Villingen-Schwenningen / Germany: Arrest warrant against Syrian refugee for attempted rape



Officers of the Criminal Police Office in Villingen and the Schwenningen police station were able to arrest a 25-year-old man last Tuesday on suspicion of attempted rape. Meanwhile, an arrest warrant has been issued against the man by the Villingen District Court at the request of the Constance Public Prosecutor's Office. The 25-year-old is suspected of having pursued a 35-year-old woman on Saturday, 5 May 2018, around 7 a.m., detained her in the Mauthe Park and finally knocked her to the ground. The perpetrator's approach and actions clearly show sexual motivation. The victim fiercely resisted. The victim injured the perpetrator, who retreated so that the slightly injured woman could flee. The police investigations benefited from the exact information provided by the victim. Finally, the exact description of the person led to the trace of the 25-year-old. The 25-year-old is a Syrian citizen who entered Germany two and a half years ago as a refugee. So far, the accused has appeared on the police force for shoplifting and fraudulently obtaining benefits.
