Berlin gallery shuts after Muslim threats

"They were very aggressive and shouted at an employee that the poster should be taken down otherwise they would throw stones and use violence."
By Madeline Chambers for
Reuters (thanks to all who sent this in):
BERLIN (Reuters) - A Berlin gallery has temporarily closed an exhibition of satirical works by a group of Danish artists after six Muslim youths threatened violence unless one of the posters depicting the Kaaba shrine in Mecca was removed, it said on Thursday.
The Galerie Nord in central Berlin said it had closed its "Zionist Occupied Government" show of works by Surrend, a group of artists who say they poke fun at powerful people and ideological conflicts.
On Tuesday, four days after the exhibition opened, a group of angry Muslims stormed into the gallery, shouting demands that one of the 21 posters should be removed, said the gallery.
"They were very aggressive and shouted at an employee that the poster should be taken down otherwise they would throw stones and use violence," the gallery's artistic director Ralf Hartmann told Reuters.
The Muslims objected to a depiction of the Kaaba -- the ancient shrine in Mecca's Grand Mosque which Muslims face to say their prayers -- which gave a "bitingly satirical commentary against radicalism," said the gallery in a statement.
Hartmann said the gallery was working with German authorities to improve security and he hoped to re-open the show as soon as possible.
"It would be unacceptable if individual social groups were in a position to exercise censorship over art and the freedom of expression," said the gallery in a statement.
Yes, it would!

UN Confirms: No Transfer of Jurisdiction to EU

According to Tanjug, UNMIK will continue its mission in southern Serbian province of Kosovo and Metohia until UN Security Council decides otherwise, it was confirmed in New York.
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon's spokesman Brendan Varma spoke to the BBC tonight to deny EU mission to EU representative Pieter Feith's claim that “the transfer of jurisdiction from UNMIK to EULEX has begun.”
"At this point the UN mission has not entered any transition period. We are still on the ground, as we have been since 1999. UNMIK will perform the duties entrusted to it with Resolution 1244, until UN Security Council decided otherwise," Varma specified.
Both Russia and Serbia are opposed to the illegal EU mission (EULEX), which the Union insists on deploying without the UN Security Council or Serbia's approval.

Western MSM Keeps Bending Reality to Suit Official Agenda

CNN was the only official media outlet in the West that has properly reported that around 100,000 people gathered Tuesday in Banja Luka, capital of Serbian Republic (RS) in Bosnia-Herzegovina, at another rally in protest against the unilaterally declared independence of Pristina separatists.
The figure of "more than 10,000" protesters in Banja Luka, cited by other Western news agencies (AP, AFP, Reuters, BBC, DPA et al.), could mean even the 100,000, because 100,000 is indeed "more than 10,000", but one would still expect that they wouldn't sink so low as to cut the number of protesters down to a mere 10 percent, or less, of the actual number of demonstrators.

Restitution of Serbian Orthodox Church Property in Kosovo-Metohia Province

Raska and Prizren Diocese (encompassing Raska region and the province of Kosovo and Metohia) of the Serbian Orthodox Church will soon receive a decision stating the return of 5,300 hectares of land that was seized from this diocese alone, during the agrarian reform and nationalization process in 1945 by the Yugoslav communist dictatorship, the Serbian government Directorate for Property Restitution Director Vlaidmir Todorovic has said in a statement for Tanjug.
Raska and Prizren Diocese should submit a request to the authorized local organs with the real estate registry offices that are located in all municipalities in Kosovo and Metohia province, so that the ownership could be recorded, the director explained.
Stressing that the deadline for submission of requests for restitution of seized property is Sept 30, 2008, Todorovic said 12 churches and monasteries from Kosovo and Metohia province have submitted requests so far, and that the biggest area of around 3,000 hectares belongs to Monastery of Devic.
Seat of Serbian Orthodox Church, Pec Patriarchate, which is also in southern Serbian province, is the next on this list, seeking restitution of 846 hectares, then the Monastery of Visoki Decani with 728 hectares, Draganac with 207 hectares, Gracanica with 100 hectares, The Holy Trinity near Musutiste with eight hectares, The Saints Cosmas and Damian near Zociste with five hectares, as well as the Church Municipality of Prizren which was stripped of 300 hectares of land in its property at that time, the official said.

Attack on US Embassy Bears Zbigniew Brzezinski's Signature

In addition to reports about current investigation of Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs, which suggest that attack on US embassy in Belgrade in the shadows of the massive "Kosovo is Serbia" rally was a setup aimed at debasing and suppressing Serbian resistance to criminal Western actions against the state of Serbia, there are indications that an ultra-violent wing of American CIA could be behind the staged attack.
American political analyst and author Webster G. Tarpley, in the article "Brzezinski Seizing Control Over US Policy In Slow-Motion Coup" published on February 23, assessed that greasy fingerprints of one of the most notorious Russophobes, a fanatically aggressive warmonger Zbigniew Brzezinski, are all too visible in the latest events taking place in Serbia, including the recent torching of an office in the Belgrade US embassy:
“The attack on the US embassy in Belgrade, Serbia by gangs of drunken students is a classic Brzezinski operation. The tactic of having an incensed rent-a-mob of swarming adolescent patsies attack the US Embassy in order to gin up a crisis is one of Zbigniew's signature specialties.
“During the time that Brzezinski was running the foreign policy of Trilateral puppet Jimmy Carter, there were bloody attacks on the US embassies in Pakistan and in Afghanistan, both countries that featured prominently in Brzezinski's arc of crisis theory. Most famous of all was of course the attack on the US embassy in Teheran, Iran, which led to the taking of hostages and the huge international crisis which helped to doom the Carter administration to extinction at the polls.
“If US diplomats or State Department personnel are taken hostage anywhere in the world in the weeks and months to come, this must be attributed to Brzezinski,” Tarpley stressed.

