Palestinian Islamist convicted of attempted murder of German officials

A German court in the southern city of Augsburg on Wednesday sentenced a radical Islamist Palestinian asylum seeker to a 10 year prison term for attempting to murder judges and prosectors. Haidar A, the extremist Palestinian, had previously been sentenced in 2017 for attempting to behead a refugee. "It's amazing how a young man can be so caught up in hate, anger and blind rage," said presiding judge Sandra Mayer, " reported the local paper Augsburger Allgemeine. She added that "Haidar A. is caught in almost medieval ways of thinking and the court has little hope that he will develop for the better." The court sentenced the 26-year-old Haidar for six attempted murders on Wednesday. Haidar sought during the judicial process in the Summer of 2017 to take the weapon of a police office in the courtroom. He was, according to the Augsburger Allgemeine, upset that the court sentenced him to a lengthy prison term for attempting to behead a asylum seeker with a knife in the town of Hurlach--a municipality in the district of Landsberg in the southern German state of Bavaria . Haider also spat in the direction of the judge's bench and screamed: "To hell with you and those who created you." Haidar wanted to behead the refugee because he "insulted his religious feelings," according to the paper's report. The court sentenced him to 12 years and nine months in prison. When the prison sentence was announced, Haidar tossed his shoe in the direction of the judge and attempted to secure the firearm of a police officer. The combined sentences from 2017 and Wednesday likely mean that Haidar could serve a prison term longer than 20 years. Haidar wrote in a letter to cousins that judge is a "whore" and the other judges are her "pimps." He wrote in the letter that he wants to kill the judges. Haidar also admitted in a letter that he sent to the court that he wanted to carry out a campaign of bloody revenge on Germans and Christians. The German Bild paper reported that he wrote the panel of judges overseeing his case: "I promise, if I get a pig from your worshipers of the cross in the hands, I will drink his blood. I'll spit at you and your cross. " German authorities frequently decline to release the last name of criminals and defendants to protect privacy rights. Judge Mayer said that Haidar presents himself as the victim and blames his situation on the fellow refugee in the asylum shelter where he lived, who he sought to murder. as well as the judicial system who prosecuted his action. The judge said Haidar accussed the the judicial process and other foreigners of "hositility toward Muslims." The judge said that "It has nothing to do with the fact that the defendant is a foreigner or Muslim, but only that he wanted to kill people,"noting that it was strange how a person who was taken in and received as a refugee in Germany could develop such hatred against the state and society.Walter Rubach, the criminal defense attorney for Haidar, told the Augsburger Allgemeine that he believes Haidar will not be released before his prison term is completed and because he is a Palestinian without a passport it will be difficult to extradite him to a country.

Austria: Election Exit Polls Suggest Crushing Victory for Sebastian Kurz

Exit polls released following the Austrian national snap election pont to a decisive victory for Austrian People’s Party (ÖVP) leader Sebastian Kurz and huge losses for the populist Freedom Party.

Several exit polls show the centre-right ÖVP with as much as 37.2 per cent of the vote, an increase from the party’s 31.5 per cent at the last national election in 2017.

The populist Freedom Party saw the largest loss, according to the polls, netting just 16 per cent of the vote compared to their 26 per cent in 2017, and well behind the Social Democrats who won 22 per cent of the vote.

The loss is likely due to the effects of the Ibiza scandal that rocked the party in May and forced its former leader Heinz-Christian Strache to resign as Vice-Chancellor and as leader of the party shortly before the European Parliament elections.

The scandal set in motion the events which ultimately led to the collapse of the OVP-FPÖ coalition government. Kurz forced FPÖ Interior Minister Herbert Kickl to resign, leading to all FPÖ ministers resigning in protest and triggering a confidence vote that brought down Kurz himself.

FPÖ General-Secretary Harald Vilimsky reacted to the exit poll numbers saying that it was time for a reboot in the party, saying that while he was disappointed with the result, “we have to make a fresh start.”

While the FPÖ suffered the biggest loss, the Austrian Green Party has seen the largest gains with the exit polls showing a 14.3 percent estimated result compared to just 3.8 percent in the previous national election.

Green Party campaign manager Thimo Fiesel labelled the election “a historic evening for the Austrian Greens,” and added that it was “the biggest political comeback of the Second Republic.”

When asked about a potential coalition deal with the OVP and Mr Kurzx, Fiesel was reluctant to comment, saying that the parties had substantive policy differences.

Should the exit poll results hold, Mr Kurz will have several options to form a coalition government, including the possibility of a coalition with the Greens, something attempted by German Chancellor Angela Merkel in 2017 with the so-called “Jamaica coalition” — although without success.

Kurz also has the option to renew the coalition deal with the FPÖ, but the populist party appears to have ruled this out.

The EU is waging war on Israel!

Joachim Kuhs, MEP

As a Member of the EU Parliament on the Budget Committee for the Alternative for Germany party (AfD), I was able to visit Judea and Samaria August 11-15 and see how the European Union is undermining the peace process and funding illegal Arab settlements in Area C.
First off, I must ask you to forget everything you have read about the AfD from mainstream media, which have often become anti-conservative and anti-Israel. Just as the left-wing media managed to somehow portray Donald Trump, perhaps the most pro-Israel President of the United States ever, as “anti-Semitic”, they have also falsely portrayed the AfD in the same way, the most pro-Israel party in the German Bundestag and the only party which actively seeks to defend Jews in Germany against imported Muslim anti-Semitism.
As head of the “Christians in the AfD”, I have always admired the people of Israel. This was my first visit to the Holy Land, however, and as with Trump and the AfD, I discovered that nothing in Israel is the way the left-wing media would have us believe.
We visited the University of Ariel, where Director Albert Pinhasov told us of his hopes for peace for the region, emanating from his excellent university. We met some of the pioneering settlers in Samaria, like Daniella Weiss and Boaz HaEtzny, son of Elyakim HaEtzny. We visited the Tura winery, where manager Vered Ben Sa’adon told us how the EU boycotts her prize-winning wines, and met Christian volunteers Joshua Waller and Josiah Hilton from Tennessee, who harvest her grapes on the front lines of Nablus.
We spoke to Likud members who are well aware of the dangers posed by anti-Israel governments and the growing violence against Jews in Europe, and are open and friendly to the AfD. We met with NGOs like “Reservists on Duty”, who expose the lies told about the Israeli army by far-left activists like Dean Issacharoff of “Breaking the Silence”. Unfortunately, Dean’s father Jeremy Issacharoff, the Israeli ambassador in Berlin, has yet to condemn his son’s radical agenda, even after the violent riots he was involved in in July. Mr. Issacharoff is apparently too busy giving interviews to the “Neue Westfälische”, a newspaper which is 100% owned by the left-wing Social Democrats, calling the AfD “anti-Semitic” and claiming we seek to “downplay the Holocaust” without any evidence for these outrageous claims.
We as AfD think the best monument to the Holocaust is the living, thriving state of Israel. While Mr. Issacharoff’s leftist friends are happy to give speeches once a year commemorating the Holocaust, especially when they can use them to attack the AfD, we believe actions speak louder than words.
In May, we drafted a bill to outlaw BDS in Germany, forcing the other parties to draft their own, watered-down version.
In June, we drafted a bill to outlaw Hezbollah in Germany, which does a lot of its business here. The other parties all sided with Hezbollah.
And now, my colleague Beatrix von Storch revealed that, while countries including the USA, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Belgium and New Zealand have cut funding for the blatantly corrupt and Hamas-friendly UNRWA, the Merkel government has stepped in to keep UNRWA afloat, more than doubling its funding from €80 million in 2018 to €173,2 million in 2018. The AfD is the only party in Germany that demands an immediate end to this. The AfD is also the only party in Germany which does not fund NGOs that support BDS and terrorism, as NGO Monitor found.
On August 15, I unfortunately had to return to Germany from Israel on important party business, while our delegation from the “Jews in the AfD” stayed on to tour Judea with Naomi Linder Kahn from NGO Regavim. She showed us the Bedouin settlements in the Adumim Area and Khan al Ahmar on Highway 1, and explained how EU money is used to fund illegal Arab settlements in Area C, on land that should belong to the state of Israel. She told us about the Fayyad Plan to illegally annex Israeli territory, and how it is supported by the EU governments.
She even drove us out to Khashem ad Daraj, where the EU spent €310,000 last year to build a road to illegal settlements on IDF training ground. This is a blatant violation of the Oslo Peace Accords, which the EU member states claim to support, and a fraudulent use of taxpayer money. Also, we learned how all the other German parties, from the Leftists’ UAWCto the Christian Democrats’ Society of St. Yves, finance NGOs who support illegal land grabs in Area C.
These are all parties and governments who routinely pay lip service to Israel’s right to exist and the importance of a negotiated settlement in Judea and Samaria. At the same time, they are waging financial warfare and lawfare against the state of Israel. We in the AfD are shocked and appalled to discover just how duplicitous and destructive German and EU policy is toward Israel.
We are only an opposition party at the moment. But we will use all our political leverage to combat this injustice, and invite our friends in the Israeli government, the Israeli parties and the Israeli Ambassador in Berlin, to join us in this fight!

