Serbian officials and Russia do not succeed in preserving Kosovo, the celebrated Hollywood stars might. The world's most famous stars will, most probably already next month, stand in defense of the southern Serbian province in Hollywood, the heart of international movie industry: Sharon Stone, George Clooney, and also Richard Gere and Sir Sean Connery,” the Frankfurt daily News say.
“Due to the presidential elections in Serbia, all diplomatic activities related to resolving the final status of Kosovo-Metohija have been halted, including the intention of the Western states to recognize the unilaterally declared independence. Once this issue gets to the forefront once again, which is expected to happen in February, the world-famous stars are determined to organize a protest in Hollywood, to which they will invite all the just-minded people from around the globe, to stand up in defense of Kosovo,” German daily reports.

From Afghanistan to Kosovo: Lessons in Shortsightedness

By Bojan Ratkovic
In response to the 1979 Soviet invasion of Aghanistan, Washington initiated a coalition with Islamic states in order to counter communist expansion into Central Asia. The Islamic states that took part in the coalition (including Saudi Arabia overtly and Iran covertly) saw to it that funding Islamic proxy fighters, the Mujahedeen, became the blueprint for supporting Islamic expansion elsewhere. The blueprint was successfully exported into the Balkans where both Saudi Arabia and Iran funded Muslim violence in Bosnia and later in Kosovo, mainly against the Christian Serbs. As in Afghanistan, the Islamists enjoyed Washington’s support in falsely portraying their Jihad as a fight for freedom from Slavic “aggressors”. But what are the consequences of Washington’s strategy?

Hollywood stars George Clooney and Sharon Stone plan to mobilize their star collegues against the unilateral declaration of independence by the Islamic separatists of the Serbian province of Kosovo reports International Radio Serbia, media owned by the government of Serbia.
Sharon Stone and George Clooney kiss at the Cannes 2007.
"With my coworker and friend Sharon Stone and her childhood friends of Serbian ancestry, I'll soon organize a protest against the attempts to grant independence to Kosovo," Colony is quoted as saying to the Frankfurt media.
Few days ago, UN secretary-general Ban Ki-moon chose George Clooney as the U.N. "messenger of peace" thus becoming the ninth U.N. peace envoy.
"I strive to use my popularity to help the mankind, to contribute to solving the number of problems afflicting today's world," Clooney said.
Kosovo is a Serbian province that is under siege by Islamic Albanian separatist militants who demand independence after they ethnically and religiously cleansed the area of Christian Serbs. Separatists have warned that they will go off on a violent rampage against the UN peacekeepers in the province and the remaining Serbs in case the world community does not comply to their violent demands for independence.

Anti-Independence Camp Gains in Strength at UNSC

Opponents of independence of Kosovo gained strength after this week’s session of the UN Security Council [held on Wednesday, January 16] which saw the pro-independence camp fall down to five out of 15 members of the world’s top body.
The session saw Russia's strong warning to the Kosovo Albanians, China's and Vietnam's open calls for respect of international law, as well as Indonesia's and South Africa's confirmation of the need to preserve territorial integrity, Tanjug’s reporter Aleksandar Mitic reports.
The pro-independence camp is now composed of four of the six members of the Contact Group which are in the UNSC (US, UK, France, Italy) as well as Belgium.
The other members of the Security Council have not pronounced themselves clearly on the issue - a setback for the US which had been arguing throughout 2007 that it had a clear 11-4 majority in favor of the Ahtisaari plan.

Kosovo Ahead of Serbian Elections, Nebojsa Malic

A Different Endgame: Decision in Serbia
By Nebojsa Malic, AntiWar.com
Three days from now, citizens of Serbia will head to the polls and cast their ballots for their preferred candidate among the seven. Between the media and the pollsters, there is an expectation that no candidate will get the necessary majority in the first round, and that the second round will be decided between the incumbent, Boris Tadic, and his perennial challenger, Tomislav Nikolic. Tipping the scales in that case would be the voters sympathetic to Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica, currently precariously allied with Tadic but sharing many views with Nikolic, especially concerning Kosovo and the EU.
In fact, this election will be a referendum of sorts on Serbia's future course. Nikolic is openly pro-Russian, even though he does not (as some allege) advocate isolation from the EU. He also firmly believes in keeping the occupied province of Kosovo inside Serbia. Kostunica largely shares these positions, although he remains declaratively in favor of EU membership. Tadic, on the other hand, gives good lip service to Serbia's integrity, but continues to believe that EU membership "has no alternative." He is also handicapped by the Western-fostered perceptions that he is "their man" in Serbia, and that he would acquiesce to a separation of Kosovo.
Contrast this with the upcoming elections in the U.S.: not only are there no clear front-runners yet, the policies they offer are but slight variations on the Imperial theme. With one notable exception, everyone is running for Emperor and promising more of the same, just somehow "better" because the "right people" would be in charge. Come November, Americans will have less of a choice concerning their future than Serbia.