Was Thursday Attack on US Embassy in Belgrade a Setup?

According to the Serbian media, investigators of the Serbian Interior Ministry have found hand-drawn maps pointing to the streets and buildings of the US and other embassies in Belgrade in the pockets of a group of vandals who were arrested in Thursday riots.
Serbia's Interior Ministry has confirmed their investigation is focused on the identity of a group of young men who were caught with rather unusual maps after instigating violent riots at the same time when half a million Serbs were gathered in the state capital to peacefully protest imposed dismemberment of Serbia, and as the procession of over 500,000 peaceful demonstrators streamed out of St. Sava Cathedral where they attended the prayer service. The investigators are currently trying to determine under whose authority and instructions were these men sent to create chaos in the streets of Belgrade, effectively taking the world's attention off Serbia's massive and dignified protest, and refocusing that same attention to the outburst of violence that occurred in the shadows of the big event.

Israel's stamp of approval for Germany's Left Party?

The Foreign Ministry has invited one of the leaders of a German political party that has been criticized for failing to fight anti-Semitism and hard-core anti-Israeli attitudes within its ranks.
Parliamentary Vice President Petra Pau, of the Left Party, will be speaking at a conference of the Global Forum for Combating Anti-Semitism in Jerusalem on Monday. She will participate in a discussion on "Government and Parliamentarian Actions in Combating Anti-Semitism."
Pau's party is the new political heavyweight in Germany, the third largest in the Parliament. It also demonstrates a "shocking hostility" toward Israel, said Dieter Graumann, the vice president of the Central Council of Jews in Germany.

Serbian Students Determined to Reach Kosovo Colleagues for Joint Protests

According to Serbian news agency Tanjug, hundreds of students from Belgrade, Nis and Kragujevac who left Friday morning for Kosovska Mitrovica to attend student protests there, are held at Jarinje, a crossing on the administrative line between central Serbia and Kosovo and Metohija province.
The dean of the University of Belgrade Branko Kovacevic told Tanjug that the international forces deployed in the province are refusing to allow the student buses to enter Kosovo, but that the students are determined to stay at Jarinje until they are let through.
At this moment, Serbian students are on both sides of the administrative line, since some 200 Belgrade students in two busses, who were allowed to continue towards Kosovska Mitrovica, were stopped are a nearby Kfor checkpoint and then returned towards the administrative crossing.
A group of some 60 students left the bus and walked 12 kilometers towards their Kosovo province colleagues in Kosovska Mitrovica where they were headed when they crossed the administrative line on foot. Mitrovica Serbs sent a bus which picked the students from central Serbia up 12 kilometers from Jarinje.
Serbian student protesters held at Jarinje administrative crossing, Friday, Feb. 22
UNMIK and KFOR said that, since this morning, they are allowing entry into the province from central Serbia only to the residents and their relatives, who are not expected to hold protests.
"We have opted for this move after last night's protests in Belgrade and buses carrying demonstrators are strictly prohibited entry, while those carrying citizens will be allowed," an Albanian spokesman for KPS in Pristina told the agency.
The students are headed to Kosovska Mitrovica to support their colleagues there, who hold daily peaceful protests at 12:44 CET, to underline that the latest U.S. and EU moves over Kosovo violate international law, and more specifically, UN Resolution 1244.

Sovereign, Sovereigner, Sovereignest, USA

The AFP reported the US Ambassador to the United Nations said Thursday he was "outraged" by the storming of the US embassy in Belgrade by rioters protesting American-led West's recognition of the illegally declared independence of southern Serbian province of Kosovo and Metohija by the Pristina separatists.
"I am outraged by the mob attack against the US embassy in Belgrade," Zalmay Khalilzad told reporters, adding he would seek condemnation by the UN Security Council.
"The embassy is sovereign US territory. The government of Serbia has a responsibility under international law to protect diplomatic facilities, particularly embassies."
Infuriated by the West's hypocrisy and double standards over the state of Serbia and its Kosovo province, several hundred of Serbian rioters stormed the US embassy in Belgrade before setting it on fire on Thursday, after a massive peaceful rally in the Serbian capital which, according to the BBC World reporter from Belgrade, Nick Hawton, has gathered more than 500,000 protesters.
But that's not all. Khalilzad said he would "ask the 15-member Security Council to issue a unanimous statement expressing its outrage, condemning the attack and also reminding the Serb government of its responsibility."
So, let me see if I get this straight: the US embassy in Belgrade is "a sovereign American territory" in Serbia, but 15% of Serbian state and a cradle of Serbia's culture, faith and statehood—Kosovo and Metohija province—was not sufficiently sovereign Serbian territory the moment the US decided to seize it from Serbia?

