After an 82-year-old woman was seriously injured and operated on in a clinic during an attack in the Weststadt district of Heidelberg on the 28th of May 2018, she died in a retirement home on the 11th of July 2018. The public prosecutor's office in Heidelberg initiated a death investigation to find out whether there was a causal connection between the crime and the subsequent death of the victim. The body was confiscated and is to be examined at the Institute of Forensic Medicine at the University of Heidelberg. The 82-year-old was on the road in Kaiser street on Monday, the 28th of May 2018, when an unknown man knocked her over from behind at 4 p.m. in front of the house no. 38 and snatched her handbag. During the fall, the 82-year-old had injured her shoulder so badly that she was admitted to a hospital. A witness had become aware of the situation by the loud shouting of the woman and had followed the suspect through Römer street to the area Endemann street/Hilda street, where he lost sight of him. The perpetrator was described as follows: He is said to have been 185-195 cm tall, muscular and dark-skinned. At the time of the crime he is said to have worn dark, tight-fitting clothing. The robbery department of the criminal police headquarters in Heidelberg had taken over the further investigations after the crime. So far, however, there are no concrete indications of the perpetrator.
