500,000 Afghan migrants are ready to enter Europe via unprotected Turkish-Greek border area

Up to half a million migrants from Afghanistan are waiting for a chance to sneak into Europe, Greek newspaper Kathimerini reports.

The newspaper says that 500,000 Afghans have recently entered Turkey from Iran and Iraq, with the intention of coming to Europe.

The worrying information from Turkey says that the migrants are gathered near the area of Andrianoupolis, in order to cross the mostly unguarded Turkish-Greek land borders in the Evros region. The Greek government has already contacted the EU, as well as Turkey, over the lack of border protection from Turkish side on protecting the border with Greece.

However, the leftist Greek government refuses to take any effective actions towards guarding the Greek side of the borders, which would prevent massive waves of illegal migrants crossing it.

Instead, they choose to blame the human traffickers and the massive number of migrants for the upcoming situation.

Gangs of Albanian, Bulgarian and Macedonian human traffickers take advantage of the situation and ensure safe ways into Greek territory via the unprotected borders.

The fact that Turkey is taking advantage of the migrant crisis to increase the pressure on Europe and push her own interests and the unwillingness of the Greek government to guard the European borders, could lead to a renewed migrant crisis.
