Shock for a 22-year-old Austrian woman in the town of Amstetten on Monday at 9 o'clock in the morning in the area of the so-called Gschirmbach underpass (note: underpass under the railway in the urban area of Amstetten) An initially unknown offender grabbed the 22-year-old from behind, held her mouth shut, with the other hand he grabbed her under her skirt, tried to tear off her pantyhose. In fear of death, the victim fought back with his hands and feet, was able to break free and walked towards the city centre. In the course of a manhunt, the suspect Abdul W. (20 y/o) was apprehended after about 90 minutes. The man was arrested by the police. According to St. Pöltner public prosecutor Leopold Bien, the application for admission to custody was ordered. The young woman was not injured in the attempted rape, but suffered a severe shock according to the executive. According to state councillor Gottfried Waldhäusl (Freedom Party), the suspected Afghan had only received a negative asylum decision and is now being removed from social welfare.
