Boris Johnson shows the steel and U.K.'s Tories soar in the polls

By Monica Showalter

Not too long ago, Britain's Tories were in the loo, poll-wise.

In a July 21 story headlined, "As Brexit looms, the U.K. Tories fight for survival," NBC News reported:

After almost 10 years in power and 185 years in existence, its voters and members are leaving in droves to support the upstart Brexit Party. A fractious leadership battle has been defined by who can talk the toughest on Europe — a union Britain has been part of for half a century.

And don't think this wasn't the conventional wisdom on all sides - as these storieshere and here signal. As wildly opposed as those organs' political lines are, the stories they all put out could have been written by the same person. The Economist put it, quite Britishily, this way, last June 13: "The question is not who will lead the Conservative Party, but whether it will survive."

Welp. Not anymore. Here's The Sun scarfing up the real story:
BORIS Johnson's gamble to shutdown Parliament has paid off as the Tory's lead over Labour has almost doubled in just three weeks, latest polls have revealed.
The boost comes after the Prime Minister announced his decision to prorogue Parliament for nearly five weeks next month in order to deliver Brexit.
The shock move was approved by the Queen, leaving just days for a possible vote of no confidence in Boris, or for rebel MPs to pass a law to push back the Brexit date.
And latest polls has seen the Tory's lead over Labour almost double in three weeks since the decision.
Suck it up, doomsayers. Rule, Britannia! What's fair to say here is that something has changed, and that change is the one change that really matters, that of the new personality influencing events.

Britain has a new leader, Boris Johnson, its last-ditch gamble on the man with the slightly wild and unexpected personality who seems to have understood the stakes and recognized the kind of power that was needed to correct it. He's acted ruthlessly on Britain's far-left oppostionists and obstructionists and the British voters are throwing their support to him in droves. Turns out that's exactly what Britain -- and its old Tory party -- really needed.

According to the Sun:

More than half said they were happy with the PM's decision to prorogue Parliament for nearly five weeks next month - and four in ten were "extremely happy".
A poll of Sun readers described the decision as brave, decisive, excellent and fantastic. Others said they were ecstatic and delighted to hear the news.
Nearly three quarters of the 630 respondents said they thought it was more likely now that Boris would finally be able to get us out of the EU by October 31.

What it shows us here is that Johnson is a power player - and a risk taker, and a man with a general-like use of strategy. Johnson's stellar beginning came of his step to first neutralize the leftist clown show at home, taking quite a risk to get the Queen to shut down parliament, and now he's amassing the national unity needed to slay the dragons Britain faces abroad as it tries to extricate itself from the European Union morass. This is one hell of a good beginning.

Conrad Black, who follows British affairs closely, has written a superb explainerof how Britain's power structure works and how Johnson has showed significant genius in using it to bend the 'arc of progress' (as Obama likes to say) toward the will of the British voters. Not surprisingly, his party is now soaring in the polls. Black begins deliciously, and his piece just get better and better:

No one in this country should underestimate the significance, for Canada and the world, of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s ingenious measure for assuring the end of the crisis of immobilized government that has possessed the United Kingdom in the past three years. In 2016, 52 per cent of a heavy turnout of British voters chose to leave the European Union. The minority voted to remain — there was no option on the ballot for a compromise. The stark choice was selected by former prime minister David Cameron, because he was convinced that there was no chance that Britain, whatever its level of grumbling, would choose to “crash out” of the association with Europe in which the political elites were comfortable.
The British are the wrong electorate to bluff with such an artificially polar choice. The European Union has had the habit of simply ignoring negative votes in member countries and of waiting for the national governments to frighten their populations into reconsidering their rash decisions. This was what happened with the French, the Danes, and the Irish, and on the second try, the Unionists won. But those votes were not on such fundamental issues, and the negative votes were against the wishes of the incumbent governing parties, and no other European country has such an extensive history in worldwide activities or is as geographically insular as Britain.
This is amazing. The Tories are back. The British really are going to get what they voted for when the voted to leave. And now they have a leader who knows what he's doing. Small wonder he and his party are now soaring. Good job, Boris!

Germany is no place for Jews

by Zeev Avrahami
Prenzlauer Berg, an upscale liberal quarter in Berlin, has a Saturday market that offers fresh produce, food stalls, flowers, fish and champagne. This is not just a market to buy from also rather a place to go if you want to be seen. For the past 18 years, Mahmoud has kept his falafel stall in a corner of the market. He is a native of Germany whose parents were Palestinians. Mahmoud does not like Jews or Israelis. He charges them a special price for his food. He also directs profanities at them and spits on them as they walk by.One Saturday, he yelled at a Jewish passer-by: "Too bad Hitler didn't finish you off." The Germans in the market kept drinking their champagne. When I found myself on the receiving end of the falafel seller's abuse, I went to the market manager to complain. The man calmly explained to me that Mahmoud was a great guy with just one small problem - Jews drive him crazy. He told me that Mahmoud had once been suspended from the market for a month. The second time Mahmoud yelled at me as I entered the market was a year ago, as attacks against Jews in Germany had reached a new peak. So I decided not to keep silent and protest against the German treatment of Jews. For 10 weeks we stood by the market carrying signs. Although we had a license to demonstrate, the police pushed us back, twice. One time I was arrested. Four Germans shouted at me to go back home. Some wanted to engage in conversation about the terrible policies of Israel. We declined. A few looked sympathetically at our signs, but most kept drinking their champagne. The German press coverage of the demonstration described Palestinian and Israeli wrestlers facing each other where we poor Germans were hosting them. But this narrative should not be believed. Mahmoud is shouting profanities at Jews because the German government, by its silence, is allowing him to. The Saturday market in Prenzlauer Berg is not even an extreme example of the treatment of Jews in Berlin. Berlin's Jewish Museum director resigned after having given use of the building to BDS activists, who advocate the boycott of Israel. Munich's Jewish Museum director hosted an exhibit calling the Negev Desert a settlement and accused the Jewish National Fund of war crimes. Both museums are Jewish in name only and are funded by the German government. As they abuse their titles, they use their reputation to spread hatred against Israel. Israelis coming to Berlin are quick to understand that they must adopt a certain state of mind to be accepted into German society's mainstream. One aspect of it is to viciously and attack Israel regardless of events. Young Germans are tired of the inherited guilt of the Holocaust. They are so obsessed by it that they fail to understand that only by accepting their responsibility will they be rid of it.,7340,L-5577775,00.html

Iran's Jew-Hating Judo Hero Seeks Asylum in Germany

The hero of Iranian judo whose recent loss to a Georgian in world competitions was dubbed as the biggest surprise in judo in 2019 has requested asylum in Germany. Saeid Mollaei lost a match in obvious indifference not to face an Israeli judoka in world competitions in Tokyo in August, based on a rule in the Islamic Republic banning competition between Iranian and Israeli athletes. The International Judo Federation has confirmed the news about his asylum request and voiced support for Mollaei. This week, world Bronze medalist in Judo, Mohammad Mohammadi Barimanlou decided to retire sincehe had to face an Israeli judoka in the current international judo championship. Last March, another Iranian judoka Mohammad Abbas Nejad pulled out of the Tbilisi 2018 Grand Prix to avoid facing Israeli athlete Yarin Mnagid in the 66 kilogram weight category. The same has been happening in international Olympic type wrestling matches and both Iranian players, coaches and international sports officials have been putting pressure on the Islamic Republic to abandon its discriminatory policy violating basic principles of international sports.

