In history books you can read about the Armenian genocide where Armenian Christians, Greek Orthodox Christians, Assyrian Christians, and other minorities, were massacred in the millions in 1915 and the following years. They were slaughtered because of Turkish nationalism and religious hatred but of course to say this openly in modern day Turkey is still dangerous. Throughout history ethnic groups and religious groups have suffered because of countless factors but sadly in the modern period the same situation applies for many religious and ethnic groups. Alas, just like the abandoned Armenians and other minorities, today in Kosovo and Iraq all minorities face religious persecution and ethnic hatred despite international agencies being on the ground. Indeed, the plight of Christian minorities and other minorities in Kosovo and Iraq shows how indifferent the so-called Western world is towards Christian minorities and other faiths which fail to make headlines. More alarming, is that much of the mass media was quick to fall into “the anti-Serb trap” without a care about history or the reality on the ground. Therefore, in modern day Serbia minorities have freedom of movement throughout the land but in Kosovo the Serbian Orthodox Christian minority, Gypsies, and others, don’t have freedom to travel openly.

'One in ﬁve young Germans in dark about Auschwitz'

Sixty-seven years after the liberation of Auschwitz, one in five young Germans remain clueless about where the concentration camp was located.

Ten per cent of those surveyed for Germany's Stern news magazine were unaware that Auschwitz, where 1,100,000 Jews and non-Jews perished, was a concentration camp.

And 20 per cent of the 18-29 year olds questioned did not know that the camp was situated in Poland.

The results follow another survey earlier this week which revealed that some 20 per cent of Germans still displayed signs of latent antisemitism.

Last year was a record year for visitors to the site of Auschwitz, with more than 1.4 million people going to see the infamous gates and barracks.

Hague: Muslim party wants dog ban

Hasan Küçük, Hague councilor for the Islam Democrats, says dogs should be banned as pets in the city, reports De Telegraaf. The Muslim party says that the animals belong in nature, not inside the house. Küçük says that keeping dogs is animal abuse and should therefore be criminalized. He responded sharply during a council debate last Thursday, when the Party for Animals suggested more consideration for dogs.Paul ter Linden (PVV councillor) responded saying that pets are the norm in the Netherlands, and whoever disagrees should move to another country.

Organised crime problem dogs EU record on Kosovo

Four years after the EU’s biggest-ever police mission came to Kosovo it has not indicted any top suspects on organised crime, posing questions about its work and the integrity of Kosovo’s leaders.
Eulex itself is proud of its record. Its training of Kosovo police and customs is a success story. When the EU completes its Eulex review in the next few weeks, it is expected to reduce personnel to let local officers take over many day-to-day functions.
Eulex’ spokesman in Pristina, Nicholas Hawton, told EUobserver it also has “clear results” in chasing criminals in its war-scarred and politically complex theatre of operations.
He added it has 350 ongoing criminal investigations and that its judges have handed down 220 verdicts – 15 on organised crime and 20 on war crimes. One of the investigations concerns accusations that Kosovo Prime Minister Hashim Thaci used to run an organ trafficking gang. On the shocking case of Enver Zymberi – a Kosovar Albanian policeman murdered by a Serb sniper last year – its investigation has led Interpol to issue six arrest warrants.
A draft European Parliament report endorsed by the foreign affairs committee on Tuesday (24 January) urged it to “increase its efforts” in the Kosovar Serb enclave in north Kosovo and to “step up” its work on organised crime.
But it blamed EU member states for shortfalls: it noted EU countries are reluctant to send their best judges to Kosovo and it asked France, Italy and Romania to “reconsider” pulling home its so-called Formed Police Units – specialists in riot control.

Earlier this month, the Chair of German Parliament’s Human Rights Committee paid a fruitless trip to Iran. According to Iranian state media Thomas Koenigs, a German Green MP was even harshly criticized by Tehran for West’s “double standard policies” on human rights.
Mr Koenigs’ feeble position towards the brutal policies of Iran’s Islamic Republic is neither a personal nor a singled out approach when it comes to the history of the policy of “rapprochement” by the German Green Party towards Iran.

German kidnapped in Nigeria

Unknown gunmen abducted a German working for a construction company in a north Nigeria city where a radical Islamist sect last week killed 185 people, police said, underscoring the continuing unrest in the region.
The kidnapping came as Nigeria's new top police official took command of the nation's ill-equipped and under-trained force, despite already being tarnished by allegations he allowed religious and ethnic violence that killed 1 000 people in 2001 to spiral out of control.
Violence in north Nigeria continued on Thursday with the kidnapping of the German who worked for Dantata & Sawoe Construction Company Ltd. Local police spokesperson Magaji Musa Majiya said two gunmen in a sedan abducted the man while he was at a construction site.
Telephone numbers advertised for the construction company did not work on Thursday. The German Embassy in Abuja, Nigeria's capital, declined to comment.
A spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry in Berlin, speaking on customary condition of anonymity, said that authorities had heard the report and that the ministry and the embassy were working together with all resources to learn more.
Majiya said officers continue to investigate the abduction. No one claimed responsibility for the kidnapping, but it came after Boko Haram's co-ordinated attack last week in Kano that saw police stations, immigration offices and the local headquarters of the secret police bombed.

A man alleged to have threatened Germany in 2009 by appearing, masked, in an al-Qaeda-style video hinting that the Munich Oktoberfest could be a terrorist target, went on trial in Berlin on Wednesday.
Defence lawyers argued, however, that the state would not be able to prove that the 26-year-old defendant was indeed Ayyub H, chief of the German Taliban Mujahedin, who threatened to harm his homeland in a 13-minute German-language video.
'Germany is at war,' the masked man in the video said, surrounded by guns and apparently speaking from Afghanistan. 'Your mission here against Islam makes a strike on Germany tempting for us mujahedin.'
The defendant, whose name was withheld under media privacy guidelines, declined to testify at the start of the trial, where he is accused of membership of a terrorist group.
Another Muslim, a 22-year-old Austrian, was arraigned with him.
The video, which contained images of Berlin, Frankfurt and the Oktoberfest in Munich, caused alarm at a time when the beer festival with an estimated 6 million visitors was underway, and Germany was in the middle of a general election campaign.
Police with submachine guns patrolled key points for weeks, but nothing happened.
Prosecutors said that in reality, the group had not yet planned any attacks.
The two defendants, who are of Turkish origin, allegedly underwent weapons training with al-Qaeda. Authorities arrested the 26-year-old in Vienna when he returned to Europe and was allegedly trying to raise funds and find recruits.

Study: 20% of Germans harbor anti-Semitism

A new study by a Parliament-appointed commission shows 20% of Germans harbor "latent" anti-Semitism, but anti-Jewish crimes are almost exclusively committed by the far right.
The 188-page report – which draws on several different surveys and other research – puts Germans in the middle of the pack in Europe, with a German university survey showing more latent anti-Semitism in countries such as Poland, Hungary and Portugal, and less in Italy, Britain, the Netherlands and France.
The study released Monday said the surveys show that about one-fifth of Germans agree with anti-Semitic statements, such as "Jews have too much power in business."
The study also showed that 90% of anti-Semitic crimes are committed by right-wing extremists, who number about 26,000 according to official estimates.
It recommends better coordination of local, state and federal strategies to combat anti-Semitism.
The report makes reference to "a wider acceptance in mainstream society of day-to-day anti-Jewish tirades and actions".
“Anti-Semitism in our society is based on widespread prejudices, deeply rooted clichés and on sheer ignorance about Jews and Judaism," stated one of the report’s authors, Dr. Peter Longerich of the University of London, Holocaust Research Center.

Former German President to Praise Anti-Israel Theologian

Since 1992, the German concern Media Control has awarded an annual prize, known as "Deutscher Medienpreis." According to the company website, it is given "to a person who had outstanding importance in the media during the past year." Remarkably, the list of yearly awardees has mostly lived up to that ambitious description, including many illustrious and deserving personalities. Until this year, that is.
Four awardees were named for the 2011 prize in a press announcement on January 13, 2012. While three seem to be meritorious enough, the fourth is a Palestinian pastor who has devoted all his theological energies to delegitimizing the State of Israel. No, he does not just oppose "the occupation." He maintains that Israel is a foreign European body that lacks his own DNA connection to the people of the Bible. Moreover, Media Control has lined up a former President of Germany, Prof. Roman Herzog, to come and praise him.
Part of the problem may be that for this year, the twentieth anniversary of the prize, Media Control decided to abandon its previous winning formula. According to that press announcement: "For the jubilee of the Media Prize, this tradition is being broken in order to honor personalities who are quiet peacemakers and whose activity takes place without great media attention." In other words, people whom we do not know much about and who may not have done anything of note recently.
Lutheran Pastor Mitri Raheb of Bethlehem, however, is by no means an unknown character in Germany. He has published books there and he has given countless speeches in churches and church-related institutions. On February 19 next, he is scheduled to preach in the Berliner Dom, the principal Protestant church in Berlin, and to deliver a keynote lecture in the afternoon at another major church, the French Dom. Very handy for the award ceremony of the Media Prize on February 24.
To give a taste of his theology, we shall give an extract from a speech that he held in Bethlehem in March 2010. For nearly two years, anyone in the world with a computer, including the people of Media Control, has been able to read this speech and even to listen to it.
Said Mitri Raheb: "Actually, Israel represents Rome of the Bible, not the people of the land. And this is not only because I'm a Palestinian. I'm sure if we were to do a DNA test between David, who was a Bethlehemite, and Jesus, born in Bethlehem, and Mitri, born just across the street from where Jesus was born, I'm sure the DNA will show that there is a trace. While, if you put King David, Jesus and Netanyahu, you will get nothing, because Netanyahu comes from an East European tribe who converted to Judaism in the Middle Ages."
And he continued in this vein. I have written about Raheb's speech in another article, which is available in German. The article was even published in Germany last December by the official "Circle of Friends" in Baden that promotes good relations between German Protestants and the Jewish people (Freundeskreis Kirche und Israel in Baden e.V.). Media Control and its prize-awarding jury should have known about this major aspect of Raheb. Yet his citation for the prize, according to the press announcement, is for being a "quiet peacemaker" who "stands for understanding between Christian, Muslims and Jews" and is "the alternative to violence and radicalization."
Let us paraphrase this citation in words that do not disguise the reality. Raheb is a noisy denier of the very legitimacy of the State of Israel, which he seeks to undermine not by physical violence but by a radical theology that awakes enthusiasm among Christians, Muslims and even a handful of Jews who long to see Israel vanish from the map.
Whereas the Nazis spoke of "race" and "blood," Raheb is modern enough to speak of "DNA," but what is the difference? It is not just that for the Nazis Jews did not belong in Germany because their blood was non-Aryan, whereas for Raheb they do not belong anywhere near him because he thinks their DNA is European. The difference is also that Prof. Roman Herzog represents the new Germany that arose from the ruins of Nazism, yet he is slated to come along on February 24 and praise such a person. A former German president will be praising the man who delegitimizes an elected prime minister for having the wrong DNA.
Prof. Herzog has been placed in an embarrassing position by the decision of Media Control's jury. Since he is doubtless asked to deliver such speeches on many occasions, one cannot expect him personally to research everyone he is supposed to talk about. But the embarrassment goes further. He is also the patron of the Roman Herzog Institute in Munich, created by friends who cherish his ideals. Praise of DNA-theologian Raheb will not bring much honor to that institute nor, for that matter, to Media Control itself.
German-speaking Christians have already begun writing to Prof. Herzog to warn him about what he has got into. We await the response of international Jewish organizations.

