German police forbids Solidarity with Israel
BERLIN – (EJPost) The German police has done it again, they prohibit any solidarity with Israel! At a demonstration on March 27, 2011 before the Berlin central station, where an anti-Israel group had called for a boycott of Israel, the police removed an Israeli flag and took two men into custody, because they refused to refrain from their peaceful expression of solidarity with Israel. During a pro-Arab exhibition, an anti-Israel group “informed” about the Middle East conflict, (The group accused Israel for apartheid and called for a boycott of Israeli products.) two men walked in the exhibition and held up an Israeli flag. That was all they did! They do not interfere, they not yelled, they do not rioting. Neither they chanted anti-Palestinian slogans, nor they presented any signs of anti-Palestinian views. They don’t called for any boycott and set nobody’s existence in question. They only showed peacefully the Israeli flag, to ensure, that Israel is not a devastating devil like the Palestinian Hamas claimed, but a lovely country with good and bad sides. This provoked the pro-Palestinian demonstrators, because the simple existence of the Israeli flag was already a thorn in their eyes. Just as there it is for the Hamas, the mere existence of the State of Israel and Jews is a problem to be solved at all. When the pro-Palestinians got up, to put an end to the existence of the hated Israeli flag in their midst , the police intervened. However, the police did not defend the right of two people, to hold up the Flag of a peaceful democratic country. No – they confiscated the flag of Israel and took the two people in custody.