Swedish schools to erase ancient history from history class

No more Plato or Aristotle. No Rome, no more teaching of Swedish Great Power era in Swedish upper grade history classes. This is the new move from the Swedish Board of Education, which wants Swedish pupils to focus on Hitler, World War 2 and the following postmodern era in the late 20th century instead.

Recent days, the Swedish debate has focused on the social democratic next move to make the Swedish people less historically aware. Due to lack of lesson time, the Board of Education now suggests that the History subject must be radically changed.
Gender issues, climate and migration are of course included elements in the new suggested revised course plans of social sciences, which includes history.

At the upper grades 7-9, where pupils are 13-15 years old, there will no longer be any history taught dated older than the year 1700. All studying of the democratic cradle in ancient Greece, Rome, or The Swedish Great Power era (1611-1718) when Sweden ruled the countries surrounding the Baltic Sea, will be erased from history class.

“Sweden will be embarrassed”

”It’s horrible, bizarre and absurd, Dick Harrison professor of History and author outbursted when the suggestion was presented to the public previously this week.

“As a historian, who knows some about this, I am forced to react. Only the idea that the Ancients are unimportant to understand the present is bizarre and absurd.
Everything that surrounds us is a legacy from the ancient Greeks, he claimed and said that if the suggestion becomes reality, ”Swedes will be embarrassed worldwide”.

“Excuse me, but it’s so f*** sick, I find it hard to believe it. Naturally, I expect the suggestion to be withdrawn, the upset professor said.

More postmodernism

The revised course plans are the result of lack of history lesson time in Swedish schools, the School Board claims. Pupils in the upper grades must focus more on the 19th century, with particular focus on the Holocaust, the cold war and the ideas that have formed Sweden during the post war era. This includes raising awareness about gender issues, migration and rasism. There will however, be time enough to cover Western slavery and colonialism during the 18th century and onwards.

However, the 100 million dead from communism in the 20th century, are not mentioned as an important subject to study in the revised course plans. Neither are Mao’s and China’s demolition of books during the Culture war.

South Tyrol: Do gangs of foreigners make Bolzano rundown?

Parks and squares serve locals and guests as recreation areas and meeting places. According to the Freedom Party, more and more public spaces in the provincial capital of Bolzano are threatening to become increasingly neglected. Not only women, older people or parents with small children feel insecure in some of the city's parks: vulgarities, gangs that camp, noisy music, addicts and various unhygienic waste are now commonplace. Not to mention the hygienic conditions," says Pernter. One of these negative examples is the park at the so-called victory place. Although the neighbors had complained about the conditions several times to the municipal administration, the city administration had remained inactive. The disrespectful behavior of some immigrants towards passers-by and the buildings or facilities of the city is particularly to be condemned. Even religious symbols such as the cathedral of Bolzano are not spared: Recently a man of foreign origin and his child could be spotted playing football in the street Eisackstraße in front of the cathedral of Bolzano. The outer wall of the cathedral was used as a gate. This is a gross disrespect. Imagine that we in a Muslim country would use the outer wall of a mosque as a football goal," Pernter said.

Germany: Unimagined brutality by players with Arab migration background in German soccer stadiums

Shortly before the final whistle, the soccer match between two youth teams escalates. A guest player is injured - he has to go to hospital. The police also intervenes. Not for the first time the home team is negatively attracting attention. The outbreak of violence with a youth soccer match led to a ban of the TSV Burgdorf for several months. The C youth will be excluded until maximally March 21, 2020 from the matches, said a speaker of the Lower Saxony football federation (NfV) on Monday. This decision was made by a sports court on Sunday after a 13-year-old player was injured and admitted to hospital on Saturday. After the district class match against FC Lehrte, the police are investigating both clubs. "The team of the TSV Burgdorf is obviously completely out of control and has frightening and straight criminal violent potential", it says in the preliminary injunction of the sports court.Chasing down players, kicking players lying on the ground and laying in wait by entire gangs on parking lots are not only unacceptable in soccer. The exclusion is necessary according to the sports court, since matches against the TSV cannot be demanded of anyone. The NfV spokesman said that the ban was valid for the time being until the end of the proceedings. It is "particularly tragic that a team with a migration background and refugees is responsible for these two abandoned matches", the association stated in a statement. The players from Burgdorf had attacked the boy after a foul, the newspaper "Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung" quoted the chairman of FC Lehrte, Marcus Bartscht. According to police, several Burgdorf players hit the guest player and kicked him. About 20 spectators could then have mediated. "The 13-year-old is still in hospital for observation," said a police spokesman. He and at least one of the attackers are Syrian citizens. Criminal proceedings for bodily injury are ongoing.