The Interpol is quite specific in identifying the real importance of Southeastern Europe in the present day European narcotics market. According to the research of that organization, two primary routes are used to smuggle heroin: the Balkan Route, which runs through South Eastern Europe, and the Silk Route, which runs through Central Asia.
Balkan Route is divided into three sub-routes: the southern route runs through Turkey, Greece, Albania and Italy. Further, there is the central route that runs through Turkey, Bulgaria, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Slovenia, and into either Italy or Austria. Lastly there is the northern route that runs from Turkey, Bulgaria and Romania to Austria, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Poland or Germany. Large quantities of heroin are destined for either the Netherlands or the United Kingdom and from there on they are being distributed in neighboring markets such as Ireland or the Scandinavian countries. The anchor point for the Balkan Route is Turkey, which remains a major staging area and transportation route for heroin destined for European markets, mainly due to geographical reasons, as described previously.

When a group of high-ranking Nazi bureaucrats sat down 70 years ago today (Jan. 20, 1942), they didn't plot the death of 6 million Jews; they aimed at 11 million.
Dubbed the Wannsee Conference, after its location, it was chaired by SS Obergruppenfuhrer Reinhard Heydrich, who brought together some of the most efficient managers of mass murder history has ever seen.
The 90-minute agenda was direct, having been transmitted by Hitler to his deputy, Reich Marshal Herman Goering, and then onto Heydrich: "Make all necessary preparations" for a "total solution of the Jewish question" in all territories under German influence, coordinate the role of all government organizations in accomplishing that goal — and then submit a "comprehensive draft" for the "final solution of the Jewish question."
In other words, for the first time, the administrative, industrial and transportation resources of an entire nation would be deployed for the purpose of genocide.

Germany: Asylum applications jump to eight-year high

The number of people seeking asylum in Germany has jumped to its highest point in eight years, although it is still well below early-90s levels, a newspaper report said Tuesday.
Citing government statistics, the Süddeutsche Zeitung newspaper reported nearly 46,000 people applied for asylum last year, an increase of 11 percent compared to 2010. Much of that growth is driven by refugees from troubled Muslim countries including Afghanistan, Iraq or Syria. Pakistan saw an especially big leap, with 2,500 applicants - three times more than 2010. Other applications have come from Serbia or Macedonia, whose citizens have been able to travel visa-free to Germany for the last few years, although the German government says many of them are not legitimate candidates for asylum.In principle, those seeking asylum are supposed to lodge applications in the first European Union country they land in. But many are getting to Germany after bypassing Greece once they cross the Turkish-Greek border. Greece not only has a struggling economy but a poor reputation for dealing with asylum seekers.

Will Germany again undermine new EU sanctions against Iranian regime?

Today's Iran sanctions concluded by the European Union increase the pressure on Germany to finally comply fully to existing export control measures.The import ban on Iranian oil - despite fully coming into effect as on July 1st - is an important step to restrict the main financial source of the Iranian regime.Oil and gas revenues form 50% of the Iranian state budget and 80% of Iran's export gains. Also according to US sources, Iran sells sanctioned Syrian oil and therefore supports the murderous fight of the Assad regime against the Syrian opposition.[1]In Germany there is a growing scandal over the Iran business of the German company Hansa Group AG. Jonathan Weckerle, the spokesman of the STOP THE BOMB campaign, an NGO which is active against Iran's nuclear program, explains: "The German administration neither is willing nor is capable of effectively controlling Iran sanctions. Shipments of more than 150 Million Euros have been approved by the German export control office BAFA, although the involvement of a covert Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) company had became evident."[2] The IRGC have already been sanctioned by the EU."German companies and administrative offices have jointly cooperated in undermining international sanctions efforts. The standpoint of BAFA to see the responsibilty to adhere to sanctions solely with the exporting companies means in practice to open the floodgates to breach sanctions and to put the fox in charge of the henhouse" so Weckerle.According to recent media reports the BAFA (Bundeamt für Wirtschaft und Exportkontrolle) still has no Iran expert among its employees [3], and 2011 German export of dual-use goods with a possible military utilization has even increased in comparison to the previous year. [4] The prospect of newly promised negotiations with Iran over the nuclear program should not lead to a delay or a reduction of sanctions, as Tehran could possibly demand as a precondition and a sign of goodwill. Switzerland: Tunisian dad tried to sell children to their own swiss mum

A 34-year-old father of two has been sentenced to eight years in prison after he kidnapped his six and seven-year-old sons, took them to Tunisia, and told their mother to pay him 170,000 francs ($182,000) if she wanted to get her children back.
Janine Schoch, 30, said she had told Swiss authorities on several occasions that she was afraid her husband Issam would follow up on threats to kidnap her children, newspaper Blick reports.
“I did everything in my power to prevent the abduction,” she told Blick. “I reported it to child protection authorities, but they thought I was a hysterical woman who wanted to discriminate against a poor foreigner."
But Schoch, who lives in Winterthur, near Zurich, had her worst fears realized on August 22nd 2010, when Issam [not his real name] took the children and flew them to his home country.
Eight days after the kidnapping, Schoch received an e-mail from Issam. He said she would be permitted to move in with him and be with her children again if she agreed to send him 170,000 francs.
“It was as if he wanted to sell me my own children,” she said.
In October 2010, Issam was arrested during a trip to Morocco and extradited to Switzerland.
"I could not continue living in Switzerland,” the 34-year-old Tunisian told the judge. “I was treated like a dirty dog by my wife, her family, and the migration authorities,” he explained, adding he was not serious about the money he requested. “I am a decent person,” Issam added.
On Thursday, he was jailed by a Wintherthur court on charges of kidnapping, attempted extortion and issuing threats.
Although Issam is already in prison, Schoch has not yet been able to recover her two sons, who live with their grandparents in the Tunisian city of Jendouba. They have custody of the children following a verdict from a Tunisian court.
Still Schoch feels confident that she will soon have her sons back with her in Switzerland.
"When the judge announced the verdict, I felt the children very close to me. I realized it was a reality that I have a chance to get them back,” she told Blick.
Schoch met her husband in 2002 in Turkey, where they both worked as children’s entertainers.
The couple married and move to Frauenfeld, where their first son was born in 2004. A year later, their second child came.
“Then it all started,” Schoch recounted. Her husband began to pray, went to the mosque every Friday and removed his gold wedding ring. He insisted on her adhering to Islamic customs, but she refused.
Schoch said she initiated a separation after he started teaching his children to spit at Christian churches and the Swiss cross.
She hasn't seen her children in a year and a half.

Al Qaida 'planned to take German hostages'

Documents seized in May linked to al Qaida leaders indicate that the terrorist organisation was aiming to take hostages in Germany and other Western countries as part of a "war of attrition," according to a newspaper report.
In an article published on Sunday, German daily Tagesspiegel said security sources traced the papers to al Qaida leaders on the border of Pakistan and Afghanistan. The documents were discovered when authorities arrested two suspected Islamists in May 2011. One of the strategy papers said al Qaida was planning a combination of smaller and larger attacks in order to "drive the enemy to desperation." According to other documents, the terrorist group was planning to take hostages and then kill them. They also described plans to use poisons and disguises. Al Qaida reportedly expected that spreading fear among the population and the implementation of more repressive tactics by authorities would result in the marginalisation of Muslim communities, which would in turn bring in more recruits for the Jihad. German authorities found the documents, which were encrypted electronic files, when they arrested suspected al Qaida member Maqsood L. of Austria last spring. He and another man alleged to be his accomplice, 26-year-old Yusuf O. from Berlin, will appear in court on Wednesday. Yusuf O. is accused of helping found a terrorist group, the "German Taliban Mujahideen" (DTM) with other German Islamists in Pakistan"s Waziristan region, starting in September 2009. He later allegedly joined al Qaida. He and Maqsood L. are suspected of traveling to Pakistan in July 2010, where they were instructed to carry out al Qaida's mission in Europe. Security experts said the documents allowed German authorities to learn more about the al Qaida leadership's strategic planning for the first time.