Germany: Asylum seeker commits 542 offences - no deportation

An asylum seeker who has already committed 542 offences in Germany is at large despite this criminal record. The man, who is said to come from North Africa, has a simple but effective way of preventing his deportation: He simply does not reveal anything about himself. Nobody knows who he is or where his home is. One third of the proceedings were for possession and acquisition of narcotics, one third for fraudulent obtaining of benefits, for example in the form of fare evasion. In addition, there are bodily harm, theft, robbery and about one third for violations of the Residence Act," says Chief Police Inspector Rüdiger Buchta, listing the misconduct of the asylum seeker who entered Germany in 1998 without a passport, "and yet the homeless person can move through Frankfurt unhindered. Fingerprints have not yet been able to help determine identity. He usually mentions Morocco or Algeria as his homeland. The North African was briefly arrested in a raid on Friday. He is said to have been drunk and to have talked incomprehensibly to oneself. Once more fingerprints were taken at the police station. Since there is no warrant for his arrest, the man was released again.

EU fears of a no-deal Brexit soar as UK defends its actions

British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab defended Friday his government’s decision to suspend parliament and rejected suggestions that the move will prevent lawmakers from debating the country’s departure from the European Union as concern mounts that a costly and damaging Brexit without any agreement is now more likely. Britain is due to leave the EU — the first country ever to do so — on Oct. 31; a move that has divided the country and shaken the European project to its foundations. On Wednesday, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson got Queen Elizabeth II’s approval to suspend parliament, a move widely criticized by his political opponents who see it as a maneuver to give them even less time to block a chaotic no-deal Brexit. Johnson previously had refused to rule out such a move, but the timing of the decision took lawmakers — many of whom are on vacation — by surprise. At talks with EU foreign ministers in Finland, Raab said that “the idea that this is some kind of constitutional outrage is nonsense. It’s actually lawful. It’s perfectly proper. There’s precedent for it.” “We’ve been talking about nothing but Brexit. We’re going to get a chance to scrutinize all aspects of Brexit between now and the end of October,” he told reporters. His counterparts expressed concern that a no-deal exit from the bloc appears more likely, but most declined to comment on the government’s move, saying it is a matter for Britain to resolve. “It’s a debate that concerns the British government and parliament,” said Belgian Foreign Minister Didier Reynders. Meanwhile, he said, Britain’s European partners are still waiting for new proposals to resolve the standoff over the divorce agreement, notably the so-called backstop clause which aims to avoid the return of border controls between Ireland in the EU and Britain’s Northern Ireland.

Yesterday, Friday, around 03:30 p.m., the police and fire brigade were deployed in the St. Peter church in Wildeshausen (photo above). A member of the parish had noticed dense smoke in the church hall, which is why the fire brigade was alerted. By the time the fire brigade arrived, no fire was burning, so only the Church had to have ventilation. Due to the circumstances, it must be assumed that the fire in the church was deliberately set. There was no damage to the building itself. The total damage to property is estimated at 80,000 Euros. The high damage is mainly due to the heavy sooting of the interior furnishings. The Wildeshausen police accept relevant hints regarding the crime and suspected perpetrators by calling 04431-99410.

The EU in Meltdown Over Boris Preparing No Deal Brexit

Germany: Nearly 40 percent of knife attackers in North Rhine-Westphalia are migrants

In the first half of 2019, nearly 40 percent of all knife attacks in the German federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia were carried out by foreign nationals, according to the state’s Interior Ministry.

“Thus, foreigners are nearly three times more likely to act as their share of the population of 12,8 percent,” stated the AfD group in the state parliament in Düsseldorf.

Markus Wagner, AFD’s state parliamentary leader told Berlin’s weekly Junge Freiheit: “Behind these numbers hides a great deal of human suffering that should not be happening on this scale.”
He emphasized that being politically correct about the problem and refusing to name it would not solve it. “We do not do justice to this phenomenon if we keep it politically correct.”

As per figures from North Rhine-Westphalia’s Ministry of Interior, 44 knife murders were committed during the first half of 2019. On top of that, offenders used knives in 1,089 cases where personal injuries were recorded.

Wagner criticized missing data with individuals having dual citizenship. Unfortunately, the real number of suspects with migrant backgrounds was not made entirely apparent from the statistics. In the cases where persons have several nationalities and one of them is the German, according to the Ministry of the Interior and tthe national rules “German” is indicated as a nationality.

Because of this, Wagner insists that there is actually no accurate data on just what nationalities are committing the knife crime.“Because naturalized migrants are not identified in the dataset, unfortunately, we cannot get an idea about the criminal liability of this demographic group,” he said.

Data on who’s carrying out knife attacks in North Rhine-Westphalia only just started to be recorded in 2019. Nationwide figures do not yet exist.

Brawl at Iraqi engagement party in Hanover, Germany: one officer was attacked and injured during police operation

On Thursday evening, the police deployed a large number of officers to a rampant Iraqi engagement party in Hanover. At 11.09 p.m. a brawl had been reported at the Bomond event centre on Badenstedter Street (Linden-Mitte district).According to initial estimates, about 150 to 200 people were involved in the brawl. In front of the building, the police officers faced about 100 people, some of whom were very upset. In the course of the first interrogations it could be determined that there had been a brawl between several persons during the festivities. In this regard, the police are investigating for dangerous and simple bodily injury. During the interrogation, the 33-year-old guest ran towards the 40-year-old police officer and tried to knock him over.  The policeman was able to prevent this with the help of a colleague and then to arrest the guest. The attacker scratched the 40-year-old officer in the face and slightly injured him. Only when other police car patrols arrived at Badenstedter Street the situation could be reassured. Now the 33-year-old has to answer for assault and battery. /

The former Foreign Minister and current German Federal President Steinmeier supports donation campaign of an alleged aid organization close to Islamic terrorists

The organization "Islamic Relief Germany" was founded in 1996 in Cologne and belongs to a worldwide operating network. This network is close to the Muslim Brotherhood, extreme Islamists. Due to this proximity, the accounts of Islamoc Relief at the USB Bank were already blocked in 2012. In 2016, HSBC also drew a line under the business relationship with the organisation. But this does not prevent party representatives such as the the former Foreign Minister and current  Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, the Social Democrat Hannelore Kraft, Henriette Reker or the Green politician Cem Özdemir from vigorously advertising the organization, which is close to Islamic terrorism. They gave their name and their photos for a fundraising campaign by Islamic Relief Germany.