Join Our Protests Against Illegal Amputation of Kosovo

Many people of good will throughout the world wrote during the past few days to express their support for the Serbian people and Serbian state in this darkest hour of our history. Many offered help and asked for suggestions on what would be the best way to show that citizens of states where leadership has extended an unlawful recognition to the amputated Kosovo province, are opposed to this blatant thuggery and theft of Sebia's historical, sacred land.
The best way each of you can help us now is to stand alongside your Serbian brothers and sisters in the protests around the world.
Starting with Saturday, February 23, and Sunday, Feb. 24, large protests against imposed severing of Kosovo-Metohija province from the rest of Serbia are scheduled in Canada (Toronto and Vancouver), United States (Washington, Phoenix, Cleveland and Chicago), Great Britain (London), Austria (Vienna), Netherlands (Hague) and other major Western cities.
Come, let's stand shoulder to shoulder at this moment when the world is being sharply divided not between the nations and states, but between justice and injustice, between truth and lies, between the right and wrong. Stand up for what's right, before today's battle for Serbia turns into a battle for your own country, province and town. Join our protests against butchering of the sovereign states for the interests of the insatiable global elite and corrupt local mafia bosses and crime syndicates!
SerbBlog is following the demonstrations' schedule and will be updating information as it becomes available.
Thank you for all the heartfelt support, thank you for standing with us at this fateful moment, and for spreading awareness about the decisive battle ahead of us, for the freedom of us all and the future of our world.

Albanian Democrats Unmask Western Lies and Hypocrisy

The Kosovo Democratic Initiative, the party of Serbia's Albanians and other citizens, on Wednesday condemned the unilateral declaration of independence of Kosovo-Metohija province.
Albanian Democratic party, whose seat is in the Serbian city of Nis, invited the international community and especially the European Union "not to push Albanians into another confrontation with Serbia, because this is their state."
"We support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia and request the annulment of the unilateral act on independence of Kosovo-Metohija," the statement said.
The Kosovo Democratic Initiative stressed that "since the arrival of KFOR and UNMIK in Kosovo-Metohija, more than 1,600 Albanians were killed by their extreme compatriots just for being loyal citizens of Serbia and for not supporting the separatist movement after the signing of the Kumanovo agreement."
"More than 30,000 Albanians who lived in Kosovo-Metohija had to leave their homes and find refuge in Serbia proper, running away from their extreme compatriots and Albanian terrorism," the statement said.

Outcry Grows in Austria Over Massive Oil Deal With Iran Oil Firm May Face U.S. Sanctions

By Benjamin Weinthal
Berlin - A Nobel Prize-winning author and a Nazi-hunter were among the 3,000 signatories to a petition released last week, protesting a massive oil deal between an Austrian company and Iran.
The $32 billion deal for oil rights, inked by the Vienna-based OMV oil company, appears to be the biggest ever with Iran. Since the deal was signed last year, it has attracted a growing tide of protest. German Chancellor Angela Merkel privately complained in September that the deal set a dangerous precedent. There are also signs that the American government, which has imposed economic sanctions against companies that deal with Iran, may also be looking at the deal.

"There was not anti-Semitism in the past, but with the Saudi charities here now we are seeing a Wahhabi influence for the first time"... of the 50 remaining Jews in Kosovo
It bears repeating that all of the Wahhabists' material comes from the Qur'an, ahadith and Sira -- anti-Semitic material which may be ignored, but has not been repudiated on a large scale by Muslims and Islamic institutions.
"Kosovo Jews uncertain about future," by Dana Spritzer for the
Jewish Telegraphic Agency:
... There are some 50 Jews left in Kosovo. Belonging to three families, or clans, they all live in the city of Prizren, a rare gem of ancient architecture amid a landscape devastated by war, poverty and Communist-era concrete.
The United Nations took over the administration of Kosovo in 1999 after a brutal conflict between Kosovo Albanians seeking independence and Serbian troops controlled by strongman Slobodan Milosevic.
Ethnic Albanians account for 90 percent of Kosovo's population of 2.2 million. The Albanians are Muslim, but largely secular. [...]
Distressed by a war they watched from the sidelines and facing an uncertain future, the Jews of Prizren are gloomy. When the war started, the other Jews in Kosovo - the 50 living in the capital city of Pristina - fled to Serbia, where they spoke the language and felt a part of the culture. But those in Prizren, where Jews speak Albanian and Turkish - there is a large Turkish population there - stayed.
Now, with Kosovo having broken away from Serbia, those like Votim Demiri, Quono's father, who made a decent living under communism, find it hard to leave the homes they built, despite fears of growing tensions with their neighbors.
"There was not anti-Semitism in the past, but with the Saudi charities here now we are seeing a Wahabi influence for the first time," Demiri said, referring to the fundamentalist Islamic ideology Saudi Arabian clerics have tried to export, with little success, in the Balkans. "I think the newspapers these days are not portraying Jews in such a positive light."
"Little success" is debatable. Not that it wouldn't be great to see the Saudis' efforts fail miserably, but the extent to which they're failing or not relevant to Kosovo Muslims' hostilities toward Jews only underscores the fact that there is more to Islamic anti-Semitism than the current wave of Saudi influence.