German aid workers kidnapped from Multan

Two Europeans working with a German NGO for flood rehabilitation in Multan were abducted on Thursday evening from Multan.
Giovanni and Bernd, employees of the “Welthungerhilfe” (German NGO), were returning from Kot Addu after visiting flood hit areas, when they were kidnapped at about 7:20 pm from Western Fort colony, Qasim Bela.
Of those kidnapped Bernd Johannes, who was previously reported as a German, is in fact a Dutch national and was working as an administration officer for south Punjab region based out of Multan. His companion, Giovanni was an Italian national and was working as the program administrator in the same non-governmental organisation.
Intelligence personnel looking in to the case confirmed that foreigners had been missing for last many hours. Following their abduction, their cell phones had been switched off.
A spokesperson for Welthungerhilfe Farzana Shah denied having any information about the matter and said that she could not confirm whether the two personnel had been kidnapped, only that the concerned personnel were out of reach.
An eye witnesses, though, told The Express Tribune that four masked, armed men drove up to their compound in a four wheel drive. Three of them entered the NGO’s building and brought the two aid workers outside with them, stripped naked. They were then moved to an unknown location outside the colony.
According to police officials, one reason for stripping the men could be that the abductors did not wish to be traced via any homing device.
City Police Officer (CPO) Amir Zulfiqar Khan has started questioning neighbours as well as guards at the colony.
Police have cordoned off Multan city and checks on all vehicles entering or exiting Multan have been ordered.
Regional Police Officer (RPO) Multan, Mubarik Athar have alerted District Police Officers (DPO) of Multan, Vehari, Khanewal, Bahawalpur and Muzaffargarh too.
Welthungerhilfe has been working in the region for flood affectees. Farzana Shah said that the focal person for security of their organisation was in contact with local security authorities.
Italy confirms kidnapping of citizen
The Italian foreign ministry in Rome issued a statement, without giving further details on his identity.
“(The foreign ministry) confirms the abduction today of an Italian citizen in Multan, in the south of Punjab province,” it said. “The ministry is in permanent contact with the family of the kidnapped person.”
The ministry has activated its crisis unit and minister Giulio Terzi has asked to be constantly informed of developments, the statement said.
“As already in the past in similar situations,” the ministry “will be discreet and is seeking cooperation from the media in this context so as not to compromise efforts at freeing our compatriot,” said the foreign ministry statement.

Hamas chief meets Swiss envoy in Cairo

Hamas chief Khaled Meshaal met the Swiss Middle East envoy in Cairo late on Wednesday as part of efforts to normalise relations with European governments, sources in the Islamist movement told AFP.
A Hamas official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Meshaal and Jean-Daniel Ruch, whose country is not part of the European Union, discussed the possibility of relations between Europe and the Islamist group which rules Gaza.
The talks "addressed the political situation in light of the Arab Spring and the Palestinian political situation," he said on Thursday, adding that the meeting was attended by several other top Hamas leaders.
The Hamas delegation stressed "the importance of Europe being open to the movement and the need to end the bias against one Palestinian side in favour of the other," an apparent reference to its rival Palestinian movement Fatah.

Germany's New Islamic Centers -- Funded by Taxpayers

One of the oldest universities in Germany has opened the country's first taxpayer-funded department of Islamic theology.
The Center for Islamic Theology at the University of Tübingen was inaugurated on January 16 and is the first of four planned Islamic university centers in Germany.
The German government claims that by controlling the curriculum, the school, which is to train Muslim imams and Islamic religion teachers, will function as an antidote to "hate preachers."
Most imams currently in Germany are from Turkey and many of them do not speak German.
German Education Minister Annette Schavan, who attended the opening ceremony, said the Islamic center was a "milestone for integration" for the 4.3 million Muslims who now live in Germany.
But the idea has been fiercely criticized by those who worry the school will become a gateway for Islamists who will introduce a hardline brand of Islam into the German university system.
The three professors who will be teaching at the department (eventually there will be six full professorships) had to satisfy an Islamic advisory council that they were devout Muslims.
One of the professors is Omar Hamdan, a Sunni Muslim, says that critical analysis into whether the Islamic Koran was actually written by God is "completely out of the question." Pointing to double standards, some of those opposed to the center say there should be critical distance between text and interpreter, as when Christianity is taught in German universities.
Critics also fear that conservative Islamic organizations will exert their influence over teaching and research at the center. There are only two independent experts on the advisory board of the Tübingen center. The other five individuals belong to groups such as the Turkish-Islamic Union for Islamic Affairs (DITIB), which is a branch of the Turkish government.
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan uses DITIB to control over 900 mosques in Germany -- to prevent Turkish immigrants from integrating into German society.
During a trip to Germany in November 2011, Erdogan said that Berlin's insistence that immigrants who want to live in Germany must integrate and learn the German language is "against human rights."
In February 2011, Erdogan told a crowd of more than 10,000 Turkish immigrants: "We are against assimilation. No one should be able to rip us away from our culture and civilization." In 2008, he also said, "assimilation is a crime against humanity" and urged the Turkish immigrants there to resist assimilation into the West.
In March 2010, Erdogan called on Germany open Turkish-language grade schools and high schools, presumably to be controlled by DITIB.
Previously, Erdogan had said: "The mosques are our barracks, the domes our helmets, the minarets our bayonets and the faithful our soldiers..." -- a declaration many interpreted as a call for the Islamization of Europe.
Aside from the center in Tübingen, Islamic theology departments are also set to open in 2012 in Münster/Osnabrück, Erlangen/Nürnberg and Frankfurt/Gießen.
The German government will pay the salaries for professors and other staff at all four Islamic centers for the next five years, at a total cost of €20 million ($25 million).
According to the Education Ministry, over the next few years Germany will have a demand for more than 2,000 teachers of Islam, who will be needed to instruct more than 700,000 Muslim children.
Germany is opening its doors to Islam at a time when its government is also cracking down on those who criticize Muslim immigration and the Islamization of Europe.
Less than a week before the Tübingen Islamic center was inaugurated, it came to light that the German domestic intelligence agency -- the Bundesamt für Verfassungsschutz (BfV) -- is looking into whether German citizens who criticize Muslims and Islam are fomenting hate and are thus criminally guilty of "breaching" the German constitution.
The BfV's move marks a significant setback for the exercise of free speech in Germany.
The issue has become part of the larger debate over the question of Muslim immigration and the establishment of a parallel Islamic society in Germany.
In November 2011, the German Federal Ministry of the Family released a 160-page report, "Forced Marriages in Germany: Numbers and Analysis of Counseling Cases," which revealed that thousands of young women and girls in Germany are victims of forced marriages every year. Most of the victims come from Muslim families; many have been threatened with violence and often death.
In September 2011, a new book "Judges Without Law: Islamic Parallel Justice Endangers Our Constitutional State," disclosed that Islamic Sharia courts are now operating in all of Germany's big cities. The book argues that this "parallel justice system" is undermining the rule of law in Germany as Muslim imams are settling criminal cases out of court, without the involvement of German prosecutors or lawyers, before Germany's law enforcement can bring the cases to a German court.
That same month, German Interior Minister Hans-Peter Friedrich revealed that Germany is home to some 1,000 Islamic radicals who are potential terrorists. He said many of these home-grown Islamists are socially alienated Muslim youths who are being inflamed by German-language Islamist propaganda that promotes hatred of the West. In some instances, the extremists are being encouraged to join sleeper cells and one day to "awaken" and commit terrorist attacks in Germany and elsewhere.
Back in Tübingen, Education Minister Schavan says she is "placing a lot of trust" in the new Islamic center, which she hopes will "contribute to the further development of Islamic theology."

Last column - overall percentage of immigrants from that country dependent on benefits

As you can see, our Muslim friends are the star performers in the benefit charts. To them there is no shame in it. It is just jizya rightfully paid to them by the infidel.

We are particularly shocked that the University of Geneva has agreed to host on January 18 a meeting in which Hamas spokesman Musheer Al Masri is due to speak.
Terrorism is a scourge for the world. Hamas is a terrorist organisation.

Besides Hamas educational program, based on brainwashing, transmitting hatred to children, submitting them to paramilitary training and advocating "martyrdom" (meaning death) as the greatest individual achievement, cannot be tolerated in a University without tarnishing its image for ever.
Ismael Haniyeh ´s recent visit to Tunisia has occasioned heinous antisemitic incidents, proving that Hamas has not changed and that it stays guided by an atrocious charter which pursues a genocidal goal.
We believe encouraging Hamas destroys the hope of a peaceful solution in the Middle East.
We also fear it will only encourage the spreading of terrorism in a troubled world. Organizations so far fighting peacefully for their demands may well change their minds when they see that terror is rewarded and entitled to Swiss hospitality.
Hoping all democratic organizations to join into this protest, we urge the Swiss Federal Government and Parliament to take into account the human rights of Hamas victims and their families who deserve justice and consideration, like all terror victims.

The US ratings agencies, he says, had no conceivable reason to downgrade nine eurozone states last week. What this is really about is a political project aimed at advancing 'Anglo-Saxon interests' in Europe. Americans have been becoming increasingly anti-European, as Mitt Romney's campaign shows. (I have no idea either, but that's what he says.) Then again, it's not really their fault, since they've been fed lies by Anglo-Saxon media moguls for decades.

Germany opens first university department of Islamic theology

Tuebingen, Germany - Germany, home to 4 million Muslims, officially opened its first university department of Islamic theology Monday, with 36 students enrolled for bachelor's degrees.
The government of Chancellor Angela Merkel faced resistance from conservatives to funding the department, the first of four around the country, but argued that graduates would be the best antidote to self-taught 'hate preachers.'
Education Minister Annette Schavan, who is herself a graduate in Catholic theology, said at the opening the school was a 'milestone for integration' of Muslims who make up 5 per cent of the population.
'Religion needs to be thought through,' she said, rejecting claims that a backward brand of Islam would dominate at the school. She said Germany would now contribute to 'advances in Islamic theology.'
The three professors at the department had to satisfy an Islamic advisory council that they were devout Muslims. They also have advanced western academic qualifications. All teaching will be conducted in German, but Arabic, the language of the Koran, is a compulsory subject.
Tuebingen, a public university where tuition is free, is already one of Europe's leading centres of academic Christian theology.
Germany already has departments of Islamic studies, which take an academic view of the religion, but has never had an advanced institution where professors teach the faith.
President Christian Wulff angered many conservatives in 2010 by saying Islam now belonged in Germany. A 2010 book by a former central bank governor, Thilo Sarrazin, which criticized Muslim immigrants, sold more than 1 million copies.
The graduates are expected to seek employment as imams or teachers. The new school, which offers a four-year bachelor's course, has been in operation since October.

