Essen, Germany: An Iranian, despite misleading the police, is back on the loose -- he prevented the arrest of his criminal brother by impersonating him

Yesterday morning, the 9th of October at 7:55 a.m., two officers of the Police Inspectorate North in Essen executed an arrest warrant against a 41-year-old Iranian. The arrest warrant had the purpose of arrest and confinement in a prison. In an apartment in the Altenessen-Süd district, the officers met two brothers. One of them pretended to be the wanted man and was taken away. He was unable to present any official identification on the spot. The 41-year-old was arrested and taken to the Gelsenkirchen prison. There he declared that he was not the wanted person after all. Then he was taken to the North Police Station, where his real identity was established. At noon of the same day, the 41-year-old was released again. "Police Essen is consistently following up on the facts", said Police Commissioner Frank Richter.