Palestinian aide suggests Kosovo a model

They didn't waste any time in starting to exploit the situation in Kosovo, and the precedent that Western recognition of its independence has set. Some interesting questions remain, however: Would they unilaterally declare the "West Bank" an independent state? Then, what about Hamas-controlled Gaza? And, of course, an independent state has borders. Where would they draw those, and would they commit to them permanently, even on paper?
By Mohammed Daraghmeh for the
Associated Press:
RAMALLAH, West Bank - The Palestinians should follow Kosovo's example and unilaterally declare independence if peace talks with Israel fail, a senior Palestinian official said Wednesday, but the Palestinian president said the proposal was premature and pledged to keep negotiating until the end of the year.
The mixed Palestinian messages came a day after the latest meeting between Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.
The two men formally relaunched peace talks at a U.S.-hosted summit in Annapolis, Md., last November. While the sides meet regularly, Palestinian officials have complained the talks are proceeding slowly and that President Bush's goal of brokering a peace treaty in 2008 is not realistic.
Yasser Abed Rabbo, a Palestinian negotiator and top aide to Abbas, said in an interview Wednesday that the peace efforts "are going nowhere."
He said the Palestinians' "first option" is success in the negotiations. "If this doesn't happen, we have another option," he said, noting Kosovo's declaration of independence from Serbia earlier this week.
"Kosovo is not better than Palestine," he added. "If the whole world, the United States, the European Union, the majority of its states, have embraced the independence of Kosovo, why shouldn't this happen with Palestine as well?"
Abed Rabbo said the Palestinian leadership is discussing the proposal. However, Abbas reacted coolly to the idea, saying in a statement that he remained committed to reaching a negotiated peace agreement this year.
"If we are unable to do that ... we will return to our Arab (brothers) to take the appropriate decision," he said.
The chief Palestinian negotiator, Ahmed Qureia, quickly quashed the idea of a unilateral decision and said such a proposal was never discussed by the Palestinian leadership.
"Decisions should be taken and then declared, and not be declared and then be taken," Qureia told The Associated Press, in apparent criticism of Abed Rabbo.
Qureia said the negotiations with Israel are serious and are touching on all major issues, but concurred with Abed Rabbo that no progress has been made so far.
Normally talkative Israeli and Palestinian officials have released few details on the status of their talks. Palestinian officials say the White House has urged the sides to maintain secrecy, fearing leaks could hurt progress.
Olmert also is wary of publicizing progress because a key coalition partner has threatened to pull out of the government if he makes any concessions on the issue of Jerusalem. If the ultra-Orthodox Shas party follows through on its threat, Olmert would lose his parliamentary majority.
The Palestinians have already declared independence before, in 1988, but the international community did not recognize the declaration. At that time, there was no territory under Palestinian control.

Without Law, There is Just One “Unique Case” After Another

Couple of days ago in her superb commentary titled "Independence in the Brave New World Order: NATO's Kosovo Colony", Diana Johnstone dismantled utterly ridiculous claims by the Western powers about the alleged uniqueness of southern Serbian province of Kosovo and Metohija in two brief paragraphs:
“Russia has warned that Kosovo independence will set a dangerous precedent, encouraging other ethnic minorities to follow the example of the Albanians and demand secession and an independent State. The United States has dismissed such concerns by flatly asserting that Kosovo is "unique". Well yes, Kosovo is a unique case, and is the only one recognized by the United States until the next "unique case" comes along. When legal criteria have been thrown out, we just have one "unique case" after another.
“The "uniqueness" claimed by the United States is a propaganda construction. It is based on the supposed "uniqueness" of Milosevic's repression of the armed secessionist movement, which was not unique at all. It was standard operating procedure throughout history and the world over, in such circumstances. Deplorable, no doubt, but not unique. It was minor indeed compared to the similar but endless and far bloodier anti-insurgency operations in Colombia, Sri Lanka, and Chechnya, not to mention Northern Ireland, Thailand, the Philippines. And unlike the counter-insurgency operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, which kill incomparably more civilians, it was carried out by the legal, democratically elected government of the country, rather than by a foreign power.”

Austria: Iran's gateway to Europe

When Hitler entered Austria in March 1938, he was welcomed by an extraordinarily large number of Austrians who advocated the "Anschluss" with Germany. A disproportionate number of Austrians served the Nazi death machinery to carry out the "Final Solution" to the "Jewish Question." Despite these facts, for more than 50 years Austria portrayed itself as the first victim of national-socialism. It took a new generation of historians and politicians to acknowledge - 30 years after the Eichmann trial - that Austrians were actually involved in mass murder.
During the last decade Austria has worked to present itself as a country which has dealt with its past and drawn the appropriate historical lessons. But one has to ask: Which lessons have been learned? Certainly not the most crucial one: defending Israel's right to exist.

Albanian Separatists and UNMIK Pressure Serbs to Leave Kosovo Province

Serbian National Council of Kosovo and Metohija (SNV) warned on Tuesday about the increasing pressure of Albanian separatists on Serbs, urged UNMIK and KFOR to protect the Serb and other non-Albanian population, and called on the authorities in Belgrade to undertake at once the measures that were required for the protection of the sovereignty and integrity on the whole of its territory.
The anonymous bomb hoax in the Miladin Mitric (Serbian) primary school in the village of Laplje Selo, the beating up of a Serb woman in the village of Livoc near Gnjilane, as well as the pressure of the ethnic Albanian institutions that border crossings be placed at the administrative line are aimed at destabilizing the Serb community and forcing the Serbs to leave their homes, which will cause a destabilization of the region as a whole, the SNV assessed in a statement.

Mlada Bosna Chooses Another Way to Fight Occupiers

A group calling itself Mlada Bosna [Young Bosnia] took responsibility for the bombs in front of the Mercator store in Belgrade and for planting another explosive device at the European mission headquarters in Kosovska Mitrovica.
In a statement sent to the media by e-mail today, Mlada Bosna stated that it is made up of young Serbian people "from the entire world" and that it chose its name in order to show “the similarity with the series of events when the First World War was started with the annexing of Bosnia-Herzegovina by Austria."
Yesterday evening a bomb exploded near OSCE offices in Kosovska Mitrovica, Kosovo and Metohija, Serbia
The statement adds “Let us not allow a Third World War to occur!”
“The irresponsible moves of the so-called Kosovo assembly and the Western powers threaten to destabilize and permanently endanger the security of the Balkan region and the entire world. Let us not forget that the bloody wars of the Balkans at the end of the last century were started with the recognition of Slovenia and Croatia by Germany. The last events show that there is a real possibility that a final conflict of civilizations is possible,” the statement adds.
Mlada Bosna sees as the only solution, the “partition of the northern part of Kosovo and its integration into the Republic of Serbia,” followed by “the proclamation of independence by the Republic of Srpska and its linking to Serbia,” along with the “extraterritoriality of all cultural-historic monuments in Kosovo with its territory taken away after the Second World War.”
“Until this happens, we will demand the following from the Serbian administration and people: a nationalization of property of all countries that recognize independent Kosovo, dismissing laws regarding intellectual property towards the above mentioned countries, and a boycott of products and trade systems of these countries,” according to the statement.
“Until our demands are adopted, we will continue with our peaceful and decisive activities which will not produce human casualties, but will cause material damage towards countries that recognize independent Kosovo,” Mlada Bosna stated.