Radical Muslims plan biggest Swiss mosque

The Islamic Central Council of Switzerland (ICCS) is trying to raise enough funds in the Gulf states to enable the construction of a 20-million franc ($21 million) prayer centre in the capital Bern.
With three storeys, the planned mosque would be the biggest in the country. In addition to a prayer room for 270 men and 174 women, plans show that the building would have conference and training rooms, shops, underground parking and a garden.
The president of the Council, Nicolas Blancho, confirmed his fundraising activities in Kuwait and Qatar to newspapers SonntagsZeitung and Le Matin Dimanche on Sunday, although he said the organisation has not received any donations yet.
“For the time being, we’re just building relationships of trust with potential sponsors,” said Blancho, adding that searching for donors is a long process.
Last year, the president of ICCS visited Kuwait and Qatar several times where he met with “businessmen and high level statesmen”, not just to talk about money, "but also to have intellectual exchanges,” explained the 28-year-old Swiss.
Blancho said he also presented to his interlocutors the council’s idea of launching a popular initiative to counter the ban on the construction of minarets that was approved in a referendum in November 2009.
Aside from the massive mosque, the ICCS also has other smaller projects, such as founding an Islamic school in Switzerland, and setting up a travel agency for pilgrimages to Mecca and Medina.
According to the Swiss convert, his contacts in Gulf countries are financially clean and any donations would be made within a legal framework. However, ICCS has never previously made its financial resources public, says the SonntagsZeitung.
ICCS mainly represents orthodox Sunni Muslims. It was founded two and a half years ago by a small group of young Swiss converts to Islam in the light of the referendum to ban the construction of minarets.
ICCS has about 2,000 members, and has organized several controversial rallies in Bern. At its latest demonstration in October, the organisation chose a symbol reminiscent of the Jewish Star of David to draw parallels between the treatment of Jews in Nazi Germany and Muslims in the Alpine country of today. The move infuriated the Jewish community.

Switzerland: Muslim hacks daughter to death with axe for dating a Christian

It is no accident or coincidence that Muslims commit 91 percent of honor killings worldwide. A manual of Islamic law certified as a reliable guide to Sunni orthodoxy by Al-Azhar University, the most respected authority in Sunni Islam, says that "retaliation is obligatory against anyone who kills a human being purely intentionally and without right." However, "not subject to retaliation" is "a father or mother (or their fathers or mothers) for killing their offspring, or offspring's offspring." ('Umdat al-Salik o1.1-2). In other words, someone who kills his child incurs no legal penalty under Islamic law.
Syria in 2009 scrapped a law limiting the length of sentences for honor killings, but "the new law says a man can still benefit from extenuating circumstances in crimes of passion or honour 'provided he serves a prison term of no less than two years in the case of killing.'" And in 2003 the Jordanian Parliament voted down on Islamic grounds a provision designed to stiffen penalties for honor killings. Al-Jazeera reported that "Islamists and conservatives said the laws violated religious traditions and would destroy families and values."
Nonetheless, the media drumbeat is constant: honor killings have nothing to do with Islam. And so they continue, as no one ever challenges Muslim authorities to do anything to stop them.

Muslims Converting Empty European Churches into Mosques

The latest churches destined to become mosques are located in Germany, where the Roman Catholic Church has announced plans to close up to six churches in Duisburg, an industrial city in northwestern part of the country, due to falling church attendance.
Duisburg, which has a total population of 500,000, is home to around 100,000 mostly Turkish Muslims, making it one of the most Islamized cities in Germany.
Muslims in Duisburg are now clamoring to turn empty churches in the city into mosques, according to the Germany daily newspaper, Der Westen.
All of the churches slated for closing are located in the gritty Hamborn and Marxloh districts in northern Duisburg where Islam has already replaced Christianity as the dominant religion, and where several Catholic churches have already been abandoned in a previous round of church closings.
In Marxloh, all eyes are set on the Church of Saint Peter and Paul, which is the last remaining church in a part of Duisburg that is now almost completely Muslim. The church may be closed as early as the end of January 2012.
Marxloh also happens to be home to the Duisburg Merkez Mosque, the largest mosque in Germany. Completed in 2008 at a cost of more than €7.5 million ($10 million), the Ottoman-style mega-mosque can accommodate more than 1,200 Muslim worshippers at a time.
Merkez now wants to turn the churches in Hamborn and Marxloh into mosques and prayer centers that would serve as extensions of the mega-mosque. According to the chairman of the Merkez Mosque, Mohammed Al, "Regardless of whether it is a church or a mosque, it is a house of God."
In addition to Roman Catholic churches, some Protestant churches have also been converted into mosques in Germany, where the Muslim population has jumped from around 50,000 in the early 1980s to more than 4 million today.
In Germany as a whole, more than 400 Roman Catholic churches and more than 100 Protestant churches have been closed since 2000, according to one estimate. Another 700 Roman Catholic churches are slated to be closed over the next several years.
By contrast, there are now more than 200 mosques (including more than 40 mega-mosques), 2,600 Muslim prayer halls and a countless number unofficial mosques in Germany. Another 128 mosques are currently under construction, according to the Zentralinstitut Islam-Archiv, a Muslim organization based in Germany.

Honor killing in Germany: Five siblings suspected of killing Kurdish woman

Police in northern Germany think they have found the body of an 18-year-old Kurdish woman who had gone missing in November. The police suspect that the woman’s family abducted her because they disapproved of her relationship.
The police and the prosecutors assume that the body discovered on Friday in Schleswig Holstein is the body of Arzu Ö. (Photo), a young Kurdish woman who lived in the town of Detmold in North Rhine-Westphalia. Prosecutor Michael Kempkes said on Sunday that they were waiting on a DNA match before confirming that it was indeed the missing woman. The police would release no further details due to the ongoing investigation.The young woman, whose body was found in scrubland by the employee of a nearby golf course, had been the victim of a violent assault. Arzu Ö. had been missing since November of last year and police had already suspected that her five siblings forcibly abducted from her boyfriend’s apartment and possibly killed her. Her four brothers and a sister have been held in custody for months, but refuse to cooperate with the authorities. Her family, who are of the Muslim faith, disapproved of her relationship with a young apprentice baker because he was not a Muslim. German police had recently asked authorities in Turkey, where her family originally come from, for assistance in finding her.

Germany: The burning of books under the Nazi regime reloaded

Thilo Sarrazin’s book “Germany Abolishes Itself” is once again the focus of controversy. Plans by a Czech artist to collect, destroy and recycle copies of the book have been severely criticized for perceived Nazi connotations.
Martin Zet has not described exactly how he'll recycle copies of the book, which he views as xenophobic. But with the aid of the public, he wants to come up with a new purpose for the recycled tomes at at the Berlin Biennale art exhibition that runs between the end of April and July. The book, which was published in 2010 and contends that Muslims are largely incompatible with German society, has sold 1.3 million copies and sparked a wide ranging debate about immigration.Zet's plans have been slammed as being insensitive in light of German history. Historian Werner Treß, who has researched the Nazi regime’s burning of books, told the DPA news agency that every book, regardless of its content, was a cultural good and should not be publicly destroyed. Almost immediately after taking power in 1933, the Nazis began ceremonially burning books that did not correspond to their fascist ideology, including titles by Jewish and Communist authors. And Professor Julius H. Schoeps, director of the Moses Mendelssohn Center for European Jewish Studies at the University of Potsdam, said on Friday: “This is not an act of art, rather one of embarrassment, which should be prevented.”

The episode is on Latvian collaborator Viktors Arajs who led the Arajs Kommando group which was implicated in the mass murder of Latvian Jews during the German occupation of Latvia and Belarus during World War II. The Arajs Kommando was formed on July 4, 1941, by German occupation forces as “Security Group Arajs”, the Arajs Kommando, or Special Commando or Sonderkommando Arajs which was made up of 500–1500 Latvian volunteers into auxiliary police units and militia. They aided the German occupation forces in the executions of Latvian Jews during the German occupation of Latvia from 1941 to 1944.
The Military Channel noted the theme of the show: “It’s a convenient fiction that the Germans alone were responsible for the Holocaust. The awful truth is that some of the worst offenders were not German. Few were worse than the Latvian Viktor Arajs, who actively participated in killing of 30,000 Jews.”

Germany Attempts to Silence Criticism of Islam

German authorities have officially confirmed that they are monitoring German-language Internet websites that are critical of Muslim immigration and the Islamization of Europe.
According to Manfred Murck, director of the Hamburg branch of the German domestic intelligence agency, the Bundesamt für Verfassungsschutz (BfV), his organization is studying whether German citizens who criticize Muslims and Islam on the Internet are fomenting hate and are thus criminally guilty of "breaching" the German constitution.
The BfV's move marks a significant setback for the exercise of free speech in Germany and comes amid a months-long smear campaign led by a triple alliance of leftwing German multicultural elites, sundry Muslim groups and members of the mainstream media, who have been relentless in their efforts to discredit the so-called counter-jihad movement (also known as the "Islamophobes") in Germany.
Opinion polls show that growing numbers of ordinary German citizens are worried about the consequences of decades of multicultural policies that have encouraged mass immigration from Muslim countries.
Germans are especially concerned about the refusal of millions of Muslim immigrants to integrate into German society, as well as the emergence of a parallel legal system in Germany based on Islamic Sharia law.
In an effort to reverse this tide of public opinion, the guardians of German multiculturalism have been working overtime to regain the initiative by accusing the critics of Islam of engaging in hate speech to try to intimidate the so-called "new right" into silence.
The media campaign has been led by two financially troubled newspapers, the Berliner Zeitung and its sister publication, the Frankfurter Rundschau, as well as Der Spiegel, a leftwing magazine based in Hamburg that has long served as the mouthpiece for German multiculturalism.
In a January 4, 2012 interview with the Berliner Zeitung andFrankfurter Rundschau, Murck said the owners of anti-Islam blogs "have a disturbed relationship to the democratic constitutional state" and often promote "infringements of human rights protected under our constitution."
Murck continued: "I also see evidence of criminal relevance, such as making threats and public invitations to crime." He said criticism of Muslims and Islam constitutes "an attack against the freedom of religion, which is protected by Article 4 of the Basic Law."

