A recent 'honour killing' in Germany: Turk murders 19-year-old woman in the town of Neustadt

The life of a young woman has found a brutal end in the town of Neustadt an der Weinstraße. Police officers found her dead in the hallway of a house the night of Tuesday. Shortly after 11 p.m., the police were informed about a dispute in the apartment building. When the officers arrived, the 19-year-old was already dead. Next to her sat a 42-year-old resident who was injured. According to initial investigations, he wanted to help the woman, but was injured by the alleged attacker. The 22-year-old ex-boyfriend of the young woman is suspected of murder, police and public prosecutor's office announced on Tuesday. The man fled at first, but shortly afterwards was arrested by the police. A helicopter was also in use. Hubert Ströber of the Frankenthal public prosecutor's office did not initially want to comment on reports that the man stabbed with a knife. A medical examination is planned in the near future, said the Chief Public Prosecutor. According to initial investigations, the 19-year-old woman and her ex-partner had been arguing. The 22-year-old man - a Turk born in Germany - is said to have killed the woman.