Rewarding Terrorism and Deception in Kosovo

Rewarding Terrorism, Deception in Kosovo
By Andy Wilcoxson, WorldNetDaily.com
Eight years ago, the United States and its NATO allies bombed Serbia to rescue the ethnic Albanian population from genocide at the hands of Serbian troops loyal to Slobodan Milosevic in the southern Serbian province of Kosovo – or so we were told.
During the NATO campaign, the State Department told us 100,000 to 500,000 Kosovo-Albanians were missing and feared dead. State Department spokesman James Rubin warned us of "indicators that genocide is unfolding in Kosovo."
President Clinton compared Kosovo to Nazi Germany's Holocaust against the Jews. He said Serbia's alleged persecution of Kosovo's ethnic Albanians, like "the ethnic extermination of the Holocaust," was a "vicious, premeditated, systematic oppression fueled by religious and ethnic hatred."

Shameless Double Standards Most Westerners Refuse to See

It has been painfully obvious to the greatest majority of Serbs for couple of decades now that shameless double standards are a dominant feature of Western mainstream media and politicians in relation to every aspect of dissolution of former Yugoslavia, civil wars that followed and Serbian people in general.
So, the exact same people that will tell you that 1993 Christmas Day massacre in Bosnian village Kravice by Srebrenica-based Muslim troops, when 49 Serbian civilians were killed, was an episode which indeed never warranted more than a (cautious) condemnation — and certainly not any outrage or, God forbid!, direct military intervention by the NATO — those same self-righteous, pompous gnomes won’t blink an eye when reminded that 19 NATO states launched a merciless three-month bombardment over Federal Republic of Yugoslavia under a pretext that Serbian police has massacred 45 Albanians in the village of Racak, on January 15, 1999.
You see, 49 massacred Serbs at the beginning of the war are easy to forget, 45 Albanian Muslims at the end of a war are deemed a sufficient cause to start a 78-day aggression on a sovereign state, dealing with foreign funded and trained terrorists who seek to dismember that state. So much so, that then-German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer called Racak “the turning point” when the moral imperative of making war on Serbia became apparent.
To make things worse and to show how thoroughly brainwashed Western masses really are, after completely losing their capacity for critical thinking, the alleged “Racak Masacre” that instigated NATO carnage was no more than a rather clumsy hoax.

Hillary’s oral principles

M. Bozinovich
Hillary has always expressed remarkable fidelity to her husband’s pervasive lasciviousness. “There are worse things than infidelity,” Hillary once reminisced about her husband’s veracious appetite for sex with many women.
Hillary’s toleration of personal indignity and treason in marriage is a remarkable display of love of disloyalty and sedition.
As a President, would Hillary love those that defile America just the way her husband defiled her marriage? Would she build the American future with those that husband infidelity against the American principles?
The repugnance of her marriage is about to be writ large upon America: a woman president that tolerates the most intimate insult against her dignity yet displays fake tears in a New Hampshire cafe about insignificant trivialities that preclude her from political power.
So we eagerly await for Hillary to remake America in the blissful image of her marriage.