What is Islamic Relief?

Islamic Relief is one of the largest Islamic charities in the world. Founded in 1984, Islamic Relief today maintains branches and offices in over 20 countries and it has reported franchise-wide income of hundreds of millions of dollars. Western governments provide a significant proportion of this income.
Islamic Relief was founded - and continues to be managed - by prominent Islamist operatives. A few examples of prominent current and former IR trustees and officials include:
  • Hany El-Banna OBE – founder of Islamic Relief and a former trustee of several charities accused of links to Islamist extremism and terror. El-Banna established Islamic Relief while a student involved in Muslim Brotherhood circles. In 2016, El-Banna gave an interview to Al-Aqsa Voice, the official radio station of the terrorist group Hamas, during which he urged "a strong coalition" between civil society organizations and the Hamas government to "repel any foreign ideas and malignant intrusions."
  • Essam El Haddad – co-founder of Islamic Relief and the foreign policy advisor to Egypt's (now-deposed) Muslim Brotherhood President Mohamed Morsi. Egyptian law enforcement alleges that Haddad used Islamic Relief to finance the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood. The Egyptian prosecution also claimed that Haddad was "financing terrorism by using global charities such as Islamic Relief."
  • Khaled Lamada – chairman of Islamic Relief's USA branch and the founder of Egyptian Americans for Democracy and Human Rights, one of the Brotherhood's key lobbying arms in the United States. Writing and sharing Facebook posts mostly in Arabic, Lamada has circulated text praising the "jihad" of the "Mujahidin of Egypt" for "causing the Jews many defeats." He has republished claims on Facebook that praise Hamas for inflicting a "huge defeat" against the "Zionist entity."
  • Issam Al-Bashir – a prominent member of the European Council for Fatwa and Research, a body of Muslim Brotherhood clerics led by Muslim Brotherhood spiritual leader Yusuf Qaradawi, who has advocated killing Jews and homosexuals. Bashir previously served as the Minister of Guidance and Religious Endowments in the genocidal Sudanese regime.
  • Ahmed Al-Rawi – a former director of Islamic Relief Worldwide, who also served as a director of the Muslim Association of Britain, which the Daily Telegraph has named as the Muslim Brotherhood's "main declared British affiliate." In 2004, Al-Rawi signed a declaration in support of jihad against British and American forces in Iraq.
Islamic Relief has long been accused of funding terror. Both Israel and the United Arab Emirates have designated Islamic Relief as a terror-financing organization. In 2005, Russian authorities accused Islamic Relief of supporting terrorism in Chechnya. And in 2012, the Swiss banking giant UBS closed down Islamic Relief's accounts and "blocked donations coming from its customers to the charity," reportedly over terror financing fears. Four years later, HSBC did the same.
In the Gaza Strip, Islamic Relief funds organizations closely linked to the terrorist organization, Hamas. In February 2015, for example, Islamic Relief UK, using Swedish monies, funded a project run by the Al-Falah Benevolent Society to provide aid to "displaced families." Al-Falah is run by senior Hamas figure, Ramadan Tamboura, and Jamal Hamdi Al-Haddad, who manages a Hamas-run Hebrew language program for Palestinians in Gaza titled "Know Your Enemy."
Another key partner for Islamic Relief branches in Gaza is the Gaza Zakat Committee, also known as the Islamic Zakat Society (IZS). IZS works closely with the Hamas government. It is managed by a prominent Hamas preacher named Hazem Al-Sirraj, a former student of Hamas founder Sheikh Yassin. In 2018, Islamic Relief Worldwide submitted an appeal for $420,000 for IZS through a United Nations fundraising scheme.
Islamic Relief also maintains financial links with several terrorism-linked groups in the Middle East, including the Charitable Society for Social Welfare, which was founded by Al-Qaeda terrorist and "Bin Laden loyalist" Abdul Majeed Al-Zindani.
The Middle East Forum has identified dozens of prominent extremist clerics and Islamist activists who continue to speak regularly at Islamic Relief events. Examples include Abdullah Hakim Quick, who claims that the Islamic position on homosexuality is "death"; Haitham Al-Haddad, who describes Jews as "pigs and apes"; and Abdul Nasir Jangda, who defends sex slavery and advocates killing apostates.
In April 2017, The Times of London reported that Britain's Charity Commission was investigating the charity's decision to organize a tour with Yasir Qadhi, an extremist preacher who had previously told audiences that killing homosexuals was part of his religion.
Islamic Relief has enjoyed a great deal of access to prominent government officials. In the U.S., Islamic Relief officials have dined at the White House, accepted appointments as advisors to the State Department, and enjoyed speeches by administration officials at Islamic Relief events. In the U.K., Islamic Relief events have featured speeches by Prince Charles, the deputy Prime Minister and various cabinet ministers.
In fact, Islamic Relief enjoys the support of taxpayers and politicians across the globe. The Middle East Forum has identified over $80 million in grants and donor matching schemes from Western governments, the European Union and the United Nations since 2007.
Between 2000 and 2016, American community and corporate foundations have given Islamic Relief over $4.3 million. The largest single donation was provided by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which handed Islamic Relief almost $1.4 million.
Islamic Relief also benefits from the credibility of its non-Muslims partners and admirers. Even prominent Jewish charities have worked closely with Islamic Relief, despite its long history of promoting anti-Semitism. Leading newspapers and cable news networks encourage readers to donate to Islamic Relief and produce regular puff-pieces about Islamic Relief's officials and their work.
Islamic Relief's claims to be a moderate organization are gradually losing credibility. Since Islamic Relief was designated as a terrorist organization by the United Arab Emirates, a number of Western countries have starting examining the international charity's activities.
In the United States, a government source revealed to Ryan Mauro, a fellow of the Clarion Project, that agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Internal Revenue Service and Office of Personnel Management had put together a criminal case relating to Islamic Relief in 2016. The Middle East Forum submitted requests for documents concerning Islamic Relief under the Freedom of Information Act to the agencies involved. In January 2018, the OPM confirmed the existence of a criminal investigation, stating: "We are withholding the records ... as they were compiled for law enforcement purposes and their disclosure could reasonably be expected to interfere with ongoing enforcement proceedings, by—for example—suggesting the scope of an investigation and alerting potential subjects as to the nature of the Government's evidence and strategy."
In Germany, in November 2016, Christian Gaebler, a Secretary of State in the Berlin Senate, responded to a written question about Islamic Relief's Islamist connections by declaring: "Islamic Relief Germany has connections to organizations surrounding the Muslim Brotherhood." In January 2017, however, Germany's Federal Court of Auditors announced it was investigating Islamic Relief Deutschland for a "potential misuse of the aid money." Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg, a German radio station, reported in 2017 that the investigation is suspected to relate to the movement of funds from Islamic Relief Deutschland to the Islamic Relief Worldwide headquarters in Britain.
In Sweden, according to a recent government report into the activities of the Muslim Brotherhood, Islamic Relief is a "key organization" in providing "credibility" to the Muslim Brotherhood. The report reveals that Muslim Brotherhood official Haytham Rahmeh is part of Islamic Relief Sweden, and notes that "[Rahmeh] has been involved in supporting militias linked to the Muslim Brotherhood in the Syrian conflict, through lobbying and weapons purchases."
For decades, Western governments have bestowed funds and legitimacy on Islamic Relief. This patronage has ensured that a small group of Islamist students and activists from a city in England would come to manage a vast global franchise that has the ear of Princes and Presidents, while serving as the vanguard for Islamism in the West and a fig-leaf for the extremism that grips Muslim communities.
Western governments must stop funding Islamic Relief. All government partnerships with Islamic Relief must end. Further, legislators in both the U.S. and Europe should encourage law enforcement agencies and charity regulators to look into Islamic Relief's activities in the Gaza Strip and Syria, and examine allegations made by Egyptian prosecutors that Islamic Relief branches were funding Morsi's Muslim Brotherhood government. Politicians should also appeal to international bodies to exclude Islamic Relief and halt all funding.
Ultimately, if Western governments are serious about fighting the intolerant, divisive and violent effects of global Islamism, then Islamic Relief must be shut down. It is the flagship institution of lawful Islamism in the West. There are certainly Muslim charities that do not promote extremism and subsidize terrorism. Why should taxpayers all over the world fund a charity that does?