The year did not start well for Germany's Chancellor Angela Merkel. On January 4, Mario Draghi, the president of the European Central Bank, appointed the Belgian Peter Praet to be the ECB's chief economist. Merkel's candidate, the German Jörg Asmussen, did not get the job although Merkel had intended him to replace his compatriot Jürgen Stark, the previous ECB chief economist.
Ever since the establishment in 1998 of the ECB, the central bank of the eurozone, the group of countries using the euro as their currency, its chief economist has been a German. Germany is the largest country and strongest economy in the eurozone. The ECB chief economist decides the interest rate in the eurozone. For Germany, a country which for historic reasons fears inflation, a German setting the interest rate was a reassuring thought.

A 25-year-old Muslim man born in Kosovo was charged on Monday with trying to obtain explosives and firearms to attack Florida businesses and a police station, authorities said.
Sami Osmakac, a naturalized U.S. citizen who was born in Kosovo - a disputed Balkan state once a part of the former Yugoslavia that declared its independence from Serbia in 2008 - was charged with one count of attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction.

Muslims Angle for Ownership of German Catholic Churches

The Catholic Church is planning to close five or six churches in Duisburg, Germany, because of diminishing patronage, and local Muslims wish to buy the churches to use as Islamic worship locations, the German daily Der Westen reported January 1.
Only 19 percent of Duisburg-Marxloh residents are Catholic, and the diocese already closed several churches there five years ago. Pastoral counselor Michael Dörnemann said church officials have explored many options, but see “no way around” this second round of closings.
Mohammed Al, the association chairman of Duisburg’s Merkez Mosque, doesn’t want the churches to sit empty or be demolished. He is among the Muslims striving to convince Catholic officials to allow Merkez, the largest mosque in Germany, to buy the churches after the Catholics vacate them, to use them for Islamic worship. Al explained the apparent incongruity, saying, “Regardless of whether it’s a church or mosque—it’s about a house of God.”
Germany’s Catholics have protested the planned closings and possible Muslim ownership with vigils and letters, and they have planned demonstrations if the sales go through.

In the German city of Duisburg, churches came under attack over the New Year, subjected to a barrage of rockets, fireworks and bangers.Tens of thousands of euros worth of damage was caused.
On Wednesday morning, a mixture of New Year rockets and numerous stones, some the size of a fist, were still lying around the Catholic church St. Ewaldi and Laar cathedral on Friedrich-Ebert-Straße....As well as the church windows, the unknown persons have smashed in all windows in the sacristy. Schulz doesn't dare to hope for much from the police: "Of course they always take down the criminal complaint very correctly. But they still haven't caught one perpetrator." Schulz would like to see a greater police presence in front of the church: "But then it's always: 'Sorry, we've got too much to do in the north." Schulz is afraid that he won't have to wait till New Year for the next broken window. Who "they" are, who throw stones at the church, Heribert Schulz cannot or will not say. Other Laar Catholics are concerned that the perpetrators could exact revenge. In off-the-record conversations with our newspaper, extremely aggressive young adults from the district are blamed. But no one wants to be quoted with their suspicions.

Duisburg is a heavily Muslim and Turk-colonised area. The mosque is just down the road from the church but, strangely, doesn't seem to have come under any attack.Of course neither the journalists nor the priests say explicitly that Mohammedans were responsible, but the implication is there. The journalists walk up to a nearby meeting place which has a Lebanese flag displayed out front. They see five young men hanging around outside and talk to them.
To the question of whether they knew who threw stones at the church windows, at first they answer negatively: "And if I did know, I wouldn't tell you," said one of them, who introduces himself to us later as Omar. We persist and ask the young men again whether they often go on to the church grounds and whether there's a problem there? "Yes, there are problems," says Omar finally, "if you really want to know, the problem is there's nowhere in Laar where you can play football!"...Not only they, but other young boys are brusquely chased away wherever they play football: "At the school, for example. Then we also play - together with Turks, Yugoslavs and Arabs - on the church grounds and then we're also chased away there and the police are called right away. Then we feel angry."And do you throw stones then? "Of course not", says Omar and grins.Father Andreas Rose doesn't find it at all funny. On Thursday he told the newspaper what he experienced recently when he nicely asked a small group of football-playing men not to disturb a mass that was underway by kicking the ball against the church: "I was insulted in the worst way and they were extremely aggressive," says Rose. "Terrible and sad."

Today is the Orthodox Christmas Eve, and to mark that occasion, Washington’s allies in the Balkans – Croatians and the Albanians in Kosovo – each did their part in America’s grand policy to gradually exterminate Serbs into a ghetto out of which they will be forced to negotiate either their existence or worse their total extermination.
So… Croatians attacked the church of St Cyril and Methodious in Croatia and the authorities are saying that the attackers are “unknown assailants” – euphemism for, generally, all Washington’s proxy Serb-killers in the Balkans.
In Decani, Albanian “self-determination” group gathered up to blockade the visit of Serbia’s president Tadic to this monastery.
These Albanian Muslims, keen to keep up the beloved Islamic traditions, gathered up so they can attempt to stone Tadic.

In Austria, for example, an appellate court in December 2011 upheld the politically correct conviction of Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff, a Viennese housewife and anti-Jihad activist, for "denigrating religious beliefs" after she gave a series of seminars about the dangers of radical Islam. The ruling showed that while Judaism and Christianity can be disparaged with impunity in postmodern multicultural Austria, speaking the truth about Islam is subject to swift and hefty legal penalties.
Also in Austria, Susanne Winter, an Austrian politician and Member of Parliament, was convicted in January 2009 for the "crime" of saying that "in today's system" the Islamic prophet Mohammed would be considered a "child molester," referring to his marriage to Aisha. Winter was also convicted of "incitement" for saying that Austria faces an "Islamic immigration tsunami." Winters was ordered to pay a fine of €24,000 ($31,000), and received a suspended three-month prison sentence.

Each cleansed Serb out of Croatia costs 41,880 euros

Helsinki committee member Drazen Rajkovic has calculated that Croatia’s expenditure in its efforts to either exterminate Serbs or ethnically cleanse them in the 1990s has cost the Croatian government about 10.5 billion Euros or about 41,880 euros for every expelled Serb, an investment that has gotten Croatia, with Germany’s blessing, into the European Union.
If we factor into this calculation the Serbs Croatia killed, marginal cost of Serb-killing goes way down for Croatia.
These conservative calculations of Croatia’s cost-per-SerbKill are based on the Western whitewash that Croatia has ethnically cleansed only 250,000 Serbs and assumes Croatia murdered no Serbs.
If we assume a more realistic figure of 500,000 ethnically cleansed Serbs and 75,000 killed, Croatian cost per nonexistent Serbian head goes drastically down to about 18,260 euros per expelled or murdered head of a Serb.
This may be a bargain for Croatia with respect to what the US is paying for forced expulsion and murders of Serbs across the Balkans but… it is way above what the Muslim Albanians in Kosovo are paying for their effort to expel and kill Serbs.
In comparison to the costs Albanians are incurring in their effort to kill Serbs, Croatia way overpaid for its effort to kill and ethnically cleanse Serbs because Albanians in Kosovo are doing the whole thing for free, thanks to the US that is footing the entire extermination bill.
When it come to mass killings of Serbs there is no better banker then Washington.

LA Police said arsonist suspect, Harry Burkhart, was a 24-year-old German national who carried travel papers from Chechnya. (FYI: Chechnya in Russia is 94% Muslim, from which several terrorist attacks have been launched on Russian citizens recently)
He had spent time in Germany, they said, but had lived in Southern California for the last several years. They weren’t clear on his alleged motives but speculated that he might have been furious over his mother’s pending deportation.
A senior LAPD official said the suspect had attended a recent immigration hearing regarding his mother’s case and erupted in a tirade, spewing angry anti-American statements. “I hate America” were the words he reportedly uttered after he was pulled out of his car during a traffic stop.
It was this incident that eventually led police to Burkhart. Several sources said the tip came from an official at the State Department…

Anti-Semitic conspiracy theories have long been a staple of the Arab and Iranian press and consciousness. Haj Amin al-Husseini, an Arab nationalist and "Grand Mufti," broadcast Nazi propaganda to Egypt during the Second World War. And the Nazi-inspired conspiracy theory of a Jewish-Freemasonic alliance, dominating the world, still appears frequently in the official media today.
For many in the West, the convergence of Egypt's pro-democracy activists on Tahrir Square last year was a welcome sight – as it should have been. Believing it to be a portent of a new era of liberal democracy and pluralism in the region, however, appears to have been too optimistic.
Reporting was partly to blame. The media covered the sexual assault of American reporter Lara Logan during the protests in Tahrir Square, but largely chose to ignore the fact that the crowd was yelling "Jew! Jew!" at her during the assault. Logan was raped with the hands of the assailants while others photographed her with their mobile phones.