Austrian politician faces 2 years in prison for insulting Islam

Sharia Alert from...Central Europe. It has come to this: Susanne Winter faces an investigation and possibly two years in prison for speaking negatively about Muhammad and Islam. I wonder if, regarding Muhammad's marriage to a nine-year-old and its value as an example for Muslim men and Islamic jurists, truth and accuracy could be a defense. And I also wonder if she would be facing similar prosecution for insulting Jesus and Christianity. What do you think?
"Austrian authorities investigate Islam-bashing by rightist lawmaker," from
Deutsche Presse Agentur (thanks to Marked Manner):
Vienna - Remarks by a right-wing politician denouncing Islam and accusing the Prophet Mohammed of having been a paedophile provoked widespread outrage in Austria on Monday, with authorities investigating whether they constituted hate speech.
Susanne Winter, a candidate for the Freedom Party in local elections in Graz in south-eastern Austria, said on Sunday that Mohammed's marriage to a 6-year-old girl would make the prophet a 'paedophile in today's system.'
Speaking at a rally, Winter demanded that Islam should be 'thrown back where it came from, beyond the Mediterranean Sea.'
Winter later justified her attacks. 'There is widespread child abuse by Muslim men,' she was quoted as saying by the newspaper Oesterreich.
'Why can't I say this? That has nothing to do with hate speech. We want neither Austrian nor foreign paedophiles. I did not want to incite hatred, or offend a religious community,' she said.
Austria's authorities were investigating whether Winter's remarks constituted incitement to hatred, a spokesman from the prosecutor's office said. If found guilty, Winter could face up to two years in prison.

Ending the Serb-Bashing

Neil Clark Lets a Breath of Fresh Air in on Al-Guardian: It's time to end Serb-bashing
By Neal Clark, Comment is Free, Guardian
The Serbs have been demonised because they have consistently got in the way of the west's hegemonic ambitions in the region.
On Cif last week Anna di Lellio, who was a political adviser to the former Kosovan prime minister and one-time Kosovan Liberation Army chief of staff, Agim Çeku, claimed that "Serbian nationalism briefly subdued after the fall of Milosevic" is back in full force with its "old tactics". Di Lellio offers very little evidence to back up her assertion, except a declaration from the Serbian parliament that - horror of horrors - the country is determined to defend its territorial integrity in compliance with international law.
What is undoubtedly "back in force" with all its "old tactics" is Serb-bashing, of which Di Lellio is only one of many culprits in the western media (including, it must sadly be said, Cif). The Serbs have been demonised not because they were the party most responsible for the wars of secession in the 1990s - they were not - but because they have consistently got in the way of the west's hegemonic ambitions in the region.

To Brussels Only With Kosovo-Metohija Included

In Christmas interview with Belgrade daily Vecernje novosti, Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica stressed that the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) Serbia initialed and was prepared to sign with the European Union on January 28, clearly and categorically guaranteed Serbia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
While Serbia, as a party to this agreement, is prepared to strictly abide by all its stipulations, the other side, the EU, has “unfortunately, announced even before the Agreement is signed, it intends to breach it,” Premier Kostunica said.
“Namely, the EU intends to reach an unlawful decision to send its mission to Kosovo and Metohija, in order to start implementing the rejected Ahtisaari plan for ‘supervised independence’,” Kostunica said, adding that it is up to the European organization to choose whether it wants an Agreement with Serbia, or to dismember Serbia with its mission, since both are simply not possible.
“The decision is up to the EU. At the very instant they would decide to send the mission, the SAA would be breached, annulled and void. We do not wish for that, but we have no power to decide on behalf of the EU. In any case, I believe that not a single responsible politician in Serbia would ever give legitimacy or covert support to anyone, including the EU, to seize Kosovo,” Kostunica said.

Germany on alert after Lebanon warns of jihadist attacks

Eurabia Alert. "Fears of terror attack in Germany," from the Associated Press:
BERLIN, Germany (AP) -- Lebanese authorities have warned of terrorist attacks being planned on targets within Germany, prompting the Justice Ministry in Berlin to increase its security measures, authorities said Saturday.
"There was a tip from Lebanon -- a warning tip," said Stefanie Amft, a spokeswoman for German federal police.
She said that the threat was related to the worldwide terrorism threat, but would not give further details.
"It is known that Germany is part of this worldwide threat," she said.
The comments come after two magazines, Focus and Der Spiegel, reported that the German Embassy in Beirut had received a phone call earlier this month threatening attacks on German military or judicial targets.
Following the threat, Lebanese authorities on Friday arrested a Syrian al Qaeda suspect identified only as "Mohammed N.," Focus magazine reported.
The suspect allegedly said a German-Turk, a Saudi and an Australian were already in Germany planning an attack on Berlin's Justice Ministry or other such agencies in order to avenge the prosecution of al Qaeda suspects in Germany, Focus reported, without citing sources. The report said explosives for the plot were already within Germany.
A spokeswoman for the Justice Ministry, speaking on customary condition of anonymity, refused to confirm any details but said they were aware of the issue and had taken "increased security measures" to protect employees.
Amft said the tip received by federal police had been passed along to all relevant agencies in Germany, but would not elaborate nor comment on security precautions.
Der Spiegel magazine, also without citing sources, reported that explosives were still on their way, and were thought to be coming in to the northern city of Rostock through Russia and Finland.
It said the potential attackers were looking for revenge in particular for Germany's September, 2007, arrest of Fritz Martin Gelowicz and other suspects who allegedly were plotting to attack a U.S. military base in Germany and other targets.
The group was also inspired to act against Germany by the prosecution of Youssef Mohammed el-Hajdib, Der Spiegel reported.
El-Hajdib, a 22-year-old Lebanese citizen, is accused of attempting to blow up two commuter trains in July 2006 along with Jihad Hamad, who was sentenced to 12 years in prison by a Lebanese court last month.
The magazines reported that German federal prosecutors had opened an investigation of the alleged plot, but spokeswoman Sonja Heine refused comment.