Germany: Presumed Turk addresses little girls (8,11,9 y/o) partly with sexual intent

After three girls (8,11,9 y/o) have been addressed in a suspicious manner since Monday evening in the Hamburg district of Wilhelmsburg, the police are asking for hints from the population. The three girls were each on their own when a man is said to have attracted their attention in different ways. According to the information provided by the girls, the attempts to contact them varied from merely waving to them to pursuing them and addressing them with sexual intentions. Each of the three girls had been able to flee from the man, but felt very frightened by the encounter with him.All girls immediately reported the incidents to their parents, who then informed the police. In no case, however, did the immediately initiated manhunt lead to the suspect man being found. The investigators of the Sex Crimes Department do not currently rule out the possibility that the same man may have been involved in all cases. This man was described by the girls as a rather obese middle-aged man who may be of Turkish origin and possibly bald with a crown of hair. In two cases he is said to have been on foot, in one case in a black limousine.Witnesses who have made observations about the incidents described or who can provide a clue as to the man's identity are requested to report to the police information telephone by calling 040/4286-56789 or to any police station.

Germany: Enrolment celebration turned into a brawl - members of two hostile Turkish families fought at school

The children of the primary school Friedrich-Ebert-Grundschule on Weddinghofer Street in Kamen will probably not forget their enrolment so soon. At the end of the celebrations for 73 new schoolchildren and their relatives, according to first investigations today ( August 29) around 10.40 a.m. in the sports hall, several members of two families of Turkish origin who had been enemies for a long time committed dangerous bodily injuries. The background is supposed to have been the taking of photographs, which led to the fact that one attacked each other with objects found in the sports hall (slalom poles, gymnastic sticks, high bar fasteners). When the police arrived at the scene a little later, they could no longer detect any fisticuffs. A conversation with the heated minds did not lead to a clarification of the exact background of the dispute. A total of three people are said to have been injured. They were taken to hospitals. Germany: Naked African attacks passers-by and demolishes cars

Last Tuesday, around 10:40 a.m., there was a larger police operation in the area of the street Tumblingerstraße in Munich. Several passers-by became aware of an unknown man, who behaved very aggressively and was very conspicuous. He attacked a 39-year-old cyclist from Munich by striking her with a bouquet of flowers according to the current state of investigation and then chasing her.Witnesses then called the police. Shortly afterwards, the man approached an Audi car occupied by two people and attempted to enter the vehicle by force. The Audi driver had stopped at this point to assist the cyclist. A physical confrontation arose with the car occupants and the unknown man. The African finally managed to sit alone in the car, start it and drive it. He injured an additional passer-by who had noticed the scenery and wanted to assist the car occupants. He was hit and injured. After the suspect had subsequently damaged a passing van, he stopped the Audi car and fled on foot and without clothing towards Thalkirchener Street. The 39-year-old had to be taken to hospital. The 41-year-old and the 49-year-old were treated on an outpatient base by the ambulance service. The Somali was charged with several bodily injuries and traffic offences. Investigations into the facts of the case and the exact background to the crime are ongoing. The suspect will be brought before the investigating judge on the 28. of August 2019 to clarify the question of imprisonment.

Uncle of Italian Girl Murdered by Migrants Threatens to Show Photos of Her Dismembered Body if Immigration Laws Loosened

The Uncle of an Italian girl who was raped and murdered by a Nigerian migrant has threatened to show photos of her dismembered body to the Italian parliament if the country’s new government repeals Matteo Salvini’s strict immigration laws. Following the collapse of Italy’s coalition government, led by populist firebrand Salvini, the 5 star movement is set to form a new coalition with the left of center Partito Democratico (PD). This prospect led the Uncle of 18-year-old Pamela Mastropietro, who was raped, murdered and dismembered by a Nigerian “cannibal mafia” in the Italian town of Macerata, to threaten to display photos of his niece’s remains to the public. Marco Valerio Verni has threatened to display blown-up images of the victim, which left her unrecognizable, “To remind those in power of the catastrophic effects of illegal immigration.” The original hearing into Mastropietro’s murder was held behind closed doors because of the extremely gruesome nature of the photos, but now Verni is vowing to go public with the images if Italy’s new government once again approves the arrival of migrant boats arriving at Italian ports. “Every day we are bombarded with tearful images of barges loaded with migrants that the Left would like to receive without worrying about the consequences. The same Left that remained silent when Pamela was raped and murdered with unspeakable ferocity,” said Verni. Innocent Oseghale, Pamela’s murderer, arrived in Italia via a migrant boat. He is currently serving a term of life imprisonment.