Germany: "Non-German" man threatens police officers, " every German " and job center employees with death

On Friday morning there was an incident on the street Marktstraße in Werlte. A police officer at the Werlte police station had noticed a 33-year-old man in his Opel Zafira car  shortly before 8 a.m. who was heading towards the main road. He stopped his car in the middle of the road so that it was not possible to drive past in either direction. Again and again he started slowly, only to stop again a few meters later. When the driver was asked by the police officer, who was patrolling alone that day, about his misconduct, the 33-year-old immediately began to insult him and threaten him with death. He denied the policeman the giving of his personal data and extended his threats with clear external effect on the complete police and every Germans. Even before the policeman was able to get reinforcements from Sögel, the 33-year-old left the scene of the crime in his car. Only a few minutes after the incident, the same man had attracted attention at the job center in Werlte, where he was similarly aggressive. There, too, it continued with insults and threats. According to police, the man is of non-German nationality.
Witnesses of the incidents are asked to contact the Sögel police by calling (05952)93450.

Boris Johnson’s aides investigating ‘collusion’ of anti-Brexit ‘Remainers’ with French and EU officials

By Thomas Lifson

“Collusion” with foreign powers may be the hottest political issue of the moment in both the UK and the USA, where beleaguered conservative leaders are fighting titanic struggles with their respective deep states. The struggle over Brexit is every bit as serious in Britain as the struggle over the proclaimed intention to impeach President Trump is in the USA, and both struggles now hinge on charges of collusion with foreign powers.

Breaking today in Britain, The Mail on Sunday, published by the UK Daily Mail, reveals what looks like scheming between anti-Brexit Tories and French and EU officials to sabotage the “hard Brexit” – without an agreement between the UK and the EU – that was to happen on October 31 if negotiations continued to be fruitless. Glen Owen, the Daly Mail’s political editor writes:

Downing Street has launched a major investigation into alleged links between foreign governments and the MPs behind the 'Surrender Act' which could force Boris Johnson to delay Brexit, The Mail on Sunday can reveal.
Sources said No 10 took the unprecedented action after officials received intelligence that the MPs, including former Cabinet Minister Oliver Letwin, had received help drafting the Bill from members of the French Government and the European Union.
This newspaper has also learned that the rebel MPs have drawn up plans for a second Act which would allow Commons Speaker John Bercow to bypass the Prime Minister if he cannot strike a deal to leave the EU on October 31.
The new law would allow Mr Bercow to personally ask Brussels for a further delay on behalf of the Commons.
The rebels have even discussed using the legislation to give Mr Bercow the power to appoint a new British commissioner to the EU, with pro-Remain former Home Secretary Amber Rudd mentioned as a candidate.
The Benn Act, passed earlier this month and controversially dubbed the 'Surrender Act' by No 10, states that if Mr Johnson fails to win a deal by the end of the next EU summit on October 18, he must write a letter to Brussels asking for the UK's departure to be delayed until January 31 – something which he says he will refuse to do.
Under the rebel plan, the Commons would sit on October 19 – the first Saturday sitting since the Falklands War in 1982 – to pass a new Bill giving Mr Bercow the power to write the letter. A senior Commons source said: 'The rebels say that, if Boris wants to play with nuclear weapons, then so will they'.
But last night No 10 hit back amid claims from senior sources that Mr Letwin had agreed the January 31 date in the first Benn Act with figures at the French Embassy in London. Other members of the pro-Remain group – which includes former Chancellor Philip Hammond and ex-Attorney General Dominic Grieve – are suspected by Downing Street of having been assisted in drafting work by members of the European Commission.
These suspicions are political dynamite for the Remainers. The British pubic is unlikely to approve of secret deals with the French to sabotage the will of the British electorate that voted for Brexit.

Others have noticed that three powerful, conservative leaders are simultaneously under severe attack from the deep states of their own governments: Trump, Boris Johnson and Benjamin Netanyahu. All three are fighting back.

This is the most turbulent period of politics that I can remember in my 72 years.

Want mass extinctions? Enact Greta Thunberg's vision

By Gregory Wrightstone
On September 23, an irate 16-year-old Swedish girl told the United Nations General Assembly that her elders are failing to address the supposed dangers of climate change. Greta Thunberg had arrived in New York the previous week, ironically, aboard a "zero-emissions" carbon-fiber racing yacht composed of the same petroleum products she seeks to ban. The fifteen-day voyage was made in order to reduce her "carbon footprint," but those plans were foiled when it turned out that at least four overseas flights were required to ferry crew members to and from England.

While it is easy to poke fun at the blatant virtue-signaling of this whole affair, more dangerous is Thunberg's vitriolic message that was accepted uncritically by the world's media as factual. It turns out that very little of what she said is supported by science. Not only does Thunberg lack a vast amount of information, but she compounds her ineptitude by thinking she knows so much.

Others have debunked in detail the errors in her speech to the U.N. Here we will just examine her notion of an Earth that is deteriorating quickly due to man-made warming. According to Thunberg, "[e]ntire ecosystems are collapsing. We are in the beginning of a mass extinction, and all you can talk about is money and fairytales of eternal economic growth. How dare you?"

It was all very compelling theater, just not true. Not by a long shot.

Her reference to mass extinction was likely driven by a recent U.N. report on biodiversity that claimed that "human actions threaten more species with global extinction now than ever before" and that "around 1 million species already face extinction, many within decades." Included in the report was a frightening chart dating back to the year 1500 and showing extinctions skyrocketing.

Closer examination of the chart reveals that there were only six data points, each representing a full century of species extinctions and graphed cumulatively in order to accentuate the alarming nature. When I examined the exact same datathat the U.N. used but on a more detailed decade-by-decade evaluation, an entirely different story emerged. Rather than species extinctions increasing, the data showed clearly that they had peaked in the late 19th century and were now in significant decline.

Most compelling was the fact that the average species extinction per year over the last four decades was about two annually. Yet, in order for the predicted "one million" extinctions per year to be realized, 25,000 to 30,000 species would have to bite the dust every year. Fewer than 900 extinctions have been documented in the 500 years since A.D. 1500.

Compounding the inaccuracies of the U.N. report was its claim that there are 8 million species on Earth. As Dr. Patrick Moore pointed out in his testimony before Congress recently, there are only 1.8 million species currently identified, therefore one million of the 6.8 million unknown species could go extinct overnight, and we would not notice it, because we would not know they had existed.

In an ironic twist, the U.N. report identified loss of habitat as the greatest endangerment to the future health of species, yet what solution does it offer for halting man-made climate change? Greatly increased habitat loss to construct vast solar arrays and industrial-scale wind turbine farms.

According to a new study by Paul Driessen, if America were to replace all of its electricity generation capabilities with wind, it would need some 14 million turbines, each one 400 feet tall, each one capable of generating 1.8 megawatts at full capacity when the wind is blowing at the proper speed. At 50 acres per turbine, that works out to 700 million acres (ten times the size of Arizona). He notes that eagles, hawks, falcons, vultures, geese, and other high-flying birds and bats would virtually disappear from our skies. Insects and vermin would proliferate.

Oh, my. I wonder if Miss Thunberg realizes the unintended consequences of her proposals. Maybe it is time for her to return to school and stop lecturing us on things she knows so little about.