Germany has demanded that non-political organizations working in Egypt including the Konrad-Adenauer Foundation, be allowed to continue their work unhindered – after police raided the offices of 17 such groups in Cairo.
The Egyptian ambassador to Germany was told to report to the Foreign Ministry on Friday. Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle said he expected an explanation for the raids, which people on the ground said were designed to intimidate those working for human rights in Egypt. He is expected to tell the Egyptian ambassador that the incident must be cleared up as fast as possible, and that the Konrad-Adenauer Foundation be allowed to continue its work without further harassment, the Süddeutsche Zeitung reported.Egyptian media said on Thursday that state prosecutors had carried out the raids accompanied by police to look for evidence that the organizations concerned had been working without licenses, or that they had been bringing money into the country from abroad. But Egyptian human rights groups said the raids were part of a campaign of intimidation and that police had seized documents and computers. They said such raids would not even have been carried out under the rule of former dictator Hosni Mubarak who was deposed in February, the Süddeutsche Zeitung said.Konrad-Adenauer Foundation chairman Hans-Gert Pöttering said things had to be put right in Cairo. “These events irritate us greatly and I call on the responsible Egyptian authorities to re-establish the capabilities of our Cairo office immediately.” He said the unhindered work of non-governmental organisations were crucial for democratic and law-abiding developments in Egypt. German police suspect Syrian student in murder of Israeli woman

German police said Thursday that a Syrian medical student was the main suspect in the murder of a 26-year-old Israeli in the university town of Goettingen.
The suspect, 24, fled the country shortly after the woman was suffocated on December 18 in her room at a student residence, police said. She was found dead in her room three days later, after friends noticed she was missing. Both were studying to become doctors.
The student's body has been returned to Israel.
A arrest warrant has been issued for the Syrian student, police said.

In Germany, it was revealed that thousands of young women and girls in Germany are victims of forced marriages every year. Most of the victims come from Muslim families; many have been threatened with violence and even death. The revelations shocked the German public and added to the ongoing debate in Germany over the question of Muslim immigration and the establishment of a parallel Islamic society there.
Also in Germany, a best-selling book published in September revealed that the spread of Islamic Sharia law in Germany is far more advanced than previously thought, and that German authorities are "powerless" to do anything about the Muslim shadow justice system in Germany.
The book says Sharia courts are now operating in all of Germany's big cities. This "parallel justice system" is undermining the rule of law in Germany because Muslim arbiters/imams are settling criminal cases out of court without the involvement of German prosecutors or lawyers before law enforcement can bring the cases to a German court.

Swiss village in uproar over asylum centre

Local officials from Bettwil, in northern Switzerland, have collected almost 10,000 signatures against federal plans to build a refugee centre in the village of 560 inhabitants.
Bettwil has been mobilizing for weeks against federal plans to accommodate up to 100 asylum seekers in a former military barracks in the village, located in the canton of Aargau.
The federal government plans to host between 80 and 100 refugees for a period not exceeding six months.
In the village, cars carry protest stickers and streets are covered with posters that read: “Yes to solidarity, no to the asylum centre”, or “Massive asylum centre, no,” the Neue Zürcher Zeitung reports.
Before Christmas, both the mayor and a committee representing Bettwil citizens travelled to Aargau to bring the signatures and convey their opposition to the government’s plan.
According to Jacqueline Wiederkehr, one of the members of the committee, the Federal Council failed to give the people of Bettwil a chance to voice their opinion prior to the decision.
The mayor of the remote village, Wolfgang Schibler, went further, saying cantonal and federal authorities had acted with “arrogance.”
Schibler has denied accusations of xenophobia, and is seeking to distance himself from extreme right-wing groups supporting his cause.
According to Weiderkehr, the asylum centre will bring crime to a village that boasts a single restaurant and a shop.
“We have zero criminality now, but if, all of the sudden we get 100 young North Africans with nothing to do, criminality will inevitably rise,” she said.
Protesters have decided to lie low until the next meeting with federal and cantonal authorities, set to take place on January 5th.
Between January and November this year, more than 20,000 people have requested asylum in Switzerland, 41.5 percent more than the same period in 2010.
The country is suffering from a shortage of accommodation for asylum seekers. In recent weeks, the Swiss press has reported that several refugees have been forced to sleep on the street due to a lack of beds in official centres.

Although the case has major implications for freedom of speech in Austria, as well as in Europe as a whole, it has received virtually no press coverage in the American mainstream media.
Sabaditsch-Wolff's Kafkaesque legal problems began in November 2009, when she presented a three-part seminar about Islam to the Freedom Education Institute, a political academy linked to the Austrian Freedom Party.
A glossy socialist weekly magazine, NEWS -- all in capital letters -- planted a journalist in the audience to secretly record the first two lectures. Lawyers for the leftwing publication then handed the transcripts over to the Viennese public prosecutor's office as evidence of hate speech against Islam, according to Section 283 of the Austrian Criminal Code (Strafgesetzbuch, StGB). Formal charges against Sabaditsch-Wolff were filed in September 2010; and her bench trial, presided on by one multicultural judge and no jury, began November 23, 2010.

They were featured in the comic story “The American Crusader Joins the Chetniks”. The eight page script and the letters were by Richard E. Hughes, the pencils and inks by Max Plaisted, who also had created the American Crusader character. The cover, featuring the character Doc Strange, was by Jack Binder, who did the inks and pencils. Thrilling Comics were published by Standard Comics in eighty issues from February, 1940 to April, 1951 by publisher Ned L. Pines in New York. The Better and Nedor comics groups were also published by Pines.

Arab-Israeli woman found dead in Germany was killed by an Arab because she was Jewish

Police in Germany believe that a young Israeli-Arab woman who was found dead on Wednesday in the University of Göttingen was murdered for nationalistic reasons, Channel 2 News reported on Friday.

The woman is 26-year-old Souad Hamza who was found dead in the German university’s dormitories. She had been a student of medicine at the university for six years.

The victim’s family lives in the Arab town of Kafr Kanna in the Galilee, the report said, but her mother is Jewish and the German police suspect that is the motive for the murder. The suspect in the murder, according to the report, is a resident of one of Israel’s neighboring Arab countries.

Hamza’s family had lost contact with her several days before she died and asked her friends to help in locating her. The management of the dormitory subsequently broke down the door of Hamza’s room and found dead body.

Is US shielding Bosnian Muslim war criminals

Recent extradition of a Bosnian Muslim, Edin Dzeko, from Seattle and with no relations to the equally named soccer star, is yet another case of a Bosnian Muslim mass murderer having gotten a domicile in the US.
Dzeko was even made a US citizen after less than 6 years of residence while most “legals” have to wait for full 7 before they even apply else they get rejected… unless you are a Bosnian Muslim war criminal, perhaps.
Evidence shows that Dzeko murdered Croatian civilians in cold blood… like a woman he shot dead as she was begging him to spare her husband.
But Dzeko is not the only Bosnian Muslim to be domiciled in the US to the point of citizenship.

The German Fixation

Angela Merkel may be an Ossie, but she was definitely channeling American emperors on Monday, telling the German occupation garrison in Kosovo that Germans "should always remember that our security and our peace back home are down to troops serving their country here.
"Pray tell, Angie, how does re-enacting the Third Reich's Balkans adventure contribute to Germany's security and peace? It is intuitively obvious to the most casual observer that such an argument is nonsensical - and then there is proof, too.Equally obvious is that Germany gets off on bludgeoning Serbia. This goes beyond realpolitik and eternal interests, too.
German companies already own much of the Serbian media and the banking sector. If they wanted a client state, Serbia was theirs for the taking - Djindjic was a Germanophile, and the Tadic government literally took groveling to a whole new level. No, there is clearly more at work here than political and economic interests. It could be historical memory - blaming the Serbs for thwarting German designs in both world wars, for example - or, more likely, an attempt to exorcise Germany's own ghosts through transference: if the Serbs are genocidal aggressors, surely the world can stop going to the Nazi well for the standard of villainy, right? (Yeah, good luck with that.)
Part of the trouble is that the victorious Allies chose to impose victors' justice at the Nuremberg trials, rather than try to explain to the Germans why the Nazi ideology was evil. In effect, Germans were to consider the Nazis evil because the powers that defeated them said so - and that's been their ongoing frustration ever since. It wasn't until recently, with Oliver Hirschbiegel's Der Untergang (2004), that the Nazis were approached as three-dimensional human beings rather than cardboard cut-outs, their villainy actually shown and explained. I dare you to watch the part where Frau Goebbels murders her children and make apologies for National-Socialism afterwards. If you are somehow able to do so, then seek help.
Yet it does seem that the Germans have "learned nothing and forgotten nothing", to borrow a phrase from Talleyrand. How else to explain the fact that Berlin, no matter the party in charge, thinks nothing of overtly supporting Hitler's henchmen (see here, with photos, and also here)? Far more troubling is that the British, the French and especially the Americans not only don't object, but actively support such policy. The only ones to object are the Russians - but they are shrugged off as impotent Cold War losers. Indeed, the Soviet contribution to defeating Hitler (90% or so of the war effort in Europe) is routinely minimized, and the Eurocrats are now endeavoring to equate Nazism and Communism. Russian support for the Serbs is dismissed as irrational feelings of ethnic and religious kinship, while Western support for Serbenrein Croatia or Magna Albania is supposedly noble, pure, and the paragon of humanitarianism (!?)
Germans understandably want to avoid constantly being compared to the Nazis. Don't act like the Nazis, then. Bombing Belgrade, supporting a Serb-persecuting chauvinist regime in Croatia and the establishment of a greater Albanian state, occupying Serb territory with tanks and troops, and insisting that Serbia become a member of the "European family of nations" but only if it gives up much land and its own identity - those are all things Germany did not just back in 1941-45, but again from 1991 onwards.
Want greatness again? Remember Bismarck. He wanted friendship with Russia, thought the Balkans wasn't worth the "bones of a single Pomeranian grenadier", and (reportedly) died with "Serbia" on his last breath.
Speaking of grenadiers, I'd like to remind those German (and Austrian) troops in Kosovo that, before they act on any desires they may have to shoot those pesky Serbs refusing to roll over and die, they ought to remember their Bible:

German export control agency BAFA for months approved Iran deals despite warnings

The German Export Control Agency (BAFA) approved exports for the development of the South Pars gas field, a project of the sanctioned Iranian Revolutionary Guards. The agency ignored warnings about Iranian front companies. STOP THE BOMB publishes the correspondence with the export control agency and is calling for the dismissal of its president Dr. Arnold Wallraff.
The Wall Street Journal reported on December 17, 2011, that the German Hansa Group AG since June 2010 brokered exports for the Iranian energy sector worth 150 Million Euros. Iranian partner was the Iranian company PetroKish, established in April 2010, which assumed the contracts and personal of Sepanir, an Iranian Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) company sanctioned by the UN in June 2010. Thus, the deals and technology deliveries for the Iranian projects could continue seamlessly. [1] The deals with PetroKish have been approved by the Federal Office of Economics and Export Control (BAFA), but according to documents leaked to STOP THE BOMB by an informant, the BAFA had for over half a year clear signs for a German-Iranian deception maneuver in order to circumvent sanctions.
Already on May 26, 2011, the BAFA received an export application by the Minimax GmbH & Co. KG, which included documents with the logos of the sanctioned IRGC companies Sepanir and Khatam al-Anbia. On July 14, 2011, STOP THE BOMB spokesperson Jonathan Weckerle informed the BAFA about evidences that PetroKish was an IRGC front company. On August 8, 2011, STOP THE BOMB sent documents to the BAFA with clear evidence for the likely roles of Hansa Group AG as intermediary, of PetroKish as Iranian front company and of Sepanir and Khatam al-Anbia as Iranian business partners. The BAFA was, among other things, asked to check the documents and to hitherto stop all deals that involved the Hansa Group AG. The BAFA answered that the documents were “currently checked”, but, as the Wall Street Journal reports, continued to approve the exports. [2]
Until today, we know of no steps by the BAFA to legally binding stop the deliveries to PetroKish and to cancel the export permissions. The BAFA until now declines to comment on the case. German Education officials are making moves to establish Islamic studies as a regular subject in North Rhine-Westphalia's public schools, in line with other religious courses about Catholic or Protestant Christianity.
There have been several pilot projects to teach principals of the faith to German pupils, who are offered the option religious instruction in most state schools. But a vote by the NRW parliament will give it a more permanent foothold until at least 2018, when the effectiveness of the instruction will be comprehensively evaluated.Although there is demand for the courses – there are about 300,000 Muslim students in the state’s schools – Islamic studies classes have been controversial throughout Germany.But supporters have argued that offering approved classes at about 130 state schools by vetted teachers could encourage the flourishing of a more moderate version of Islam among German youth. State Education Minister Sylvia Löhrmann said the parliamentary vote represented a “sign of more integration” adding that North Rhine Westphalia could be “a good example” for other states. But there appears to be some discomfort among lawmakers about the idea. Although the Greens and the centre-right Christian Democrats and centre-left Social Democrats supported the parliamentary vote, the socialist Left party voted against it, and the pro-business Free Democrats abstained.Officials have emphasised that the classes are held in German and are offered only by specially trained teachers.

Germany's top administrative court has ruled that a Muslim student is not entitled to perform prayers at his school because the act has the potential to create "very severe conflicts."
Germany's Federal Administrative Court found that although the right to pray at school is guaranteed by religious freedom under the constitution (Grundgesetz), students lose that right if a conflict is created in the process.
The court also ruled that schools are not obligated to accommodate Muslims by providing them with separate prayer rooms.
The ruling in the landmark case has both legal and political consequences. Not only do schools across Germany now have a legal basis for banning Muslim prayers, but the widely-watched case also feeds into the larger debate about the role of Islam in Germany.

Al-Qaida Still Planning Attacks in Germany

German authorities last week arrested a suspected terrorist thought to have links to al-Qaida. Even more concerning, he appears to have been pursuing attack plans despite the arrests of three of his presumed accomplices in April. Officials believe that more members of the so-called Düsseldorf cell may still be at large.
Halil S. is a man who knows his way around computers. When he went online, he often used a special service for encrypted access that prevented investigators from tracing his Internet activities. As a result, crack officers from Germany's GSG-9 elite police force had to be patient. Before arresting him, they had to wait until S. had booted up his computer and established the encrypted connection.
The moment came at 12:05 p.m. last Thursday. S., whose last name may not be made public due to German privacy laws, was online when GSG-9 officers broke down the door to his student apartment in the western city of Bochum. He lived there under an assumed name. The officers threw him to the ground and quickly secured his computer.
German security officials allege that the 27-year-old is the fourth member of the so-called "Düsselfdorf Cell." The group is believed to be the al-Qaida cell currently active in Germany and tasked with carrying out a major attack in Europe.
Three other members of the cell, Moroccan Abdeladim el-K. and two accomplices, were arrested in late April and are being held in custody. Authorities believe that S. worked to carry forward their plot. In May, he tried to make direct contact with Anwar al-Awlaki, the American citizen and al-Qaida propagandist killed in a CIA drone attack in Yemen in late September. Calling himself "Abdullah," S. raved to him about automatic rifles and spoke about an attack using explosives. He also spoke of his illicit plans to raise money. From Yemen, he received both advice and instructions.

Al-Qaeda branch in Mali has kidnapped a Serb, Slobodan Serza Lazarevic(photo), along with other westerners because of, they say, violence against French Muslims.
Lazarevic was kidnapped on November 24 in Mali along with others. A German was killed during the kidnapping.
French media says that a firm GeoLink, owned by Lazarevic, has been a front for French spy operations and that Lazarevic and another Frenchman, Filip Verdon, are experienced spies and weapon traders.
Lazarevic is known for his testimony against Milosevic at the Hague court where he testified in favor of the prosecution.
At the Hague, Lazarevic said that he was approached in 1968 by the Yugoslav communists to be their spy. He accepted the spy job but later he worked for the French service DST where he was charged to lead a group of 120 Serbian fighters in Congo.
Lazarevic is accused by Serb authorities to have lead an assassination attempt against Milosevic in 1999 under a group known as “Spider”.
It is not known whether Al-Qaeda wants to trade Lazarevic or whether they will behead him.

German anti-terrorism police arrested a 27-year-old man in the western city of Bochum suspected of links to a local al Qaeda cell and of planning an attack, the Federal Prosecutor said in a statement.
The man, a German citizen named as "Halil S", is believed to have been recruited by the suspected ring-leader of the cell who was arrested in April, and of having raised money for a planned attack by fraudulent use of the online auction site ebay.
A spokesman for the prosecutor's office said there were no signs of specific plans nor of actual targets, and he rejected a report in the online edition of Germany's Focus magazine that the suspect planned to attack the Bochum Christmas market (Photo above).
German Interior Minister Hans-Peter Friedrich said people had not been in danger, but that the case showed Germany and Europe remained a focus of Islamist militant plots.
"The accused is suspected of being a member of the so-called Duesseldorf cell based around Abdeladim El-K, and of being involved in attacks planned by the foreign terrorist group al Qaeda," the prosecutor said in a statement.
Abdeladim El-K, a Moroccan, is charged with planning a terror attack in Germany and of being a member of a foreign terror organisation.
Prosecutors say he attended an al Qaeda training camp in the Waziristan region of Pakistan near the Afghan border in 2010 and on his return to Germany attempted to build a network with an estimated seven to eight members.
"Investigations so far lead to the suspicion that Halil S. was recruited by Abdeladim El-K. for the planned attack... He was supposed to be responsible for securing the financial and logistical side of the attack," the prosecutor said.
Halil S. is believed to have continued plans despite the arrest of others in the Duesseldorf cell, to have faked identity papers and rented flats around the Ruhr area in western Germany.
Some 150 police officers on Friday searched 16 apartments and two businesses in northern and western Germany in connection with the case, the prosecutor added.
In 2000 German and French police prevented a New Year's Eve attack on a Christmas market in Strasbourg; 14 suspected members of al Qaeda were convicted for the plot in Germany and France.

A Munich court has found a 31-year-old German man guilty of recruiting members for al Qaeda and supporting the terror group by spreading propaganda videos online. The state court today sentenced Renee Marc O, whose last name was not given in accordance with German privacy laws, to three and half years in prison.
The court says he travelled in May 2007 to Tehran in a bid to get to an al Qaeda training camp in Afghanistan. But, after failing to meet up with a smuggler to get him across the border to the camp, he returned home a few days later. The court says he is one of eight members of a German branch of the extremist Global Islamic Media Front. The group used blogs and other forums to spread propaganda between August 2006 and March 2008.

