In the Jewish community in Mannheim, a meeting between Mannheim's Lord Mayor Peter Kurz (SPD) and his colleague from Hebron, Taysir Abu Sneineh, is causing irritation. The outrage is directed against the all diplomatic honours of Abu Sneineh's reception in Mannheim's city hall. Abu Sneineh was involved in a terrorist attack in Hebron in 1980, killing six people. For this he had been convicted in Israel and released three years later during an exchange of prisoners. The politician belongs to Fatah, a political party in the Palestinian territories. In July, he met with Mannheim's head of the city council in Mannheim to conclude a contract for the promotion of business start-ups, which is also supported by the German government.
