Austria: Cardiologist attacked in hospital with a knife by African asylum seeker
Completely unexpectedly, a cardiologist (64 years old) was attacked with a knife on Wednesday by a patient at the Kaiser Franz Josef Hospital in Vienna. The medical doctor is "doing well according to the circumstances", it was said in a press conference after the crime. The investigations and interviews continue, but the suspect had been in the waiting room for some time and attacked the doctor with a knife - a stab to the stomach.The police cannot yet provide any information on the motive, they are currently assuming a personal motive. The suspect is a 33-year-old man from Sierra Leone. He is said to have been in treatment for heart disease since 2011.According to the police, the man has a legal asylum status and has been living in Vienna for a long time. He was not known to the police for violence, had only two warnings due to drug offences.