Germany: Iraqi asylum seeker tries to rape woman in pub toilet

According to information from the authorities so far, a 25-year-old woman is said to have stayed in a restaurant in Hirschstraße in Ulm on Sunday. When the woman had not returned from the ladies' toilet after a long time, a friend of the woman had looked after her at about 3.30 a.m.A witness called in by her then opened the door from the outside to the toilet cabin in which the 25-year-old had been. The witness had established that there had been another man in the same cabin who had immediately taken flight. Several witnesses persecuted this man and detained him not far from the restaurant, despite resistance, until the police arrived. After preliminary arrest, the investigators brought the suspect to the responsible magistrate on Sunday on urgent suspicion of attempted rape. He issued an arrest warrant at the request of the public prosecutor's office. Since then, the man - an Iraqi asylum-seeker - has been detained on remand for the risk of absconding. Investigations by the authorities continue. They praise the courageous intervention of the witnesses.

Germany: Iraqi tries to rape 13-year-old girl

On Saturday evening, a 19-year-old addressed a 13-year-old girl who was in the garden in Weissenhorn. Finally, the young man attacked the girl in the basement of a neighbouring building. He touched the 13-year-old indecently above her clothes and kissed her against her will. When the man tried to become even more pushy and tried to undress the 13-year-old, she pushed him away and fled. The 13-year-old met the Iraqi in the neighbourhood. The two of them had already been in occasional personal contact for several days. The man had already expressed his affection for the girl on several occasions, and also via a social network. After the young girl had confided in her relatives, they filed a complaint with the Weissenhorn Police Station. Further investigations were now carried out by the Neu-Ulm Criminal Investigation Department.

London: A mix of foreign tourism and Islamic tribalism

I just visited London, which I had missed for some time. And shockingly, apart from the statue of Winston Churchill in Parliament Square, London is no longer London.

Excellent services, widespread wealth, global attraction, consumerism at full steam, the symbol of the royal family that still holds up, an enviable British education, so many positive things that many Westerners lack and envy.

But also many scenes that look as though they come from Afghanistan, Somalia or Saudi Arabia. Not in Tower Hamlets or in the East End, the Muslim enclaves of London where Islam is already the majority, but in many areas of the center of the British capital: Thousands of women in burqa, niqab and abayas, Muslim men with many wives. And not rich tourists from the Gulf States at Harrods, but local women with strollers, 3-4 children, in their everyday life.

15 per cent of London’s population is already Muslim.

In the city, radical Islam is as common as a plate of fish and chips.

In a children's store, eight out of ten cashiers are veiled. You see many white British converted to Islam going to or praying at the mosques. In one, two generations, what will be the face of the city that was the pillar of Western civilization?

Brexit is the last chance to stop the Islamization of the UK. They who want it refuse to be cancelled by globalism. They reclaim an identity, a border, a heritage.

Boris Johnson must deliver it by October or London will definitively become a hub for foreign tourism and a home for Islamic tribalism.

German Hezbollah mosque declares it is proud of terrorism and pro-Khamenei

The Hezbollah mosque in the German city of Münster posted a shocking video in December, 2018 on its Facebook page, announcing it was proud of terrorism and its allegiance to the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

The Washington-based organization, The Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), first revealed the video and wrote on its website “Poem Recited in a Münster, Germany Shiite Mosque: We Have Pledged Allegiance to Khamenei; We Are Accused of Terrorism and Are Proud of It .”

According to a MEMRI transcription of the video from the Imam Mahdi Zentrum Shiite mosque in Münster, in the German state North Rhine-Westphalia, a man recited a poem with the lyrics, "We have pledged our allegiance to the Jurisprudent Ruler [Khamenei]. We are soldiers willing to sacrifice our lives for Nasrallah [‘Victory of Allah’]. We belong to the party of Ruhollah [Khomeini]. We have been accused of being terrorists – we are proud of terrorism.

"Listen all nations! Listen, oh Wahhabis! The roaring Arab wave will never retreat. The convoys will not wait long with their march. We will not come to you in small numbers. We will come to you from all over. The brigades will cross [the border] from Yemen, and we will pray in Al-Baqi regardless of the [Sunni] Nasibis. We are the Shiites of Ali Bin Abu Taleb, and will only die free.”

The US classifies Iran's regime as the leading international state-sponsor of terrorism.

The Jerusalem Post reported, in July, an increase of Hezbollah members in Germany's most populous state of North Rhine-Westphalia .

According to the intelligence document reviewed by the Post, the number of Hezbollah members climbed from 105 in 2017 to 110 in 2018 in North Rhine-Westphalia.

MEMRI further noted that the transcription revealed the Islamist at the Imam Mahdi Zentrum stating: “[Oh Mahdi], our hearts are with you, and our swords are with you. We place our lives in your hands.

"Our children, our women, and the men of the Lord – their fate is laid upon your threshold. The soil of Yemen has been watered with their blood in the confrontation with the Zionists and the takfiris. We have sacrificed [some of] our most previous offspring. In Syria and Iraq, we have written in blood that victory is coming. We have adhered to our loyalty in spite of the hardship, striving for martyrdom on the day of glory.

"Oh Mahdi, death in your cause is the gate to Heaven. Walking in your path is a great honor. We will not scream: ‘If only we were with you.’We will say from today: ‘We are with you.’ In Syria of Zaynab, we are with you. We are with you in Yemen and in Iraq. We will be with you wherever you go.”

The German intelligence report wrote that “for more than 20 years, the Islamic Center (Imam-Mahdi-Zentrum) in Münster has been a platform and meeting place for Hezbollah supporters in North Rhine-Westphalia and western Germany. Other focal points: Essen/Bottrop, Dortmund and Bad Oeynhausen.”

The 363-page intelligence report, which covers threats to the security of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, referenced the Lebanese terrorist entity Hezbollah 21 times.

Steve Alter, spokesman for German interior ministry, which is responsible for banning terrorist groups, did not immediately respond to a Post query on Wednesday.

Chancellor Angel Merkel and her interior ministry Horst Seehofer have rejected calls from the US government and the nearly 100,000 member German Jewish community to ban the Lebanese terrorist entity Hezbollah.

Germany has merely outlawed the so-called military wing of Hezbollah in Germany. According to German intelligence reports reviewed by the Post, 1,050 Hezbollah members and supporters operate in Germany. The Hezbollah operatives raise funds, recruit new members and spread Jihadi and antisemitic ideologies.

The United Kingdom, the US, the Arab League, Israel, Canada, the Netherlands have designated Hezbollah’s entire organization a terrorist movement.