The German "Rathergate"

Picture: BILD
Germany just had its very own Rathergate, or if you wish, Fauxtography scandal. The German blog “Politically Incorrect” (PI), which abbreviation also significantly stands for “Private Investigator” has published a video/audio tape of a talk show at the state owned ARD TV station. In it, nobody lesser than the German Secretary of Justice, Brigitte Zypries and one of her Turkish colleagues and member of the German Federal Parliament (corr.: member of parliament of the city and state of Berlin), Oezcan Mutlu, have a whispered conversation that was evidently not meant to be shared with the general audience and that PI recorded and made public . While a young and allegedly reformed violent Turkish criminal, asked by the talk show host:”What could Germany have done to offer you a better existence”?, answers “Well, nothing specific really comes to my mind. All the opportunities have been there, you just have to look for them a little bit”, a shocked Secretary of Justice and the Turkish MP have the following exchange:Mutlu:”Has he not been briefed”?Zypries: “He has”!Their mimics clearly show how they disapprove of the conciliatory words of their political client. So, the take of PI and others, including myself, is that the State media in Germany is presenting biased and doctored contents to the tax paying audience who pays for their own media indoctrination. Obviously, the young Turk had been prepared to say things along the party line of the German government coalition, to which the Secretary of Justice and the Turkish MP belong, and whom they represented during this talk show, had not been following his prepared script or “briefing”. They really expected him to complain about German “islamophobia”, nazi tendencies and racism in the general population. In light of the actual political background in Germany, where the people becomes increasingly aware of the links between socialist and green politics on one hand and the muslim immigration and entitlement on the other, this will not play well and I am certain, that Miss Zypries and Mr. Mutlu will find that their political life sucks severely after this episode. Then again, maybe not. A certain part of the German public is pretty enlightenment resistant. The ongoing debate about criminal young foreigners, mainly Arabs and Turks will certainly be fueled by this. This exposure of state media bias might also (hopefully) lead to the public relying more thoroughly on German and international blogs for pertinent information.Read the whole thing in German HERE

Exhibition Depicting Agony of Orthodox Christianity in Kosovo-Metohija

Church of St. George, destroyed by Albanian Muslims in March 2004. Prizren, Kosovo and Metohija, Serbia.
An exhibition titled “Serbian cultural heritage in Kosovo and Metohija” has been opened in Gracanica Monastery in Kosovo and Metohija on Christmas Day (Jan. 7 by the new calendar), depicting the agony of the Orthodox Christian churches and monasteries in southern Serbian province in the post-war period.
The exhibition is taking place under the auspices of the Serbian Ministry for Kosovo and Metohija and it will be open until January 27 — St. Sava Day — after which it will travel to numerous cities all over Europe.
"I wrote that the pictures depict the agony of Serbian churches in Kosovo, and that is probably the reason why Council of Europe Secretary General Terry Davis has not permitted the showing of this exhibition in Strasbourg," Bishop Artemije of Raska-Prizren Diocese said at the opening.
Nevertheless, the exhibition will be shown in Banjaluka and then in numerous European cities so that everyone can get better acquainted with the reality of Kosovo province, the Bishop stressed.

