'They have no idea!' German TV show blasts Brexit as 'stupid' and British food as 's***'

Brexit Article 50 German TV Heute
A BITTER German TV host mocked Brexit by making some terrible “jokes” about Britain wanting to stay in the single market being akin to sleeping with an ex wife after a divorce.Heute Show host Oliver Welke said “even Scotland wants to leave your Empire” as he made disparaging remarks about Britain’s future prosperity outside the Brussels bloc. He belittled British industry, saying “nobody wants” our products and referred to the Queen as an “adorable granny in a castle”. Mr Welke said: “It's the same studio, the same host, but not the same Europe anymore. Last Wednesday the British EU delegate handed over the Brexit letter in Brussels. Yeah…the beginning of a dirty split.“And those Englishmen seriously believe they can continue to have access to our single market. “It's as if you, after getting divorced, would tell your wife: Listen, I hate you, I will move out, but I will come by once a week to bang! “And you will continue to iron my shirts missy!”David Davis came in for some criticism on the German equivalent of the Today Show, as Mr Welke added: “And how brazen they are. Really makes me mad. Here is the Brexit minister, David Davis is his name, a couple of days ago he said, and I'm quoting verbatim: "After Brexit we want to enjoy the exact same benefits as we did when we were EU members”. “Yes…and I want a pony and fit into size 32. “None of this is going to happen. I can't believe it. What are they thinking? "Continue to have access to the single market"... Even the Scots want to leave your empire.”“Come on, those Brexit guys over there have no idea. “Just wait it will be great without the EU, when we can finally agree on tariffs with every single tiny country again, for our products that no one wants. “And Brussels is always to blame for everything. Always.” He then went into some weird analogies about the Brexit negotiations having similar titles to popular British TV programmes and films. One zinger was to call Brexit “Harry Potter and the Order of the Brexit” which, obviously, brought the house down.Another was to align it to James Bond, calling Britain’s EU exit the “Quantum of Stupid” - again, laughter reverberated around the studio. He went on to refer to James Bond as an “island ape” and even made a crude analogy about the cast of Downton Abbey having to resort to prostitution in order to pay back debt after Brexit.