Serbia Recalls Its Ambassadors from the Fascist States

Serbian government has been recalling all its ambassadors from the countries which have recognized the illegal, unilaterally declared independence of Pristina Albanian separatists.
The first country to recognize Albanian Muslims' unilateral declaration, quite fittingly, was Afghanistan, followed by the United States of America, Turkey, Albania, and then the modern-day fascistic dictatorships, Western European states: Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Austria...
"We support the decision made by the people and we recognize Kosovo's independence," Hamid Karzai's Foreign Ministry spokesman said in Kabul.

NATO's Kosovo Colony

Independence in the Brave New World Order
By Diana Johnstone,
Across this last weekend, the Western propaganda machine was working overtime, celebrating the latest NATO miracle: the transformation of Serbian Kosovo into Albanian Kosova. A shameless land grab by the United States, which used the Kosovo problem to install an enormous military base (Camp Bondsteel) on other people's strategically located land, is transformed by the power of the media into an edifying legend of "national liberation".
For the unhappy few who know the complicated truth about Kosovo, the words of Aldous Huxley seem most appropriate: "You shall know the truth, and the truth shall drive you mad."
Concerning Kosovo, truth is like letters written in the sand as the tsunami of propaganda comes thundering in. The truth is available--for instance in George Szamuely's thoroughly informative piece last Friday here on CounterPunch. Fragments of the truth sometimes even show up in the mainstream media, mostly in letters from readers. But hopeless as it is to try to turn back the tide of officially endorsed legend, let me examine just one drop in this unstoppable sea of propaganda: a column by Roger Cohen entitled "Europe's new state", published in the Valentine's Day edition of the International Herald Tribune.
Cohen's op ed piece is fairly typical in the dismissive way it deals with Milosevic, Russia and the Serbs. Cohen writes: "Slobodan Milosevic, the late dictator, set Serbia's murderous nationalist tide in motion on April 24, 1987, when he went to Kosovo to declare that Serbian 'ancestors would be defiled' if ethnic Albanians had their way."
I don't know where Roger Cohen got that quotation, but it is not to be found in the speech Milosevic made that day in Kosovo. And certainly, Milosevic did not go to Kosovo to declare any such thing, but to consult with local Communist League officials in the town of Kosovo Polje about the province's serious economic and social problems. Aside from the province's chronic poverty, unemployment, and mismanagement of development funds contributed from the rest of Yugoslavia, the main social problem was the constant exodus of Serb and Montenegrin inhabitants under pressure from ethnic Albanians. At the time, this problem was reported in leading Western media [....]

Serbia Calls an Urgent UN Security Council Session

Serbia on Tuesday called for an urgent session of the UN Security Council to discuss the situation regarding Western intention to dismember Serbia, by forcibly severing its southern province of Kosovo and Metohija.
In a letter to the president of the 15-member council, Serbia's Ambassador to the United Nations Pavle Jevremovic urged it to consider the grave situation in the Serbian Kosovo province where an illegal unilateral declaration of independence by Kosovo Albanian separatists was announced to follow soon.
According to the reports, Jevremovic said he was instructed by his government to request the council to "consider an extremely grave situation in the Serbian province of Kosovo and Metohija where we witness the final preparatory activities for a unilateral declaration of the independence ..."
“Such a move would constitute a violation of UN Security Council resolution 1244 and the territorial integrity of Serbia and endanger the maintenance of international peace and security,” Serbia's UN ambassador said.
Reuters quoted Russian Ambassador to the United Nations Vitaly Churkin as confirming that Russian Federation will back Serbia's initiative. At the same time, Reuters reported that "British and U.S. envoys said they knew nothing about the request".

Cyprus Not the Only EU Member Determined Never to Recognize Seized Kosovo

Unheard of since Hitler: Fuhrer graciously accepts ovations of the Nazi Reichstag in Berlin after announcing "peaceful acquisition" of Austria

Cyprus is not alone in the EU regarding its determination not to recognize unilateral proclamation of independence of the southern Serbian province of Kosovo, Cypriot Foreign Minister Erato Kozakou-Marcoullis said on Monday.
“Cyprus has repeatedly stated that it will never recognize a unilateral proclamation of the independence of Serbia's southern Kosovo and Metohija province that is secured outside the frameworks of the United Nations, primarily if this is done bypassing the UN Security Council,” the Cypriot foreign minister said.
“This stand has been accepted by the partners of Cyprus and the European Union (EU). Cyprus is not alone and there are other countries that will not recognize a unilaterally proclaimed independence,” Kozakou-Marcoullis said.
Similar reportwas today also carried by the Chinese news agency, Xinhua

European Policy Analysts: EU Unjust, Obsessed with Kosovo Independence

The efforts of the European Union to enforce Kosovo province's secession from Serbia are unjust and prove that the EU is obsessed with the independence of the Serbian province, participants of a conference on “just secession", in the organization of the Center for European Policy Studies (CEPS), assessed in Brussels on Monday.
“We have become completely obsessed with Kosovo independence,” Deputy Director External Affairs and Director Conflict Management at HCSS Christa Meindersma warned.
“Way back in the late 90s, we created such a situation in which independence was seen as the only possible solution, and now we are trying to justify such a stand,” she explained.