Serbian Interior Minister: EU Not Allowed to Occupy Part of Serbia

Serbian Interior Minister Dragan Jocic on Wednesday called upon the European Union to give up the illegal sending of its mission to Kosovo-Metohija and thus make the signing and implementation of the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) with Serbia possible.
"Serbia is a free and sovereign state and if the European Union wants to sign the SAA with Serbia on January 28, the European Union must observe our country's sovereignty and territorial integrity," Jocic said in a statement for Tanjug.
If the European Union made a "decision on sending its civilian mission, including police forces, to Kosovo-Metohija to create a puppet state on Serbian territory, this would violate Serbia's territorial integrity and directly violate and terminate the initialed Agreement," he said.
Jocic recalled that all Serbian state institutions had the paramount obligation to observe the Serbian Constitution, which had been approved by the people and which clearly said that Serbia's state borders were inviolable and that the province of Kosovo-Metohija was an integral and inalienable part of Serbia's territory.

Eagleburger: Efforts to Sever Kosovo Province from Serbia Deeply Distressing

"It is deeply distressing that the international community, including the U.S., is advocating the carving away of a part of the territory of one country, and is supporting the proclamation of that part of territory as an independent state," former U.S. secretary of state Lawrence Eagleburger told Voice of America.
"This is not something that the world would want to be established as a tradition. There are very good reasons for the opposition to the international efforts to separate Kosovo from Serbia," Eagleburger said.
Stressing that there are "strong reasons for opposition" to Kosovo's independence, Eagleburger, who was also the United States ambassador to Yugoslavia, pointed out Monday that "the disagreement over Kosovo can in fact be narrowed down to a conflict of the principles of self-determination and sovereignty."
While "it can be argued that there are problems" between Serbs and Kosovo Albanians, he said, "the actual problem is in creating a practice where the international community would take upon itself the right to order or secure through pressure the seizing of certain territory from nominal hosts, and to strip them of their sovereignty over that particular territory," Eagleburger concluded.

Czech EU Enthusiast Blasts Attempts to Dismember

Serbia:Washington/Brussels to Serbia as Third Reich to Czechoslovakia
Historical parallels show EU’s Kosovo policy is insane, by Jiří Hanák, Czech Business Weekly
The new year begins under the sign of the infamy that the U.S. and the European Union are committing against Serbia by supporting independence for the Serbian province of Kosovo. In this relation, I cannot help but reach for a historical comparison. When, in October 1938, British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain defended the Munich Agreement with Hitler as offering “peace in our time”, Winston Churchill said, “The nation had to choose between shame and war. We have chosen shame. We shall get the war as well.” To paraphrase— Washington and the EU have chosen between a restless Balkans and dishonesty. They have chosen dishonesty and will have troubles with more than the Balkans.
But let us leave Serbia aside, injured and demeaned as it is. In its current state of mind, it is imaginable that Serbia will turn its back on the EU and the West and will seek a safe harbor in Moscow. The idea that Serbia may permit Russia to establish a base on its territory is not as fantastic as it may seem. Desperate states do desperate things.

U.S. academic Finkelstein meets top Hezbollah official in Lebanon

By The Associated Press
A vocal American critic of Israel met Monday with a senior official from the militant Hezbollah group and visited villages in southern Lebanon that witnessed heavy fighting in the 2006 war between the guerrillas and the Jewish state. Norman Finkelstein, who resigned last year as a political science professor at DePaul University in Chicago, met Hezbollah's commander in south Lebanon, Nabil Kaouk, in his office in the coastal city of Tyre.

Seeds of Hate

By Jeffrey Goldberg
New York Times
One day in Damascus not long ago, I visited the understocked gift shop of the Sheraton Hotel, looking for something to read. There wasn’t much: pre-owned Grishams, a hagiography of Hafez al-Assad, an early Bill O’Reilly (go figure) and a paperback copy of “The International Jew,” published in 2000 in Beirut. “The International Jew” is a collection of columns exposing the putative role of Jews in such fields as international finance, world governance and bootlegging. “Wherever the seat of power may be, thither they swarm obsequiously,” the book states. These columns, which are based on the “Protocols of the Elders of Zion” — they are a plagiary of a forgery, in other words — were first published in Henry Ford’s Dearborn Independent more than 80 years ago.
Next to “The International Jew” was a copy of “The Bible Came From Arabia,” a piece of twaddle that suggests the Jews are not Jews and Israel isn’t Israel. And then there was a pamphlet called “Secrets of the Talmud.” Not knowing these secrets (I was raised Reform), I started reading. The Talmud apparently teaches Jews how best to demolish the world economy and gives Jews the right to take non-Jewish women as slaves and rape them.To continue reading this article, click here.

