Germany: African man chokes train attendant

On Tuesday afternoon, a traveller attacked the train attendant at Löwenberg station. Witnesses detained the suspect until the police arrived. At about 3:30 p.m., a Chadian citizen attacked the train attendant during the intended ticket inspection on the regional train of line 5 in the direction of Rostock. The 23-year-old grabbed the injured man by the tie and choked him to brief unconsciousness. Fellow travelers, including two federal police officers on their way home, prevented worse. The federal police arrested the attacker and handed him over to the alarmed police forces. The injured man was taken to a hospital, which the 55-year-old German was able to leave on the same day after outpatient treatment. The federal police initiated preliminary proceedings against the 23-year-old suspect for dangerous bodily injury and informed the responsible immigration authority of the facts of the case. After the police measures have been completed, the officers released the man.