Merkel regime threatens critics of Greta -- Up to 3 years imprisonment for satires about Greta

Two long and beautifully designed Greta pigtails hang from the trunk. Above them is written "Problem solved", and a little further up "Fuck you Greta". The public prosecutor's office has initiated an investigation against a man from Plauen who has stuck the pigtails on his car. "The accusation to be examined is a public request to commit crimes," says Ines Leonhardt, spokeswoman for the Zwickau public prosecutor's office. One could see in this kind of tailgate decoration the glorification of violence against children and the invitation to do harm to a certain person. The penal code provides for up to three years imprisonment.A citizen filed a denunciatory complaint. Just the sticker "Fuck you Greta", which for example a citizen stuck on his old Citroen, was considered an insult, according to the prosecutor.

Looks like Deep State planned that 'whistleblower' stink bomb all along

By Monica Showalter

Well what a coincidence:

Just before the filing of the 'whistleblower' report against President Trump, it turns out the intelligence community changed its own rules for filing to Congress, to end any need for firsthand knowledge.

Boom. The report they wanted, claiming President Trump had done something wrong in attempting to get to the bottom of Joe Biden's pocket-lining via his son, suddenly came out of the blue. The flypaper was laid out, and the first fly came.

According to Sean Davis at the Federalist:

Between May 2018 and August 2019, the intelligence community secretly eliminated a requirement that whistleblowers provide direct, first-hand knowledge of alleged wrongdoings. This raises questions about the intelligence community’s behavior regarding the August submission of a whistleblower complaint against President Donald Trump. The new complaint document no longer requires potential whistleblowers who wish to have their concerns expedited to Congress to have direct, first-hand knowledge of the alleged wrongdoing that they are reporting.

The brand new version of the whistleblower complaint form, which was not made public until after the transcript of Trump’s July 25 phone call with the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky and the complaint addressed to Congress were made public, eliminates the first-hand knowledge requirement and allows employees to file whistleblower complaints even if they have zero direct knowledge of underlying evidence and only “heard about [wrongdoing] from others.”

So some Trump-hating CIA Deep Stater who nevertheless had their bureaucrat's priority of preserving their bloated pension got this amazing gift in this rules change, enabling him or her to twist all the things he or she may have heard around the office of the president he or she detested, wrap it in a ball, and file an anonymous complaint to topple the president. Better still, unlike Christine Blasey Ford, the accuser would be legally entitled to remain anonymous, free to cook up as many twisted calumnies based on hearsay as desired, getting no scrutiny of motives, paying no price. Zero-cost Trump toppling, with full pension. Sound like an incentive?

One wonders if this person might just have had something to do with why this rules change happened, too.

Because the fact remains that Deep State is still out there and plotting against President Trump. They managed to pin him to the wall for two years on the phony cooked up Steele dossier, and very few of them were held accountable. Where's Steele's penalty for this phony farce? Where's Andrew McCabe's arrest warrant? None of these people paid. Now they don't even have to be in the vicinity of Trump to make their complaints - all they have to do is 'hear' something, and filter it through their biases. And if they are proven wrong, only Trump has to fight to defend himself, there's no penalty to them for lying or distorting secondhand information hrough through their own biases.

This one is even worse because this so-called whistleblower is doing the whole thing under mask of anonymity, yet his or her partisan malevolence was known, as the whistleblower report noted.

Why is this rule still in place? If someone wants to be a whistleblower, fine, have them come out and make their charges in daylight.

The system as it stands is a rigged system is a petri dish for corruption as Deep Staters plot ever new means of getting rid of Trump. With this Federalist report, it looks like they planned it that way.

A German Attack on Christ's Lordship

Half a millennium after the Reformation, Germans are making trouble again for the Roman Church. This time, Germany’s Catholic bishops have set out to remake the Church in their own liberal image. The German episcopate this week adopted a statutory framework to govern its upcoming “Synodal Assembly.” The agenda will include reviewing “Church teaching on sexual morality, the role of women in Church offices and ministries, priestly life and discipline, and the separation of powers in Church governance.” And lest there be any doubt about the direction the majority aims to take in these areas, the bishops drafted the statutes with the Central Committee of German Catholics, a lay outfit that advocates women’s ordination, an end to priestly celibacy, and various other concessions to the sexual revolution. These moves have met with severe disapproval from a broad spectrum of ecclesial opinion in Rome. Pope Francis has asked the Germans to focus on evangelization in their synod. The Congregation for Bishops has described Germany’s “binding synodal path” as “invalid.” And the Church’s traditionalist prelates, most notably Raymond Leo Cardinal Burke, are up in arms—in response to the German process as well as to the upcoming Synod of Bishops for the Pan-Amazon region, also heavily driven by the Germans. What are the stakes, for the Church and the gospel? Can the German and Amazonian processes be stopped? To find out, I sat down last week with Cardinal Burke at his apartment just off St. Peter’s Square. The resulting interview has been edited for length and clarity.

German Court: Identitarians cannot be classified as ‘right-wing extremists’

The Administrative Court of Cologne has ruled that the Identitarian Movement in Germany has no viewpoints that would justify a classification as a ‘right-wing extremist’ organization, Die Presse reports.

Because of the decision made by the Cologne administrative court on Wednesday, the German domestic spy agency, known as the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV), will be forced to overturn the movement’s classification as a ‘secured right-wing extremist aspiration against the liberal democratic constitution’.

From the beginning, the BfV’s decision to label the pan-European identity movement as ‘right-wing extremist was widely believed to be entirely politically and ideologically motivated, with little legal or argumentative basis supporting it.
This, however, didn’t stop the mainstream leftist press from smearing the group as a quasi-terrorist organization.

But on Wednesday, this false notion was put to rest after the court ruled that there was, in fact, no valid reason why the BfV made this reassessment.

Now, it’s quite likely that the BfV will object to the court’s decision within a two-week period.

Regardless, the decision made by the Administrative Court provides a solid basis for the Identitarian Movement’s prospects for victory in this matter.

While speaking with Junge Freiheit, the Identitarian Movement’s leader in Germany Daniel Fiss, said, “For us it is clear that now it will go into the hot phase of legal confrontation with the Protection of the Constitution.”

Fiss mentioned that the Identitarian Movement is fighting “on a decision-making front that could pave the way for all patriotic actors in this country”.

“Patriotic activism and youth work must continue to be legitimate,” he added.

Earlier this month, a court in France slapped three leading figures of Generation Identity (GI) in France, with six months jail sentences for engaging in a peaceful expedition in the Alps designed to bring attention to the migrant crisis.

