Ulm / Germany: Syrian asylum seeker arrested for rape



A warrant has now been issued for the arrest of a 23-year-old man. He is said to have tried to rape a woman in Ulm at the end of April. According to the public prosecutor's office in Ulm and the police headquarters in Ulm, the authorities found out about the suspect through intensive investigations. As reported, the 41-year-old had been lured by a man from the pedestrian zone into the vicinity of the Kobelgraben on the evening of the 30th of April. There he touched the woman indecently and tried to undress her. The 41-year-old defended herself massively. Passers-by became aware of the situation. That's why the man escaped. The public prosecutor's office and police immediately started the investigation. In the course of this investigation, the authorities came across further witnesses. Among them was a man who could give concrete clues about the suspect. Based on this information, the authorities succeeded in identifying the 23-year-old. On Friday, investigators arrested him in Günzburg. The Syrian asylum seeker last lived in Neu-Ulm. On Friday, he was brought before the competent magistrate at the district court, who executed the arrest warrant at the request of the Ulm public prosecutor's office. Now the 23-year-old is in custody. Meanwhile, the authorities are examining whether he is also responsible for further acts. These investigations are still ongoing.