Srebrenica Christmas Massacre Remembered

Serbian victims of Naser Oric’s Srebrenica-stationed mujahedins. Bratunac Memorial, Republika Srpska, Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Memorial Service in the Church of Saints Peter and Paul and laying wreaths at the central monument in Kravice near Bratunac, Republic of Srpska (Bosnia and Herzegovina), marked the 15th annual commemoration of the killing of 49 Serbs, executed on Christmas day, January 7, 1993, by the Bosnian Muslim forces from Srebrenica, who on the same day also wounded 86 persons.
Muslim forces from Srebrenica, under the command of the Hague convict Naser Oric, attacked Kravice and neighboring Serbian villages from several directions on the dawn of Christmas Day and massacred all the inhabitants who did not manage to escape, at their doorsteps.
Over 1,000 Serbian villagers, carrying children and their wounded, managed to reach river Drina on foot, through the heavy snow and mountainous inroads, from where they were carried to Serbia on boats.

Vatican Openly Supports Dismemberment of Serbia

According to the online translation of December 21 article from GermanForeignPolicy.com, Vatican chief Joseph Ratzinger has officially backed Washington-Berlin-Brussels policy of dismembering Orthodox Christian Serbia:
“Shortly before Christmas the Vatican under the management of the German pope confirms his approval with the forthcoming secession of Kosovo. As high-powered members of the Catholic clergy declare, "a new phase" of the "order" for the poverty area can begin "with the independence" of the southern Serbian province. At the same time the church state intensifies its activities in adjoining Albania and uses - how Berlin - Albanian forces for the breaking of the Serbian or Serbian-Orthodox influence.”

US Navy Admiral Warns of the Upcoming Kosovo Train Wreck

Kosovo Train-Wreck Warnings
By James Lyons, U.S. Navy retired admiral, Washington Times
It is expected that early on in 2008, probably February, the United Nations-supervised Albanian Muslim Administration of the Serbian province of Kosovo will make a unilateral declaration of independence (UDI).
The United States has said it is prepared to recognize Kosovo, despite the objections of the Serbian government and more importantly, despite the fact that Russia, a key ally of Serbia, does not want Kosovo independence.
While unclear, it is likely a number of European countries starting with the United Kingdom, France and Germany will follow Washington's lead. Several other countries, notably Spain, Cyprus, Romania, Slovakia and Greece say they will not recognize Kosovo's UDI. The UDI would be undertaken without approval from the U.N. Security Council because of the vigorous objection of Russia and China, who claim no sovereign state's territory can be detached without its consent. Further, as pointed out by George Friedman in his Stratfor article, there was an absolute consensus that post-World War II borders of Europe were sacrosanct. Therefore, no borders would shift.

New Year Day attacks on Kosovo Serb homes

SERBIANNA
Eight houses owned by Serbs have been attacked in Kosovo on the first day in the New Year, reports FoNet news agency.
Kosovo and Metohija Coordinating Center says that the attacks have been synchronized and focused on a Serbian enclave of Kosovska Mitrovica in northern Kosovo.
One Serb house was set on fire and seven others were stoned. A home owned by Radovan Lazic was set ablaze just after the arrival of the New Year. The house is no longer usable.
Kosovo Serbs are habitually targeted by the Albanian Muslim extremists across the Kosovo province. Later in the New Year day, a Serb bank was blown up in a bombing attack in Kosovo.
Kosovo is a Serbian province, administered by UN since 1999, where Muslim Albanians are a majority by ethnically and religiously cleansing the Christians out of a province in order to make an ethnically and religiously pure Muslim Albanian state. Separatist Muslims have warned repeatedly that they will turn to violence if they do not get independence.

Islam's Trojan Horse? Turkish Nationalism and the Nakshibendi Sufi Order

An extraordinarily important and revealing article by Paul Stenhouse in Quadrant (thanks to GG):
ON AUGUST 5, 2007, an advertisement appeared in an Istanbul newspaper, Zaman, calling for applications for a newly established Fethullah Gülen Chair of Islamic Studies and Interfaith Dialogue, within a Centre of Inter-Religious Dialogue at the Fitzroy campus of the Australian Catholic University, Melbourne. The position had been advertised in Australia on the website of the Chronicle of Higher Education on June 8. The deadline for applicants was September 7.