Italy: Salvini Out, Migrants In

Italy's new government, which has pledged to reverse former Interior Minister Matteo Salvini's hardline approach to migration policy, appears to have triggered a new wave of mass migration from northern Africa.
More than 1,400 migrants reached Italian shores since the new government took office on September 5, according to data compiled by the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
During just the past several weeks, the number of migrant arrivals to Italy has increased incrementally: 59 migrants arrived on September 6; 67 arrived on September 9; 121 arrived on September 14; 259 arrived on September 15; 275 arrived on September 18; and 475 arrived between September 19 and September 25, according to the IOM. Overall, the number of migrant arrivals in September 2019 is up by more than 100% over the number of arrivals in September 2018.
Many of the new arrivals are reaching Italy by using new people-smuggling routes that originate in Turkey. In recent weeks, at least five migrant boats have landed in Calabria, in the far south of Italy. On September 21, for instance, 58 migrants, all Pakistani males, reached the Calabrian port of Crotone.
People-smuggling mafias are also using new routes in the Southern Mediterranean to move people to Italy from sub-Saharan Africa. In recent weeks, criminal groups have used small boats to transport migrants from Libya to Tunisia, from where the crossing to Lampedusa, Italy's southern-most island, is shorter and less risky. On September 20, for example, 92 migrants from sub-Saharan Africa — Gambia, Ivory Coast, Mali and Senegal — reached Lampedusa.
At the same time, Italy's new government also appears to be taking a more lenient approach to the migrant rescue ships operated by European charities, which have been accused of coordinating with people-smuggling mafias to pick up migrants off the coast of Libya and transport them to Italian ports.
On September 14, the Italian government authorized the Norwegian-flagged Ocean Viking, operated by the French charities SOS Méditerranée and Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), to dock at Lampedusa, where 82 migrants picked up off the coast of Libya were allowed to disembark.
On September 24, the Italian government allowed the Ocean Viking, this time carrying 182 migrants, to dock at the Sicilian port of Messina.
Whereas Salvini had banned migrant rescue ships from docking at Italian ports, the new government's more lenient approach appears also to be encouraging European non-governmental organizations (NGOs). On September 23, the Spanish NGO Open Arms announced that it would resume migrant rescues on board a vessel called Astral.
In August, Open Arms and its rescue ship of the same name were involved in a three-week stand-off with the Italian government, which refused to allow the vessel to dock in Italian ports. After more than a dozen migrants jumped overboard and tried to swim to shore, Sicilian prosecutor Luigi Patronaggio on August 20 ordered the Open Arms, anchored one kilometer off Lampedusa, to dock in Sicily so that its passengers could disembark. Subsequent video footage showed that Open Arms staged the jumps to manipulate public opinion. Italian authorities later impounded the ship.
The Spanish government vowed to take a harder line against the Open Arms NGO. On August 21, Spain's acting Deputy Prime Minister Carmen Calvo told Cadena SER radio that the Open Arms did not have a permit to transport migrants and could be fined €900,000 ($1,000,000) for violating a ban on sailing to the seas off Libya. That threat does not appear to have deterred the Open Arms NGO. It now says it will rescue migrants in the Aegean Sea between Greece and Turkey.
NGOs such as Open Arms claim to be playing an invaluable humanitarian role in saving the lives of refugees and asylum seekers fleeing war and oppression in their home countries. Statistics show something else entirely.
Of those who arrived in Italy by sea during the first six months of 2019, 600 (21%) were from Tunisia; 400 (14%) were from Pakistan; 300 (10%) were from Algeria; 300 (10%) were from Iraq; 200 (7%) were from Ivory Coast; 200 (7%) were from Bangladesh; 100 (3.5%) were from Sudan; 100 (3.5%) were from Iran; 100 (3.5%) were from Morocco; and 50 (1.7%) were from Egypt, according to the UNHCR.
The data indicates that most of the migrants arriving in Italy are economic migrants, not refugees fleeing warzones.
In some instances, migrants arriving in Italy are hardcore criminals posing as refugees. On September 26, the Italian newspaper Il Giornale reported that a German migrant rescue ship called Sea Watch 3, which in June rammed an Italian border-control vessel that was trying to stop it from reaching shore, allowed three human traffickers who were posing as refugees to disembark in Lampedusa.
A Guinean, Mohammed Condè, and two Egyptians, Hameda Ahmed and Mahmoud Ashuia, recently were arrested in Messina. They are accused of operating a migrant detention camp in Libya where they allegedly tortured, raped, kidnapped and even murdered migrants from sub-Saharan Africa who were trying to make their way to Europe. Il Giornale reported that the new Italian government had tried to conceal information about the arrests from the general public before the story was leaked to the media.
Meanwhile, the interior ministers of France, Germany, Italy and Malta met on September 23 in the Maltese capital, Valletta, where they agreed to a tentative proposal for shipwrecked migrants to be "voluntarily redistributed" throughout the European Union.
The four-point plan, which will be presented to the interior ministers of all 28 EU member states at a summit in Brussels on October 17-18, is designed to boost Italy's new government by showing "European solidarity."
Similar proposals have failed in the past and there is no reason to believe this one will be different, largely because the concept of European solidarity is a myth. So far only six EU states have agreed to migrant redistribution: France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Malta and Spain.
Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte has insisted that the issue of immigration "must no longer fuel anti-European propaganda." He has also said that the government's softer line on illegal immigration is based on "the formula of a new humanism." He appointed Luciana Lamorgese, a career bureaucrat who has moderate views on immigration, as Italy's new interior minister. Italian journalist Annalisa Camilli explained the changes:
"Basically, Italy is saying to Europe, we're breaking with the past policy. It's a big message that Italy has chosen to come back in line with Germany, France and Spain instead of aligning with [anti-migrant] countries such as Hungary and Poland under the former far-right interior minister Matteo Salvini."
Salvini has condemned the new government as one "produced by Paris and Berlin, born out of a fear of giving up power, without dignity and without ideals, with the wrong people in the wrong place."
Salvini has also accused Conte of re-opening the floodgates of mass migration: "Conte has reopened Italian ports, the migrant landings are increasing for the first time in two years," he said in an interview with Sky Tg24 television. He also tweeted: "The new government reopens the ports, Italy is once again the REFUGEE CAMP of Europe. Abusive ministers who hate the Italians."
Since Salvini announced his hardline immigration policies in June 2018, the number of migrant arrivals to Italy — as well as the number of dead and missing — significantly decreased. The number of arrivals by sea fell from 119,369 in 2017 to 23,370 in 2018, a drop of 80%, according to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. During that same period, the number of dead and missing fell from 2,873 to 1,311, a decline of more than 50%.
A similar trend has continued in 2019: 2,800 migrants arrived in Italy by sea between January and June of 2019, compared to 16,600 during the same six-month period in 2018 and 83,800 in 2017, according to the UNHCR.
This downward trend clearly reversed immediately after the new government took office in September, as the IOM data show.
The return of mass migration to Italy is likely to push Italian voters to the arms of Salvini, who is now the most trusted politician in Italy, according to a new poll published by the newspaper Il Giornale on September 19. The poll also revealed that Salvini's League party is now the most popular political party in Italy, and that if elections were held today, Salvini would win by a wide margin.
"The new government will not be able to escape the judgment of Italian voters for too long," Salvini tweeted. "We are ready. Time is a gentleman. In the end it is we who will win."

Brexit Party Conference Tour - We Are Ready London

Yesterday a colleague called me and drew my attention to a “bizarre” movement.

“The Ruhrbarons report about a Facebook group called Fridays for Hubraum” (piston displacement). As an avowed lover of engine humming, I liked the name immediately. The Ruhrbarons reported:

Many new outlets may get excited about Fridays for Future, yet on Facebook the Petrolheads are ahead. The Facebook group Fridays for Hubraum, founded on September 22nd, managed to playfully pass their ecologically correct counterpart Fridays for Future with 74,484 members to 74,102 followers within a few days, and they added: “The fun of cars with a lot of cubic capacity is in the foreground, those who don’t tolerate Greta jokes should avoid the group”.