Germany: Afghan fare dodger insults and beats train attendant

Yesterday, Tuesday, a 39-year-old train attendant called the police and informed the federal police in Magdeburg about a man without a ticket who had also insulted and beaten her. The victim was travelling in an suburban train on the Schönebeck - Magdeburg line and wanted to check the man's ticket at around 11.50 a.m. He could not produce a ticket, but a large repertoire of abusive language and insults, which he addressed to the train attendant. But that's not all: The man hit the train attendant's hand, which then swelled up a lot. After the arrival of the train at Magdeburg main station, a patrol of the Federal Police detained the Afghan and brought him to the office for further investigation. The man is facing charges of fare evasion, insult and bodily injury. The train attendant was in severe pain due to the blow inflicted by the man. She had to break off her service and consult a doctor. It was noteworthy that other travellers had witnessed the man's criminal actions and subsequently also reported to the Federal Police as witnesses.

Austria: Afghan attacks policemen with knife

As it only became known today, an Afghan citizen in the Vienna district of Simmering attacked the officers with a Stanley knife during a police operation. The police forces then had to defend themselves with a service weapon to protect themselves. On the night of Tuesday, an Afghan is said to have clashed so violently with an Iranian that the police were called to the accommodation. When the police arrived, the situation must have escalated and the armed 39-year-old attacked the officers, who then had to resort to their service weapons. Several shots are said to have been fired. The suspected assailant was hit at least once. However, there was no danger to his life.

Germany: Man asked them to turn down the volume of their music, then he was threatened by Syrians, spat on and thrown at him with shards

When a 32-year-old man from Senftenberg asked his two Syrian neighbours (24 and 18 years old) to turn their music down a little, the two threatened and spat at the man, they destroyed their own furniture and then threw shards at the man and his dog.The fact that the immigrants often have a somewhat different awareness for volume than most locals is known. A citizen in Senftenberg (Oberspreewald-Lausitz) now had to learn that the request to put an end to disturbances of the peace can lead to a real excess of violence against the complainant. According to the responsible police station, a disturbance of the peace last Monday evening at 7 p.m. caused a police operation in Johannes-R. Becher Street:
"Two residents drunk with 1.27 and 1.39 alcohol per mil played music loudly, so that the neighbours felt disturbed and a 32-year-old addressed them.As a result, the 24 and 18 year old Syrians threatened, insulted and spat at the resident and destroyed their own furniture. Then they threw shards at the man and his dog.The 18-year-old Syrian injured himself in his violent actions and had to be medically treated in a hospital, both suspects were taken into custody. The 24-year-old had to be taken to hospital during the night due to a state of psychic discharge, and the men were investigated."

Germany: Asylum seeker from Gambia smashes dozens of cars - damage at least 50,000 euros (VIDEO)

On Monday, a 21-year-old Gambier smashed more than 20 cars at the train station in Lauffen. Refugees from the Lauffen accommodation for asylum seekers had already called the police on Sunday when the man was supposed to have announced his crime. The young man had apparently already started a riot in the accommodation on Sunday. He is said to have cut cables and destroyed telephones and bicycles. According to the reports, he stabbed the bicycle tires with a screwdriver. The police confirmed the damage of bicycles.Since Monday afternoon, the 21-year-old has been admitted to a clinic and the question of how to proceed is still open. If a stay in a clinic is not an option, a pre-trial detention could be possible - as there could be a risk of repetition. This will then be a matter for a district judge.

Liar, liar, Africa is on fire

By Ethel C. Fenig

While France's President Emmanuel Macron tweeted fake pictures of Amazon fires — "the lungs of the world," he calls the region — he was curiously silent about a similar potential problem closer to least for a while.

NASA maps show that there are more fires in this African region than in the Amazon.
Over a period of two days last week, Angola had approximately three times more fires than Brazil , according to data that Bloomberg news agency obtained from Weather Source. On Sunday, 6,902 fires were recorded in Angola and 3,395 in the neighboring Democratic Republic of the Congo , compared to 2,127 fires in Brazil. In the last 48 hours, Zambia ranked fourth in the list of countries with the most fires and Bolivia, a neighbor of Brazil, ranked sixth.
It remains to be determined whether these are grassland or forest fires, the magnitude of these and whether they have been caused . Experts say that the fires in the rainforest of Central Africa are often seasonal and are linked to traditional farming methods . African farmers set fire to forests in the dry season to "clean" the land in order to plant crops. Deforestation, soil erosion and loss of biodiversity are some of the consequences of using this agricultural technique known as " logging and burning " and is usually carried out by these dates, one month before the start of the season of rains
According to NASA, in June last year more than 67,000 fires were registered in a period of one week.
Macron, busily interfering in the conservative government of Brazil, threatening to withhold grant money to fight the fire unless Brazil does what it is told, initially remained silent about the troubles in Africa. But later

:... [he] announced on Twitter that they were considering "the possibility of launching a similar initiative" in sub-Saharan Africa. His reaction came when several users of the social network reproached him for ignoring the flames in sub-Saharan Africa.
Fires happen. So does weather. And climate.

As stated in the article, some fires are deliberately set to clear land for crops because people have to eat...the planet and its environment be damned.

Germany: Two female pensioners and four off-duty police officers attacked by migrants over the weekend

Four off-duty police officers were attacked by a group of ten to fifteen people of party Turkish origin last Saturday in Hamm, Westphalia.

The incident began after they were approached by a 19-year-old man who immediately recognized one of the officers from a past encounter. After the four off-duty policemen rejected the young man’s advances he disappeared. But shortly thereafter, the man returned with ten to fifteen others and attacked the police, according to Dortmund prosecutor Jörg Schulte-Göbel, Bild reports.

That’s when the attack ensued.

Two police officers were injured seriously, with one suffering cuts to his abdomen while the other suffered a concussion from being repeatedly kicked while he was down. The other two policemen suffered only minor injuries likme cuts, bruises, and abrasions.

That night, two 19-year-old suspects were arrested and are said to be Turkish-German.

North Rhine-Westphalia’s Interior Minister Herbert Reul (CDU) expressed his horror and dismay at the night’s events.

“We do not know all the details yet, we have to wait for the result of the investigation. But as the case currently stands, this attack on our four police officers has to be condemned in the strongest terms,” Reul told the Bild newspaper.

In the same weekend, in the city of Mönchengladbach – a city close to Düsseldorf and the Netherlands border – three members of a youth gang were arrested for the alleged attack and robbery of two senior citizens. The assailants are eleven, twelve, and fifteen years old, Zeit reports.

According to witnesses and the victims, the alleged perpetrators acted with extreme ruthlessness and aggressiveness. The group reportedly approached their 91 and 74-year-old female victims from behind, kicked them brought them down, and then stole their handbags, police say. The 91-year-old women had to be hospitalized following the robbery. The other wasn’t injured.

