Austria: Turkish course for teachers

The University of Graz is developing a two year course in Turkish language and culture for teachers. The course is mainly for students who just finished their studies. The university developed the curriculum becasuse immigrant children in elementary school speak poor German and therefore have difficulties learning.The dean of the university, Gernot Kocher: We want to ensure that teachers in elementeray schools and special education have enough knowledge in-house to deal with Turkish students. We must ensure that immigrant children can also be educated and can thus be better integrated.