The latter can be understood as a warning or as a recommendation, most people apparently understood it as a recommendation. This morning author Gunter Weißgerber wrote to me, as a country dweller urgently dependent on some cubic capacity in front of the log cabin:

I am a member of Fridays For Hubraum. Fine creamDiesel fillet so to speak”. And he reported: “Since two days there is the Facebookgroup Fridays For Hubraum short FFH. Currently this group has 228 700 members”.

As of 9 o’clock this morning, there are already 263,000 members, which is several times the number of Greta followers. And this despite the fact that the site has meanwhile been converted into a closed Facebook group, which slows down the growth, otherwise it would be even more. This was done because, of course, a lot of idiots want to sit on something like this and with stubbornness and resentment only achieve that this no longer tender little plant is immediately introduced to the parking lot to the right of Genghis Khan (Running a combustion engine without a bad conscience is already a proof of right mind anyway).

LZ-Online writes about the Facebook shooting star:

The demands of the Fridays-for-Future movement are not well received by everyone. Not least car drivers feel threatened in their freedom – after all, the protests of climate activists could lead to massive restrictions on their freedom. On Facebook, the opponents of the youth movement are now trying to counteract and have set up their own Facebook group to do so. Their name: Fridays for Hubraum (displacement). Their goal: to have more members than the official Facebook page of Fridays for Future Germany in as short a time as possible”.

And they have succeeded in doing so. The administrators of the group write:

We are more! First goal is to get more members than “Fridays for Future Germany. This group would like to counteract the out-of-control climate madness with fun. Climate change has existed since the Earth’s history. We cannot save the world in Germany at the expense of thousands of jobs. The environment should protect however everyone as well as he can. Please be nice in this group”.

The gigantic echo on this action teaches equal several things. Those, who pay taxes in this country, drive daily to work and mostly with the car, are tired of being shown everywhere as suspended fools and climatic sinners. The tone in this country is now set by tiny groups of people who contribute zero to value creation and 100 percent to word creation. And nobody opposes this tyranny of convictions. On the contrary. Most media feel part of the movement. Only when the last car advertisement fails to appear will they realise that no industrial country can be operated with ethics of conviction. The car industry has long been willing to jump over every little stick of an electric car that you hold out to it. And the ADAC runs the risk of being confused with the Allgemeinen Deutschen Fahrradclub.

In France, a similar situation gave rise to the yellow vests. And also in Germany protest and rebellion are looking for new ways. What pleases me most about “Fridays for Hubraum” is the humour and self-irony that are already in the name. On “Fridays for Hubraum” you can read what works best on Facebook: mockery. You just have to laugh away the insanity. One user posts the video of several tractors emitting enormous clouds of smoke – another makes fun of the youth who “can’t even start a lawnmower”.

Humour has always been the sharpest weapon of doubt and makes it difficult for political opponents to swing the moral cudgel, because they run the risk of getting themselves hurt. And above all: humour is connectable for everyone. Most people who no longer feel represented by current politics and the published opinion are by no means dumb-heads, but open-minded people who stand in the middle of life and are the first to feel the effects of insane political campaigns. “Fridays for Hubraum” is a sign in this respect. I don’t want to overestimate that, but it’s a little throat clearing of an elephant that’s been in the room for some time.

Also in Germany the longing for an opposition, which one can join as reasonable people, is huge. This longing will find ways, which ways do I not know, because such things often depend on coincidences and unforeseen events. But when the time comes, it will happen very quickly. In climate science people like to talk about so-called “tilting points”. This means that a complex system that seems stable for a very long time suddenly and very quickly starts to slip. And the same applies to the political climate.

Addendum on 25 September at 18:15: The number of members now stands at 394,349.

Addendum on 25 September at 19:08: Fimico reports: “Fridays for Hubraum” was archived today with nearly 400,000 members in only three days by an own administrator. This can be a temporary procedure. It was not Facebook that intervened, but the participants themselves closed the group for the time being. According to our editorial observations, several 10,000 new members have joined the group in recent hours. After the group had experienced a wide-ranging media echo and a huge rush in the past three days, it is reasonable to assume that the group of administrators will first consider how to deal with this.”

De Blasio's NYC bans use of words 'illegal alien' said supposedly in 'hate'

By Monica Showalter

Now that socialist Bill de Blasio is washed out of the Democratic presidential election primaries, he's back to running New York City, doing the Sandinista thing, and banning free speech.

The New York Post has identified his latest bid to make New York Cuba:

It’s now against the law in New York City to threaten someone with a call to immigration authorities or refer to them as an “illegal alien” when motivated by hate.
The restrictions — violations of which are punishable by fines of up to $250,000 per offense — are outlined in a 29-page directive released by City Hall’s Commission on Human Rights.
“‘Alien’ — used in many laws to refer to a ‘noncitizen’ person — is a term that may carry negative connotations and dehumanize immigrants, marking them as ‘other,'” reads one passage of the memo. “The use of certain language, including ‘illegal alien’ and ‘illegals,’ with the intent to demean, humiliate, or offend a person or persons constitutes discrimination.”

Which is an outrageous assault on free speech, as well as free thinking. The term 'illegal alien' wasn't something cooked up by racists, but a federal government legal term, perfectly legal in description.

Because some breakers of immigration law and their leftist advocates don't like it, given that it ultimately creates distinctions between legal and illegal activity, some sort of truth squad is about to be set up to sort out everyday New Yorkers' correct frame of mind. Was it hateful or wasn't it? Shall we take away someone's home equity for using it or shall we not?

And it's not as if New Yorkers aren't a rather politically incorrect bunch as it is - I've lived in many U.S. cities and New York is the only one where people, rubbing elbows against different cultures and unassilimated immigrants of all stripes, openly call one another offensive names of all sorts, that's pretty much the tough-guy culture of the place. You can certainly see it in President Trump, and he's hardly the only such New Yorker.

It's not just an illegal assault on the First Amendment, it's a petri dish for corruption. A high-ranking leftist or his son who uses the term will undoubtedly be excused. An ordinary schmoe with zero political power, or, god forbid, a Republican, will be arrested and stripped of assets in draconian example-making, similar to Stalin's show trials or Mao's self-criticism sessions. Sound like a recipe for some Salem witch hunt hysteria? Sound like the perfect set-up for some personal score-settling? You bet it does. The double standards are waiting, all in the name of ensuring that lawbreakers are never offended.

If this isn't a case for a court challenge on classic First Amendment grounds, what is? These jackasses have no right whatsoever to regulate what people say or think in that crowded bustling city of theirs. The normal New York reaction to anything offensive is to walk away and ignore fools, got too much to do. But not these freaks. Their regulation of free speech is not only bad stuff in this instance, it's the tip of the iceberg for more regulation of free speech.

They've got to be stopped early from this outrageous usurpation of the Constitution. No illegal alien, after all, emigrates to either Nicaragua or Cuba.

