An internet petition has started circulating in France that is to be submitted to the French Ministry of the Interior. The petition addresses the disregard of the French legal system for indications of anti-Semitic intent in the murder of Sarah Lucy Halimi.
Halimi, 66, was murdered three months ago in the 19th district of Paris by a Muslim terrorist as she slept in her bed. He stabbed her and, shouting “Allahu Akbar,” pushed her from the third floor to her death, in order to give the appearance of a suicide.
During interrogation, the terrorist claimed that the Koran had ordered him to murder Halimi. He was sent for a psychiatric examination.
Shortly after the murder, Halimi’s family claimed that the murder was a terrorist attack, and accused French police of trying to silence the murder for political reasons related to the French elections. Now an internet petition being signed demands that the French legal system not ignore the anti-Semitic dimension of the murder and the fact that the murder was a terror attack rather than an act of insanity.
The petition is being spearheaded by senior members of the Jewish community in Paris. It is entitled "Justice for Sarah Halimi, who was murdered for being a Jew."