KLA is CIA Army

American intelligence agency CIA was involved in all activities of Kosovo Albanian separatists in their insurgency war against Serbia, both prior and during the NATO bombardment of FR Yugoslavia in 1999, and late Ibrahim Rugova was CIA's political choice, the head of analytics department of the former National Security agency of Serbia (Drzavna bezbednost, DB), Zoran Stijovic wrote in his recently published book "Kosovo-Metohija — My Testimony".
“Few years before NATO bombardment, CIA took control over the terrorist KLA/UCK,” Stijovic wrote, adding that “this was procured through hefty payments and housing of the KLA members in 1998 in Pristina, in a beautiful mansion of a Serbian businessman who, towards the end of the war, was given a green card to be able to open his business in the USA.”
According to Stijovic, State Department knew fully well what CIA and KLA were doing in Serbian Kosovo province. The author cites parts of the reports of American diplomatic mission which informed Washington in December 1998 that “KLA/UCK is terrorizing or abducting every Albanian who comes to the police station, threatening to kill them and burn their houses to the ground, unless they join them.”
Current Kosovo-Metohija provisional premier Hashim Thaci was used to further radicalize the situation, and to enable placing of the Serbian province under NATO administration, where U.S. has the decisive role, Stijovic revealed.

Under the Cover of Darkness, EU Thieves Arrive

President of the Community of Serb Municipalities of Kosovo and Metohija Marko Jaksic said on Sunday that parts of the illegal European Union mission have already started arriving in this southern Serbian province.
Speaking for Belgrade-based TV, Jaksic said that, according to information at his disposal, parts of the EU mission arrived in Pristina already, which he said presents the clear intention of the EU to seize a part of territory from Serbia.
"In silence and without a major presence of the public, parts of the EU mission in the area of the police and the judiciary have already begun arriving in Pristina on Thursday and Friday, without waiting for a decision of the Council of Ministers," Jaksic said.
"It is now clear that the offered political agreement with Serbia had been much more necessary for the EU, because it would have served as its logistics support for the arrival of the EU mission in Kosovo province," Jaksic said.

Serbian Signature Out of the Question

Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica stated today that Kosovo-Metohija is priceless to Serbia, which is why it will not give its consent, in the form of some agreement with the EU, to the southern province’s independence.
"With its decision to send a mission for the implementation of the unilateral independence of Kosovo, the European Union has falsified (United Nations Security Council) Resolution 1244 which explicitly guarantees respect of the territorial integrity of Serbia," Prime Minister Kostunica said in a statement for the Tanjug news agency.
The prime minister said the EU is in that way most grossly violating the UN Charter and is retailoring the internationally recognized borders of Serbia by sending a mission.
"Certainly it would most suit the European Union if Serbia, in the form of some signed pact, would give its approval for this biggest legal violence that is being executed against a country since the establishment of the UN, the body that guarantees all states the inviolability of their borders," Kostunica said.
"Serbia will not give such a signature for the independence of Kosovo," Serbian Premier stressed.

The Audacity of Sadness

Bosnian Muslims, like all others, are delighted at Obama, pointing that he is not just Barack Obama but actually Barack Hussein Obama.
Barack Hussein Obama has already promised that, if elected, he’ll let the Gitmo Jihadists free then hold a joint US-Islamic Summit that will earn him, in the Islamic world, another title to his growing name - Barack Hussein bin-Obama.
….and if he clamps down on Christians in America as many expect, bin-Osama, oops… I mean bin-Obama, may earn that honorary suffix every pious Jihadist carries - Barack Hussein bin-Obama al-Ameriki.
But wait! There is more!
If our future president Barack Hussein bin-Obama al-Ameriki gets few Americans beheaded, he’ll get that ultimate Jihadist term of endearment - Abu-Barak.
Ahhhhhhhh! The Audacity of Hope that awaits us.

Bosnian Imam Accuses Jews of Genocide

Nezim Halilovic Muderris, Chief Imam of the Bosnian King Fahd Mosque in Sarajevo says that Jews are genociders and is calling on Bosnian Muslims not to buy Jewish products.
“Brothers and sisters in Islam, today… in a day in which as in all other days in the last 59 years a monstrous genocide is committed against Palestinians by the Jews,” says Muderris in his Hutba or wisdom for the faithful.
“While Muslims in Palestine are dying, Muslims buy and smoke expensive Jewish cigarettes, drink Jewish coffee and consume Jewish food, and in each Jewish product there is a percent that finances killing of Palestinians,” says Muderris.

Signature on EU Pact would be a Signature for Independence

Minister for Kosovo and Metohija Slobodan Samardzic has informed European commissioner Javier Solana's advisor Stephan Lehne, who unexpectedly came to Belgrade on February 8, that signing of any agreement with the EU ahead of expected unilateral declaration of secession by Pristina separatists would represent Serbia's acceptance of independence of its southern province.
"Serbian government has been receiving a growing number of relevant information that [war criminal] Hasim Taci will illegally proclaim unilateral independence of Kosovo-Metohija province on Sunday, February 17," the government office for cooperation with media quoted Samardzic as saying to Lehne during their Thursday meeting.