Germany: Just don't get confused ! Gang rape trials in Bielefeld and Freiburg

The "young men" were as many as nine and made the 14 year old girl drunk. Then at least five of them raped the girl several times, others watched and recorded. The trial was started slowly before the Düsseldorf Chamber for the Protection of Minors because of the Syrian migration background of the accused. However, this case should not be confused with the one in Freiburg. There, eleven "men" - most of them Syrians - are said to have raped an 18-year-old woman for hours. One of the defendants was already released at yesterday's trial.

The video shows a totally drunk 14-year-old girl. Again and again several men grab and sexually abuse her defenseless victim. Others are standing around watching. The screams "Stop it! No! are drowned out by the laughter of the men.
This is the record of a gang rape committed in November 2017, after nine "young men" between the ages of 16 and 21, some of whom were known to the police, made the 14-year-old schoolgirl drunk with vodka at the time of the crime, then kidnapped her to a cellar room, where they spent hours sexually abusing the defenseless girl. "We had this planned," a 16-year-old defendant, whose parents' house is said to have been the scene of the crime, confessed in court on Wednesday. After the crime, the "youths" took the girl to a park and called the emergency doctor. The girl came to the hospital, but had no memory. The case only became known when the videos came to the police months later, the tabloid Bild reported. What the newspaper did not report to its readers, however, did the newspaper Westfalen-Blatt: All nine defendants are poorly German-speaking men with a Syrian migration background. The public hearing will continue on Thursday, September 26 at 11 a.m. in Room 1.
In the case of this gang rape, the Bielefeld police are suspected of having kept the crime hidden for months. According to the newspaper Neue Westfälische, the crime took place on the 3rd of November 2017, but was made public by the police just in June 2018. A PI-News report forced the police to disclose the case to the public. The authorities justified their action at that time with the "protection of the minor victim".

Eleven men are on trial. On October 14, 2018, they allegedly drugged an 18-year-old woman and raped her several times in a bush for hours. According to police, eight of the suspects come from Syria (18 to 29 years old), one is "German" (25 years old) and one is Algerian (18 years old). On Wednesday, the trial concerning the alleged gang rape began before the Freiburg Regional Court.
A defendant, 25-year-old Syrian Kosay Al M., was released yesterday with immediate effect. The "refugee" had admitted to having been in the bushes at the time of the crime, but had not raped.
Because M. could not be proven to have committed the crime by DNA analysis, he was dismissed by the presiding judge Stefan Bürgelin with the words "You are a free man". However, the 25-year-old remains a defendant on suspicion of failure to render assistance. According to the tabloid Bild, M. left the courtroom smiling and with a wink in the direction of the other accused. Two other defendants are also likely to be free again in the near future: The public prosecutor's office agreed to the applications for release of two further accused persons. The trial will continue. According to the court, there is no date yet for sentencing.

Germany: Gang rape by refugees from North Africa

According to tabloid BILD, a terrible gang rape by " non-Germans " in Düsseldorf was cleared up three months after the crime by police and public prosecutor's office. The serial offenders known to the police are between 15 and 17 years old.A woman (51 years old) from Wuppertal was lured to the Hofgarten at Whitsun 2019 after a visit to the old town, where she was raped and robbed. Now the police have arrested four youths ( non-Germans) as suspects, the police announced at a press conference on Thursday. The victim had left a disco that night from June 7th to 8th due to malaise and wanted to go to a public toilet. She was addressed by a young girl who acted as a decoy. The just 14-year-old accomplice had offered the woman her aid and led her to the nearby courtyard garden to "get some fresh air".There the girl had called the three other youths who were already lurking for prey. The North African group had then pushed their Taharrush victim into the park and finally " cruelly raped "The victim's handbag and mobile phone were also stolen. The woman from Wuppertal fled from the refugees to a nearby hotel on the street Inselstraße, asked for help and asked the staff to call the police, who had the traumatised woman admitted to a Düsseldorf hospital.
"All four, regardless of their age, are in custody," said prosecutor Britta Zur at Thursday's press conference: "Investigations into serious rape, robbery and assault are ongoing." The question "whether the crime was planned by the youths" is to be clarified (BILD).
By whom else - by the victim of the crime perhaps?

Middle Eastern migrants 'assimilate' into Germany’s social welfare programs

By Nicholas J. Kaster

One of the standard justifications for the mass importation of Middle Easterners into Western Europe has been economic: the need to replenish the workforce due to a declining native birthrate and to pay for the retirement benefits of an aging population. Those urging increased immigration to the U.S. make similar arguments.

However, a recent report out of Germany suggests that this plan isn’t working out too well. According to new figures released by Germany’s Federal Employment Agency, three out of four working-age Syrians living in Germany are supported entirely or partially by the country’s welfare system. As of June, the official unemployment rate for Syrians in Germany was an astounding 44.2 percent. And those figures understate the truth, said the report, because Syrian migrants who attend state-funded “integration courses” or “vocational language courses” are not regarded as unemployed, but instead as “underemployed persons.” The figures also do not include all of the arrived but not yet “accepted” or “registered” asylum seekers who are able to collect benefits.

In reporting similar findings earlier this year, Breitbart noted that more than half of German welfare recipients come from migrant backgrounds:
“The statistics show that individuals from migrant backgrounds take far more benefits from the state than they pay back into it. The issue is likely to cause problems in the near future as there are proportionally more migrant background individuals in younger age brackets. In some German cities, up to 70 per cent of children come from migrant backgrounds.
How well are the migrants integrating into their new country? According to René Springer, Member of Parliament from the populist Alternative for Germany (AfD) Party, the only “integration” that is currently occurring is “systematic integration into Germany’s social welfare systems.”

Low-skilled immigration into a country offering generous welfare benefits is a poor combination. Free market economist Milton Friedman was pro-immigration, but with one important caveat. He said:
“It is one thing to have free immigration to jobs. It is another thing to have free immigration to welfare. And you cannot have both. If you have a welfare state, if you have a state in which every resident is promised a certain minimal level of income, or a minimum level of subsistence, regardless of whether he works or not, produces it or not. Then it really is an impossible thing.” [Emphasis added]
This is precisely the predicament that Germany finds itself in today. Migrants supposedly brought in shore up the welfare state will end up looting it.

Study: 70 Per Cent of Austrians Say Islam Not Compatible with the West

A new study from the University of Salzburg has shown 70 per cent of Austrians feel Islam is simply not compatible with the Western world.

The study, which involved 1,200 participants, found that Austrians were very concerned about the effect of Islam in their country, with 72 per cent going as far as to say Muslims were not a cultural asset for Austria, Kronen Zeitung reports.

Half of those who took part in the study said that they would be fine with restricting Muslims’ ability to practise their faith and nearly as many said that mosques should not be tolerated in Austria at all. A third say they oppose Muslims outright.

Another 59 per cent said that there were fearful of Muslims in Austria being terrorists and 79 per cent agreed that Muslim communities in the country should be closely watched by authorities.

In August, the Austrian Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BVT), the country’s domestic intelligence agency, said that radical Islamic terrorism is still the number one threat facing the country.

The BVT singled out returning Islamic State fighters from the Middle East as a danger due to possible combat experience they may have acquired.

Sociologist Wolfgang Aschauer, the author of the study, complained people were overlooking “the complexity of Islam”, which he felt was “under-emphasised”, and claimed that that the majority of Muslims in Austria were seeking to adapt to Austrian culture.