The NGO STOP THE BOMB condemns the invitation of the Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi to Germany. The second international conference on Afghanistan ended in Bonn on Monday evening. The Federal Government had invited Salehi to Bonn under the assumption that the Islamic Republic of Iran could help to "create conditions for a free, secure and successful Afghanistan". [1] The German government still relies on cooperation with Tehran in Afghanistan. Recent reports of ISAF's military intelligence services have demonstrated that the Iranian regime is cooperating with the Pakistani intelligence service ISI in arming and training the Taliban. Newly arrived Tunisian asylum seekers have been dubbed criminals in recent press reports and described as “the worst we have had to deal with” by asylum centre staff.
But has this group of Tunisians really earned a reputation as troublemakers and if so, what is going wrong?
Unofficial police statistics from Zurich, published this week in the Tages-Anzeiger newspaper, backed up the alarming headline: “Number of criminal North Africans set to double by the end of the year”. Swiss Justice Minister Simonetta Sommaruga said her ministry was taking the problem of security very seriously and that the processing of Tunisian asylum requests had been given “top priority”. The minister has also discussed the problem of Tunisia’s image with the Tunisian ambassador. The majority of the more than 2,000 Tunisians applying for asylum in Switzerland this year have come through Italy, out of a total of 24,500 Tunisian nationals who landed on the island of Lampedusa in the first half of the year. According to the Federal Migration Office’s third quarter report on asylum statistics, about half of this total were given a limited-term Italian residence permit on humanitarian grounds.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel threatened Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu with the halting of a German plan to deliver a submarine to Israel if the latter refused to resume the transfer of tax revenues to the Palestinian Authority, German newspaper Welt am Sonntag reported on Sunday.
According to the report, Jerusalem yielded to pressure from Berlin and unfroze the funds. Shortly afterward, a German government official announced her country would build and pay up to one-third of the cost of a sixth Dolphin-class submarine to be delivered to the Israeli navy. The agreement in principle to provide the Dolphin-class submarine, which foreign reports say enhances Israel’s second strike capability since it can carry nuclear warheads, comes a month after reports that Germany was reconsidering the deal because of anger at the announcement of plans to build some 1,100 housing units in the capital’s Gilo neighborhood, over the Green Line.
The German official said she did not know whether those reports were accurate. She said Germany will pay up to 135 million euros toward the submarine, which will cost between 372m. and 520m. euros.
Talks on the deal for the sub stalled last year after the Germans declined to underwrite it, as they had done with previous submarine purchases.

German foundation dismisses Iranian deputy FM

Mostafa Dolatyar allegedly called for fulfillment of Ayatollah Khomeini prophecy of the destruction of Israel.
BERLIN – Rising criticism from prominent German- Iranians, NGOs and the federal commissioner for culture and media prompted an elite cultural foundation on Tuesday to eject Iran’s acting Deputy Foreign Minister Mostafa Dolatyar from its board of trustees because he called for the destruction of Israel.
According to a report in Iran’s Mahan News in 2010, Dolatyar said, “We hope that the prophecy of the Imam [Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini] regarding the downfall of this regime [Israel] will occur very soon and that we will witness it.”
A spokesman for Bernd Neumann, Germany’s federal culture commissioner, told The Jerusalem Post that one of the reasons Neumann resigned from the board of the Schloss Neuhardenberg Foundation last week was Dolatyar’s presence on it.
The Berlin daily Tagesspiegel wrote on Tuesday that Dolatyar was ejected because of his previous “anti-Semitic, aggressive anti-Israeli statement.”
Spokesman Jörg Kronsbein told the Post that the foundation was unaware of the anti-Israel statement from Dolatyar. The foundation has been immersed in criticism because of it close ties with Iran’s regime.
According to the foundation’s website, the institution seeks “to deepen relations” and is a “place of meeting” for different cultures.
In October, the foundation planned a discussion panel with Iran’s Ambassador to Germany Ali Reza Seikh Attar and German philosopher Rüdiger Safranski to talk about Iran’s 14th-century national poet Hafez. Anti-Iranian regime groups and Iranian dissident mounted protests, triggering the cancellation of the event. The foundation continued to defend its strategy of dialogue with Tehran and blamed the advocates of democracy in Iran for not allowing for a conflict-free discussion.
In an telephone interview with the Post on Tuesday, Dr. Shimon Samuels, from the Simon Wiesenthal Center, said dropping Dolatyar was a “signal to all German banks and corporations and their easy-going policy toward Iran.”

Tehran may be planning attacks on US bases in Germany in the event of an American military strike against targets in Iran, German investigators have reportedly said.
The Bild newspaper reported on Thursday that experts with the Federal Criminal Police Office believe in the event of a US military action against Iran, the Iranians would attack US military airfields in order to disrupt supply and logistics operations.Federal prosecutors have launched an espionage investigation against a German businessman possibly connected to the plot who they believe has maintained conspirational contact with the Iranian embassy in Berlin, Bild reported."We have an investigation on this issue," the head of the federal prosecutors' office, Harald Range, confirmed to reporters on Thursday.However, the head of the Federal Criminal Police Office, Jörg Ziercke, stressed: "We do not see any immediate danger right now."The report comes as tensions between Iran and the West have ratcheted up dramatically in recent days. A report on November 8 by the United Nation’s International Atomic Energy Agency charged that Iran was likely trying to covertly develop its nuclear weapons program. And on Wednesday Berlin temporarily recalled its ambassador to Tehran following the storming of the British embassy there by hard-line protestors.Western diplomats have said that Iranian authorities could have prevented the overrunning of the embassy but failed to do so.A series of mysterious explosions has also recently bedevilled Iran’s weapons facilities, although they have all been attributed to accidents.

US expert: The Central Bank is Iran’s most important remaining connection to the international markets
On Thursday, December 1, the EU foreign ministers will meet to discuss further sanctions against Iran. There are reports that Germany wants to block sanctions against the Central Bank of Iran (CBI). By contrast, France supports sanctions against the CBI and the UK already adopted them on November 21, 2011. [1]Avi Jorisch, former Policy Advisor at the US Treasury Department's office of Terrorism and Financial Intelligence, comments: „Germany must support the initiative of its Western allies to sanction the Central Bank of Iran. The CBI is Iran’s most important remaining connection to the international markets. Sanctioning it would greatly decrease the regime’s ability to acquire crucial financial and technological resources. Now is the time for a strong sign of international unity and determination against the global threat of a nuclear-armed Iranian regime.” The oil sanctions supported by German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle would be an important measure, but they must not be played out against sanctioning the CBI. Iran ranks only on place 14 of Germany’s oil suppliers [2], while Germany is still Iran’s most important Western trade partner and technology provider. Michael Spaney, spokesperson for the campaign STOP THE BOMB, adds: “It looks as if Germany still refrains from drastically increasing the pressure on the Iranian regime. Germany has still exported goods worth 2.3 billion Euros to Iran this year until September.” Especially the outrageous storming of the British embassy in Tehran must be followed by a determined European reaction. The violent riots were obviously tolerated or initiated by the regime and were aimed against new sanctions. Any sign of weakness and disunity after this provocation would signal Tehran that violence works, and that it can continue not only with its nuclear program, but also with brutally oppressing the Iranian opposition and supporting international terrorism.

A "financial war" against Tehran would be the most humae way of avoiding a nuclear one

This Monday was a good day for the Iranian people and a bad one for the Iranian regime: on 21 November 2011 the UN General Assembly condemned human rights violations in Iran, the USA reinforced its sanctions on the Iranian oil and petrochemical industries, Canada banned transactions with the Iranian Central Bank, France called for an end to purchases of Iranian oil and the UK suspended all financial cooperation with Iran with immediate effect.
Missing from this list, however, are Germany and the EU.
On 8 November the body empowered by the UN to deal with such matters, the IAEA, brought forward unambiguous evidence that Iran is developing nuclear weapons. On 14 November the EU Foreign Ministers met to discuss their response to the IAEA report and decided … nothing, apart from to postpone a decision until 1 December. This failure and the subsequent unilateral steps and statements by London and Paris show the divisions within and the impotence of EU foreign policy in this area.
In a communiqué of 21 November, France’s President Sarkozy described the actions of the Iranian regime as “a grave and urgent threat to peace“. “In addition to the unacceptable risk of nuclear proliferation, they could spark a military escalation in the region with catastrophic consequences for Iran and for the world.”
A threat of this magnitude calls not for prevarication, but swift and strong action: every day that passes without massive Western pressure increases the likelihood of a military strike against Iran. So what can be done?

WTs Kuhner mourns financial demise of his poodle Croatia

Jeffrey T. Kuhner, Washington Times’ columnist, mourns the upcoming financial demise of his Balkan poodle – Croatia.
“Croatia is on the verge of national surrender,” mourns he and says that “Having won its war for national independence from Serb-dominated Yugoslavia, Croatia is about to fritter away its hard-won sovereignty.”

More importantly, one should wonder why a president of the Edmund Burke Institute – as though anyone cares WTF Jeffrey’s “institute” does – is so concerned about Croatia so much so that many of his texts on Washington Times deal with this former Nazi statelet.
Then again, one should wonder whether Jeffrey’s love of Croatia is the Institute’s front for Nazism.
Let’s consider some of Kuhner’s invectives, particularly the one where he says that, basically, Croatia lived in the “Serb-dominated Yugoslavia”, against his support for various political forces in Croatia.
Social and political current in Croatia that emphasizes Croatia’s alleged “Serb-dominated” enslavement is claimed by the Nazi-loving nostalgists of the WWII Ustasa regime while the political support whom Kuhner publicly gives, via his Washington Times column, are Croatian political forces who say that embracing communist domination, led by a Croat Tito, was a matter of Croatian national salvation because Croatia would have been, they claim, wiped out because it would have had to eventually pay for its genocide of Serbs and Jews had it not been for the ethnic Croat, Tito, who led those communists, to save them by placing them into a “brotherly” Republic called Yugoslavia.
For Nazi Croats, Yugoslavia was an abomination and so was for the non-Nazi Croats, because they had to live with Serbs, accept out of necessity because Croat Nazis lost.
Political party lines between these two strands of modern Croatian thought are not so clear cut but, generally speaking, both have found an understanding: Serbs are to blame by both even though those two cannot get an agreement as to which Croat is more patriotic - the one whose father was a communist or the other whose Croat father was a Nazi.
By citing Nazi thought invectives and supporting non-Nazis, Kuhner’s invectives thread this strain of modern Croatian political thought but along a thin line: reconcile these two Croatian sides, for the love of Croatia!
So, is Kuhner a Nazi?
Perhaps not in the sense that he wants Jews dead but from the perspective that Kuhner is blaming another Nazi genocide victim, the Serbs… well, who knows. Those who suffered from Croatia – like Serbs and Jews – they may think so.
And what’s Kuhner got to say about that?
He will probably deny he is a Nazi, threaten lawsuit, and keep on printing Nazi-type invectives against Serbs (but not Jews) on Washington Post… perhaps be very proud that some text space is dedicated here.