Germany: Afghan citizen arrested after sexual harassment of 13-year-old girl

Police are looking for witnesses to a crime of sexual assault against a 13-year-old girl. The crime took place on Saturday, August 10 at 5 p.m. near Bad Klosterlausnitz. At this time the girl walked from the Erich-Weinert street in Hermsdorf over the street Birkenlinie through the forest to Bad Klosterlausnitz.A young man, known to her briefly, had followed her and tried to kiss and touch her. The girl fought hard. Two witnesses became aware and came to her aid, whereupon the attacker fled with his bicycle. In the meantime, the 17-year-old Afghan has been identified and arrested. A magistrate issued an arrest warrant on Monday, after which the accused was sent to a juvenile prison. The two witnesses who helped the girl are urgently requested to report to the Jena criminal investigation department by calling 03641-810 or the Stadtroda police by calling 036428-640.

Germany: Turk harasses several women at the station and pulls a 17-year-old girl across the platform

Last Saturday evening, a 31-year-old Turk harassed several women at Ostkreuz station in Berlin. When a witness intervened, the man, along with another perpetrator, beat him. Around 7:40 p.m., the 31-year-old Turkish citizen allegedly first harassed several women and then grabbed a 17-year-old girl by the arm and pulled her across the platform. When an acquaintance of the young girl tried to rush to help, the 31-year-old struck and kicked the man jointly with another person. Alarmed federal police arrested the aggressive 31-year-old shortly afterwards and brought him to the police station for further investigation. The officials initiated preliminary proceedings against the Turk for bodily injury and dangerous bodily injury. In addition, he has to answer for resistance against police officers and insults. After all police measures had been completed, the officers handed the 31-year-old man, who had complained of pain after kicking and hitting the cell door, over to the ambulance service.