Ümit Vural, president of the Islamic Religious Community, also commented on the results of the study, saying, “We are part of the whole and we want to be perceived that way. Religious freedom is a fundamental right and a human right,” and blaming political decisions for the attitudes.

The study comes just over a year since another poll showed 84 per cent of Austrians stated they would not tolerate migrants who refused to integrate.

Majority of British People Back Boris as Remain Parliament Block Democracy

Sweden Spinning out of Control

"Löfven, you have lost control of Sweden," the leader of the largest opposition party, the center-right Moderate Party, Ulf Kristersson, recently wrote in an article in the daily newspaper Aftonbladet, in which he criticized Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven for failing to solve some of Sweden's biggest problems. According to Kristersson:
"Two areas that we [the Moderate Party] highly prioritize are law and order and integration. Because Sweden's biggest problems are there now.
"Last year, 306 shootings occurred and 45 people were shot dead. According to the police, the number of people killed has doubled since 2014. During the same period, the number of people who have been subjected to sexual abuse has tripled according to BRÅ [the Swedish Crime Prevention Council]...
"Concrete reforms are necessary. We have proposed them - the Social Democrats say no...
At the same time, we have an integration crisis: More than half of all the unemployed are born outside of Sweden. In our exclusion areas, [utanförskapsområden] there are schools where not even half of the students pass all subjects... Many children born in Sweden hardly speak Swedish, and there is extensive repression [in the name of] honor culture. Here too we have called for reforms, but the Social Democrats say no.
"Integration and immigration are connected. Therefore, a long-term and strict immigration policy is required. Temporary residence permits and requirements of financial self-sufficiency for family reunification should be the main rule.
"Requirements for knowledge of Swedish and financial self-sufficiency [should be conditions] for a permanent residence permit."
Kristersson's criticism demonstrates that the political mainstream in Sweden is fully cognizant of the country's fundamental problems. This criticism is especially significant coming from the Moderate Party: Kristersson's predecessor, Frederik Reinfeldt, who was prime minister of Sweden from 2006 to 2014 and chairman of the Moderate Party from 2003 to 2015, did not share these concerns. In 2014, Reinfeldt urged Swedes to "Open your hearts" to the refugees of the world.
"Now I ask the Swedish people to be patient with this. To have solidarity with the outside world... In the long run we create a better world in this way... It will cost money, we will not be able to afford so much else, but [these are] really people who are fleeing for their lives."
Kristersson, unlike the current Swedish government, appears to have woken up to the realities of Sweden.
One of the realities, according to the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB) -- the state authority for community protection and preparedness -- is that terrorism is now a threat everywhere in Sweden, and therefore even smaller municipalities need to be prepared for terrorist acts to occur.
"First of all," said Jonas Eriksson, who is responsible for security in the public environment at MSB, "you have to be aware that this can happen in smaller cities... Then you have to think about what is in the municipality that can be vulnerable and sensitive." The statement came after police intercepted a potential terrorist act in the city of Östersund in August. The suspect was trying to drive into a crowd and run people over, according to Aftonbladet. He is also being investigated for links to Rakhmat Akilov, a terrorist who was convicted of killing five people by plowing a truck into a department store in central Stockholm in April 2017.
From the beginning of 2019 to the end of July, there were 120 bombings in Sweden, according to police statistics. The figure represents an increase of 45% over the same period last year, when 83 bombings took place. The south of Sweden has been particularly badly hit, with 44 bombings. "At present, one can only really speculate on the reasons why. We have an increased problem with crime and exclusion," said Petra Stenkula, chief investigator at Police Region south. "It is possible that the supply of dynamite is good, whereas the supply is somewhat more limited when it comes to weapons today compared to before."
In the southern Swedish city of Landskrona alone -- a place of roughly 35,000 inhabitants -- since December 2018, there have been seven explosions or bombings. In August, the entrance to Landskrona's city hall was blown up.
"Those who do this want to disrupt organized society; we will not let that happen", said municipal council member Torkild Strandberg from the Liberal Party.
In August, another city in the south of Sweden, Linköping, experienced its second blast this year. Police found an object that they suspected was explosives. When it was destroyed by the national bomb protection squad, a powerful explosion occurred. It destroyed a police storehouse and damaged several other buildings. In early June, also in Linköping, an explosion blasted through a residential building. Miraculously, no one was killed, but 20 people were wounded. The police suspectthat the incident was gang-related.
The constant insecurity that these incidents produce means that the demand for security guards and other security services has dramatically increased. Both private companies and municipalities have been asking to hire more security guards. According to Hans Tjernström, press manager at the Swedish Trade Association, an average grocery store spends around 600,000 kronor ($62,000) per year on guards and other items that have to do with security. According to a security industry source, over the next three years, security companies will need to recruit 5,300 more employees.
Rape and sexual assault also continue apace. In Uppsala alone, a picturesque Swedish university town, where 80% of girls do not feel safe in the city center, four rapes or attempted rapes took place in early August within four days. In Stockholm, two rapes occurred during the "We are Stockholm" youth festival in August, in addition to about a dozen other sexual offenses. At the "Piteå Dances and Laughs" summer festival in Piteå, another rape, involving ten men, took place.
In a recent op-ed in Aftonbladet, a member of parliament for the Moderate Party, Josefin Malmqvist, appealed to Morgan Johansson, who serves as Minister of Justice and Minister for Migration Policy, to "Stop the rapes – you are letting the women down." In her article, Malmqvist wrote:
"Exposure to sexual crimes has risen sharply during Morgan Johansson's (S) time as Minister of Justice: for the third consecutive year, the number of reported rapes in 2018 increased to 20 reported rapes per day. So far this year, the number of reported rapes has increased by 14 percent... In Sweden -- one of the world's most equal countries -- women's freedom is diminishing. That women do not have the same opportunity to move freely in the streets and squares without having to worry about being exposed to crime, is a serious restriction on women's freedom and self-determination. While more women are reporting sexual offenses, the rate of resolved rapes is still frighteningly low. A review of the rapes reported in recent years shows that only 5 out of 100 reported rapes lead to conviction."
She concluded:
"Now is the time to stop talking and start acting. The Moderate Party and the Christian Democrats' budget raised funding for the police, but more needs to be done. In May 2018, a majority in Parliament approved the Moderate Party's motion to tighten the penalty for rape. Since then, nothing has happened. It is high time for the Minister of Justice (S) to begin acting for Sweden's women."
Another population group that has been suffering under the lack of law and order in Sweden is children. According to BRÅ, there has been a significant increase in robberies against young people in recent years. In just a few years, the number of reports of robberies against people under 18 has significantly increased, from 1,084 reported robberies in 2015 to 1,896 in 2018 -- an increase of 75%. There have already been 1,247 reports of robberies against young people in 2019 so far. According to Sven Granath, a criminologist with the Swedish police, the increase in robberies against young people could be because it has become harder to rob older people or to steal from shops. "It has become harder and then they go after a group that cannot protect itself as well. They also have what other youths want, such as mopeds, phones and jewelry" said Granath.
It would appear that Prime Minister Löfven has indeed lost control of Sweden.
