Germany: African man attacks train conductor and tries to enter the train driver's cabin

On Monday morning, a 21-year-old attacked a train conductor of the NordWestBahn (NWB) near Bersenbrück. The incident occurred around 8:25 a.m. after the 21-year-old had taken the train from Oldenburg to Osnabrück. This follows a dispute over a ticket irregularity. The 21-year-old had not been able to provide the necessary authorizations for a special ticket that had been used. However, according to the tariff regulations, this is absolutely necessary. Therefore, the young man did not agree to an increased fare for the train journey. As the train progressed, the passenger became violent and followed the train attendant into the driver's cabin. The very aggressive-looking man tried to get back the special ticket taken in by the train attendant several times with physical effort (e.g. pressure). The NWB employee was unable to close the driver's cabin. Only with the courageous engine driver could the 21-year-old be brought to his senses. According to the current state of knowledge, the 47-year-old train conductor was not injured, but had to stop her duties. The Ivorian citizen has been the subject of a criminal investigation into possible assault and coercion. Witnesses are requested to call the Federal Police in Oldenburg on 0441 - 21838 0 or Osnabrück on 0541 - 33128 0.
