Germany: An African arrested for sexual assault

After more than a year, the Tübingen Criminal Investigation Department has succeeded in arresting a 28-year-old man who is suspected of having attempted to sexually assault a woman using violence in February last year. The suspect, who was born in Guinea, is now in custody. As already reported, the man allegedly harassed a 23-year-old woman in the area of Stauffenberg street in the early morning hours of the 10th of February 2018. The man is said to have approached the young woman and wanted sexual intercourse. When she refused, the suspect allegedly detained the woman and forcibly pressed her against a wall.It wasn't until she started screaming that he let her go and ran away. On the trace of the suspect the investigators led the evaluation of a DNA trace secured after the crime.Since the man had meanwhile been arrested, the DNA trace resulted in a match. At the request of the public prosecutor's office in Tübingen, the 28-year-old man, who was known to the police, was brought before the responsible magistrate on Monday, who detained the accused on remand. He was then sent to a prison.