Europe: "Mediterranean Taxis" for People-Smugglers

Italian authorities have seized a Spanish migrant rescue ship after a three-week standoff between the Italian government and the Spanish charity operating the vessel.
Interior Minister Matteo Salvini had refused to allow the Open Arms rescue ship, carrying more than 80 mostly African migrants, to dock in Italy. The refusal was in line with his crackdown on migrant smuggling that has effectively closed Italian ports to migrant rescue boats since June 2018.
Salvini has accused European non-governmental organizations (NGOs) of coordinating with people-smuggling mafias to pick up migrants off the coast of Libya and transport them to Italian ports. Italian officials have referred to the charity rescue boats as "Mediterranean taxis" for people-smugglers.
Sicilian prosecutor Luigi Patronaggio on August 20 ordered the Open Arms, anchored one kilometer off Italy's southernmost island of Lampedusa, to dock in Sicily so that its passengers could disembark. He made the decision, in opposition to Salvini, after more than a dozen migrants jumped overboard and tried to swim to shore. Subsequent video footage showed that Open Arms staged the jumps to manipulate public opinion.
The Open Arms, operated by a Spanish NGO of the same name, had picked up 147 migrants off the coast of Libya on August 1. The Italian government allowed those in need of medical attention and all unaccompanied children to disembark on August 17. Five EU countries — Spain, France, Germany, Luxembourg and Portugal — agreed to take in the rest, although details of the understanding have yet to be finalized.
On August 18, the Spanish government announced that the Open Arms would be allowed to dock at the Spanish port of Algeciras in Cádiz, and at Mahón in Menorca in the Balearic Islands. The captain of the Open Arms, however, rejected the offer. He argued that it was "impossible" to attempt the four- to six-day journey given the conditions on board: "We cannot endanger the security and physical integrity of the migrants and crew. We need to dock now."
The captain's refusal to accept Spain's offer fueled suspicion about the financial and political motivations behind the migrant rescues — including efforts by Open Arms and other NGOs to promote open borders by discrediting Salvini's hardline immigration policies.
"We are facing the umpteenth mockery of the Spanish Open Arms, which for days has been wandering around the Mediterranean for the sole purpose of gathering as many people as possible to bring them always and only to Italy," Salvini tweeted. "In all this time they already could have gone back and forth to a Spanish port three times. These NGOs are only political. They are using the immigrants against our country. I will not give up."
Spain's acting Deputy Prime Minister Carmen Calvo expressed bafflement at Open Arms. In an interview with Spanish radio Cadena SER, she noted that the ship could easily have docked in Tunisia or Malta but refused to do so:
"We do not understand the position of Open Arms. We have offered all types of support: medical attention, supplies. We understand the situation is critical because of the uncertainty and desperation, but once you tell them they have a safe port, the migrants know they are going to arrive, and anybody can understand that there is no problem."
On August 20, the Spanish government dispatched a warship, the Audaz, from the Rota naval base to pick up the migrants and take them to the Spanish island of Mallorca. The round-trip voyage, however, was estimated to take at least a week and Patronaggio acted after reports that some migrants were suicidal.
The Italian government later impounded the Open Arms after the Italian Coast Guard, in an inspection, found "serious security anomalies." The Italian Ministry of Transport said that the ship would not be allowed to leave Sicily until the problems were remedied.
Italian Transportation Minister Danilo Toninelli called on the Spanish government to crack down on the activities of the Open Arms by de-registering the vessel and removing its Spanish flag. "I hope that Spain answers our appeal and commits to stopping Open Arms in the future with the means, and in the ways, it deems right," he said. A de-flagged ship would legally be unable to continue picking up migrants.
The Spanish government, facing growing criticism over its handling of the standoff, has since expressed a harder line against the Open Arms NGO. On August 21, Calvo told Cadena SER radio that the Open Arms did not have a permit to transport migrants and could be fined €900,000 ($1,000,000) for violating an express ban on sailing to the seas off Libya: "Open Arms does not have a permit to rescue, as the captain of the ship knows. This is a state ruled by law. We are all subject to the law."
In the past, however, the Spanish government has worked closely with Open Arms. In August 2018, the NGO announced that it had reached an agreement with the government to coordinate migrant rescues in the Strait of Gibraltar and the Mediterranean Sea. That same month, Spanish Development Minister José Luis Ábalos heaped praise on Open Arms for rescuing "tens of thousands of people since 2015." It remains unclear if the NGO is receiving money from the government for its activities.
The Spanish anti-immigration party Vox filed a lawsuit against Open Arms and called for the arrest of the ship's captain, Óscar Camps. "Disguising its activities as 'rescue work,' this 'NGO' is an accomplice to the people-smuggling of international mafia networks," Vox leader Santiago Abascal tweeted, adding:
"Open Arms does not rescue shipwrecked people. If it did, it would take them to the nearest port. What it does is use immigrants as an extortion tool against countries that choose to defend their sovereignty.
"These fake humanitarian organizations, in the name of solidarity, exploit the good will of many people. Their work, however, is promoted by those who want to destroy the borders of Europe, and only benefits human traffickers.
"For all these reasons, we will act firmly and forcefully against any NGO, government, association or group that intends to continue promoting illegal, massive immigration and subject us to the interests of international human trafficking mafias.
"This unlawful and criminal activity endangers our welfare state, our sovereignty, the safety of Spaniards and even the lives they claim to rescue. They will have to answer to the courts sooner rather than later."
European charity vessels have repeatedly attempted — with varying degrees of success — to bring migrants rescued at sea to Italian ports:
  • December 22, 2018. The Spanish ship Open Arms, carrying 311 migrants rescued off the coast of Libya, sailed to the Spanish port of Algeciras after the vessel was refused entry by Italy and Malta. "Italian ports are CLOSED," Salvini tweeted. "The human traffickers and their accomplices know that our ports are closed, STOP!" he added.
  • March 19, 2019. The Italian-flagged charity ship Mare Jonio was impoundedafter it docked at a port in Lampedusa and dropped off 49 migrants picked up in waters off Libya. "The ship of the anarchist squats has been seized, excellent," Salvini said. "In Italy there is now a government that defends borders and makes laws respected, above all by the people traffickers. Those who do wrong will pay." Earlier he had said that the migrants would not be allowed to enter Italy: "They can be treated, dressed and fed. We can give them any kind of comfort, but they will not set foot in Italy."
  • May 10, 2019. The Mare Jonio was again impounded after it docked at a port in Lampedusa and dropped off 30 migrants rescued off the coast of Libya.
  • June 29, 2019. Italian authorities arrested the 31-year-old German captain of the Dutch-flagged Sea-Watch 3, operated by German charity Sea-Watch, after she illegally docked the vessel carrying 40 migrants at Lampedusa. Salvini tweeted: "Outlaw arrested. Pirate ship seized. Big fine on foreign NGO. Migrants all redistributed in other European countries. Mission completed." An Italian judge subsequently released her on the grounds that she had been acting to save lives. The decision angered Salvini, who said it would encourage other charity vessels to defy the docking ban.
  • July 6, 2019. The Italian-flagged charity vessel Alex, in defiance of Salvini, brought 41 shipwrecked migrants into port in Lampedusa. Salvini tweeted: "To break the law, these jackals put the lives of immigrants on board at risk. Will they also go unpunished? In a serious country, arrests and seizure of the vessel would be immediate: what will the judges do this time???"
Meanwhile, the Norwegian-flagged Ocean Viking, operated by two French charities, was allowed to dock in Malta late on August 23 after being refused entry into Italy. The ship, carrying 356 migrants, had been sailing between Sicily and Lampedusa for two weeks while waiting for permission to dock in Italy. The migrants will be relocated to France, Germany, Ireland, Luxembourg, Portugal and Romania.
In an essay published by the Spanish newspaper El Mundo on August 24, José María Ruiz Soroa, a distinguished professor of maritime law at the University of the Basque Country, explained that European NGOs are manipulating gaps between national laws, which restrict migration, and international law, which require helping shipwrecked persons, in order to deliver illegal immigrants to the EU.
Ruiz Soroa wrote that NGOs are abusing international maritime laws (mainly the International Convention on Salvage and the International Convention on Maritime Search and Rescue) which require ship captains to rescue shipwrecked persons they find at sea and deliver them to a safe place or port. He noted that "safe ports" as defined by those laws would allow NGOs to return shipwrecked persons to Libya, but the NGOs insist on transporting them to Europe:
"It is quite clear that when the organized networks that control migrants from Libya throw people into the sea in vessels that lack even the slightest navigability conditions to safely transport them to European ports, what they are doing is deliberately placing them into the legal status of shipwrecked persons. These are not shipwrecks caused by maritime accidents, as contemplated by international law, they are 'shipwrecks of convenience.' No matter how much migrants do it out of desperation, they formally become shipwrecked to obtain that legal status, and once rescued, they are allowed to enter Europe by bypassing the ban on illegal immigration.
"In the final analysis, what we are witnessing in Mediterranean waters is one of the most obvious cases of legal fraud imaginable: intentionally creating the appearance of a factual event regulated in a certain way in a special law... to escape the inexorable application of the general law that really corresponds to that underlying factual situation; which is one of emigration and that is prohibitive. Bypass one law based on another. The Civil Code, and common sense, say that such a trick is illegal.
"Does this mean that the castaways found (pursued by?) by the Open Arms should have been abandoned to their fate? Obviously not. Human life is well above such consideration, and the fake shipwrecked persons of the Open Arms should be helped.... This situation of widespread legal fraud, however, is that the affected states intervene to stop and prevent the actions of private individuals, enthusiasts and well-intentioned do-gooders who only aggravate the problem. The rescues become a state matter when relevant public interest aspects are at stake, as it is with the environment, and as it should be in the case of illegal immigration.
"The Spanish government intervened months ago: The Open Arms was prohibited from rescuing shipwrecked people in Libyan waters. The ban was not made on a whim but on the well-founded suspicion that the presence of the Open Arms in those waters would encourage potential migrants to endanger themselves in the hope of being rescued. The shipowners, however, violated the ban when they decided on their own that the law can be broken when a suffering humanity is placed on the other side of the scale of justice....
"There will be shipwrecked people of convenience (and some will die for it) as long as they have a confirmed hope that there will be rescuers waiting for them out there. It is an unsustainable deadly loop that must be cut somewhere."
A recent Ipsos poll published by the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera foundthat a majority of Italians support Salvini's hard line on immigration: 59% said that they agree with his decision to close Italian ports to migrant rescue ships; 71% said that other European countries should do more to share the burden. The poll also found that a majority of Italians (56%) believe that the NGOs involved in rescuing migrants are motivated by money; only 22% believe they are motivated by humanitarianism.
Since Salvini announced his hardline immigration policies in June 2018, the number of migrant arrivals to Italy — as well as the number of dead and missing — has significantly decreased. The number of arrivals by sea fell from 119,369 in 2017 to 23,370 in 2018, a drop of 80%, according to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. During that same period, the number of dead and missing fell from 2,873 to 1,311, a decline of more than 50%.
A similar trend has continued in 2019: 2,800 migrants arrived in Italy by sea between January and June of 2019, compared to 16,600 during the same six-month period in 2018 and 83,800 in 2017, according to the UNHCR.
Of those who arrived in Italy by sea in 2019, 600 (21%) were from Tunisia; 400 (14%) were from Pakistan; 300 (10%) were from Algeria; 300 (10%) were from Iraq; 200 (7%) were from Ivory Coast; 200 (7%) were from Bangladesh; 100 (3.5%) were from Sudan; 100 (3.5%) were from Iran; 100 (3.5%) were from Morocco; and 50 (1.7%) were from Egypt, according to the UNHCR.
The data indicates that most of the migrants who arrived in Italy during the first six months of 2019 are economic migrants, not refugees fleeing warzones.