Another Steaming Pile of Humiliation Served in Serbia

On the very same day the Yellows were scheduled to betray the country they are supposed to serve by signing a pact with the EU which would signify tacit consent to the loss of 15% of Serbian historic territory—province of Kosovo and Metohija—another steaming pile of humiliation was on the Serbia's menu in the evening: an art gallery in Belgrade was to ceremoniously open an exhibition featuring works by 11 Kosovo Albanian "artists", with the most prominent spot reserved for a photo titled "Face to Face" of a notorious Albanian UCK butcher Adem Jashari in KLA uniform and armed to his teeth.

Swiss Expert: Absolutely No Legal Basis for the EU Mission in Serbian Province

Director of the Swiss Institute of Federalism Thomas Fleiner says that the valid UN resolution on Serbian province of Kosovo and Metohija gives no legal basis to EU's mission plans.
Fleiner, who is a Swiss constitutional law professor and federalism expert, as well as the President of the International Association of Constitutional Law, dismissed in a statement to Tanjug the argument of some European diplomats that the legal basis for sending a EU mission to Kosovo could be found in article 10 of UN Security Council Resolution 1244.
"Article 10 authorizes the UN secretary-general to establish, along with relevant international organizations, an international civilian presence in Kosovo so as to secure a transitional administration, with which the people of Kosovo could enjoy essential autonomy within the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia," he explained.
Fleiner added that Article 10 calls for essential autonomy of the Serbian province of Kosovo within Yugoslavia—now its legal successor Serbia—and that Serbian Kosovo province, if it declares independence, "will by so doing reject Resolution 1244 because it does not want essential autonomy."

UN Secretary General Cannot Violate the UN Charter

“Russia is convinced that United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon will not give the green light for the deployment of the EU mission to Kosovo-Metohija province, because that way the UN itself would violate the Security Council Resolution 1244,” Russian Ambassador to the European Union Vladimir Chizhov said in Brussels on Wednesday.
Asked by the Serbian news agency Tanjug about the possible role of the Ban Ki-moon in "coordinating the unilateral independence" of southern Serbian province with the EU, Chizhov responded that Russia does not expect Secretary General to get involved in something like that.
“He will not do anything that would legitimize the actions in violation of the Resolution 1244 and I'm certain he is fully aware of the complexity of the situation,” Russian Ambassador said.
“The EU police and judiciary mission is definitively impossible,” Chizhov stressed.

Stop fueling Iran

Austrian Foreign Minister Ursula Plassnik was here this week on her third visit in her current post. The visit was no doubt a friendly one. As our Foreign Ministry gushed, it was "a symbol of the improvement in relations between the two countries in recent years."
Yet there is a major fly in the ointment. Austria, according to diplomats, is among the "weakest links" in the international campaign to sanction Teheran. The major item on Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni's agenda with Plassnik was a €22 billion deal between Austria's state-owned gas company OMV and Iran that was signed last April.

No Agreement with the EU will be Signed

Commenting the demand of freshly reelected Boris Tadic to schedule the government session "without delay" (where Yellow ministers, with the help of their G17 Plus supporters and Raska Muslims intended to outvote Kostunica's and Ilic's ministers and bully the "government approval" for signing the deal offered by the EU), Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica today announced that there will be no government session until the parliament reaches necessary decisions in the name of Serbian state, regarding both the EU offer and its intention to send an illegal mission to Serbia's territory without the UN Security Council approval.
Prime Minister Kostunica said that the European Union has directly jeopardized Serbia's sovereignty and territorial integrity with its decision to illegally send a mission to Kosovo-Metohija province, with the aim of implementing Ahtisaari plan of supervised independence in the province.

Urgent Parliament Session to Reach Necessary Decisions

Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica on Tuesday requested an urgent session of the Serbian parliament in order to reach the necessary decisions about the highly suspicious "agreement" offered by the EU and its announced mission to southern Serbian province, contrary to the UN Security Council Resolution 1244 and against Serbia's will.
In a written statement, Serbian Premier said the EU's decision to illegally send a mission to Kosovo-Metohija in order to enforce Ahtisaari's plan for an independent Kosovo that had been previously rejected is a clear indication that Albanian separatists will proclaim unilateral independence of the province very soon.

Severing of Kosovo Province Enters the Final Stage with Boris Gump Reelected

Together with ecstatic long-winded congratulatory messages from the U.S. State Department, Javier Solana and the EU-presiding Slovenia to Boris Tadic and the "Serbian people", after the Yellow leader barely squeezed through to get reelected as Serbian president, Serbia has received another, much more sincere, sobering message the very next day: that the illegal and unlawful EU mission to southern Serbian province of Kosovo-Metohija has been approved by the EU.
One doesn't really need to read between the lines to realize Western leaders have breathed a huge sigh of relief certainly not because they were concerned for Serbia's wellbeing, but simply because they understand Tadic's edge-of-a-knife victory as a green light to proceed with the final stage of their plan of amputating Kosovo province from the rest of Serbia.
According to Tanjug, which cites its sources within the EU in Brussels, the European Union adopted on Monday, in an urgent procedure, a document dubbed "Joint Action" on the "legal and financial bases" for sending a EU mission to Kosovo and Metohija. Since the procedure was so urgent, one has to wonder if the EU heads were only waiting for their own candidate for Serbian presidency to declare victory, eager to push the Ahtisaari-planned EU mission's approval through on the very same day.
Serbian news agency reports that only "a single formal step remains" until the EU mission is sent to Kosovo — a decision by the Council of Ministers on the adoption of the "Operative Plan" which gives the go-ahead for sending the mission. The mission would be dispatched only a day after the "Operative Plan" is adopted.

The EU Stable

The USA, New Europe and KosovoCaligula's Horse
By Andrej Grubacic and Ziga Vodovnik, Counter Punch
Ancient historian Suetonius, in his The Lives of Twelve Caesars, writes about the attempt of the infamous Roman Emperor Caligula to make his favorite horse, Incitatus, ("Speedy") a consul. American Empire had advanced this animal friendly project by appointing not one horse but a whole stable. The name of this stable is New Europe. As in the case of the Third Emperor of the Roman Empire, the reason for lavishing horses with consular honor has more to do with imperial arrogance then insanity. Just like Caligula's treatment of Incitatus was a way of angering the Senate, New Europe is a way of ridiculing the European Union. This essay is devoted to one particular horse in the stable of New Europe, the horse of the state of Slovenia, and to the recent "Slovenian diplomatic scandal" which, as we contend, is not so much a scandal as it is a model. This essay has a twofold purpose. First, we intend to alert the international left to the nature of American and European colonial politics in the light of the construction of, and manipulation with, the political project of New Europe. Second, we wish to invite the Balkan left to define a politics of balkanization, a politics that would challenge both the imperialist and nationalist scenario for the Balkans.

German Muslims Protest Against Self-Defense

After a Moroccan thug was stabbed to death in self-defense by a German man he was trying to rob, Muslims in Cologne took to the streets in protest. Apparently, they believe it’s their right to mug Germans, and the Germans should just accept it.
And Spiegel Online seems to agree, in an article dripping with sympathy for the demonstrators:
’We’re Sitting on a Powder Keg’: Immigrants Protest Death of Moroccan Teenager in Cologne.
Following the violent death of a Moroccan teenager in Cologne, hundreds of immigrants have taken to the streets in nightly demonstrations to protest what they see as evidence of their second-class status in Germany. Police warn the city could be ready to explode.
The owner of an electronics shop on Cologne’s Kalker Hauptstrasse had rolled down the shutters on the windows in case there was unrest. Now they have photos of a 17-year-old Moroccan boy taped to them. The teenager, whose name was Salih, was killed in front of the shop two weeks ago.
The sidewalk is a sea of candles as hundreds of people chant: “Salih! Salih! We want justice!” They feel that Salih was one of them — a youth from an immigrant family.
For the police, the case is clear cut. According to their version of events, Salih allegedly wanted to mug a 20-year-old German man, who tried to defend himself. But he panicked and pulled out a pocketknife that he plunged into Salih’s heart with an unlucky stab. [“Unlucky?” Would it have been “lucky” if he missed, and was beaten to death? – ed.] Prosecutors said it was a clear case of self-defense, and there are witnesses. But none of that matters any longer.
Every night last week, up to 300 protestors gathered at the spot where Salih died to demand “justice” instead of letting his killer walk free. They are protesting against “racism in Germany” — but since it appears clear that this case involves self-defense, it’s obviously about more than just the unfortunate Salih. It’s more about how immigrants and their children feel they are currently being treated in Germany.

Faced with the scariest challenges only few states were confronted with in their entire history, of forced dismemberment, loss of 15% of territory to foreign-funded terrorists and mafia clans supported by the American State Department, UK and EU leadership and the governments of the richest western states such as Germany, France, Holland and Italy, impoverished, bombarded, humiliated beyond words for the past two decades and accused by the Western powers for just about everything under the sun, citizens of Serbia will cast their votes tomorrow, in the final round of presidential elections.

Jihad and Jew-Hatred

By Benjamin Weinthal
Islamism, Nazism and the Roots of 9/11, by Matthias Kuentzel (translated from German by Colin Meade) Telos Press Publishing, 180 pages, $30
In 1993, a mere four years after the collapse of the Berlin Wall, while gnawing away at the voluminous stockpile of documents left behind by the German Democratic Republic (GDR), the American historian Jeffrey Herf uncovered an especially cruel case of anti-Israelism and anti-Semitism in the nascent phase of the now-defunct East German state: The persecution of Paul Merker, a member of the Communist party's Central Committee, who was incarcerated in 1952 for his passionate defense of Israel and his advocacy of financial compensation for Jews whose property had been "aryanized" by the Nazis. "I am neither a Jew nor a Zionist, though certainly, it would be no crime to be either," declared Merker in 1956, after his release. The East German Jewish writer Stefan Heym, devoted a section of his 1979 novel "Collin" to Merker's case; the GDR, however, banned his book.

Boris Gump's Dirty Tricks: Empty Promises and Exploitation of his People's Fears

“[...] Nikolic looked tired during a TV debate with Tadic on January 30 (he literally came to the TV station from the airport after his Moscow tour), and Tadic appeared nervous. He said that Serbia's joining the EU is necessary to improve the population's living conditions, and that the country's progress towards the EU depends on the Serbs' ability to act as Europeans do.
“He also kept telling that Serbia can face isolation and sanctions in case Nikolic is elected. Tadic charged the Radicals with attempting to bring Seselj to power in Serbia (Nikolic replied that it was mean to attack the man who has been in jail for 5 years waiting to stand trial while it could not begin due to the total lack of evidence against him).
“Then Tadic reiterated his ritual promises that life in Serbia is going to be great in case he gets re-elected. He never explained why this had not happen during his past presidential term.
“Obviously, Tadic's deeply immoral strategy is to exploit the fears of the population, which has suffered sanctions and bombings, that the same might happen again. He is unable to suggest an adequate response to the challenges Serbia is facing.”
